NJPW STRONG STYLE EVOLVED (aka the US Show)

Goodness gracious, the Starrcade '96 match had some neat spots but was a mess of a match. Even if it were completely hobbled swollen Mysterio (and he's moving significantly better than he was a few years ago) and broken down 53-year-old Liger, I am almost positive they'll have a better match than they did when they were almost in their physical primes.

They generally keep the matches ~10-15 minutes for the tournament and a lot of them are on the smaller house show size, so it's not like he'd have to go 100% in every match. I think he could but this is probably a one off before he signs with Vince then regrets it 2 months later.

Well sometimes less is more and I think that Liger has really perfected that approach in his recent years.

Did Rey say this would be their first match ever in the video or did I just mishear him cause I don't remember that Starrcade match.

I wish they would come east and do a show. They could probably easily sell out The Theater at Madison Square Garden if they're getting almost 5,000 in Long Beach.

He said it would be the first time he wrestled for New Japan

I think they might be able to do bigger than that, if they stick to very few US shows.

Liger did not have good luck in WCW. Those Pillman matches, for example, do not age well at all.

Which matches are you watching, that Superbrawl II match is still amazing and might still be the best match on the show.

Now, if you want to talk his tag matches with Pillman in the NWA Tag Tourny...

The Nitro match is pretty bad. Although Pillman was in the middle of really changing his style and Liger was just coming back from like a year off after breaking his ankle, so it's pretty understandable.

I haven't watched the SuperBrawl match in years, but I remember it being pretty good to great overall.
