FEBRUARY 2018 WRESTLING DISCUSSION.

As a black guy who was a in grade school during Badd's WCW run I liked him as a face I just wasn't crazy about his lack of a legit finisher compared to other guys.

Also, I don't remember him being portrayed as black, and from watching a few WCW PPVs here and there on the network I don't remember anything. Was I just missing it as a kid? He always seemed like a tan white guy to me.

I'm black and I completely thought he was a black guy back then. Either Mero was using the same serum as C. Thomas Howell in Soul Man or he's going to die of skin cancer b/c he was really dark.

He seems to have had a procedure to remove his skin and replace it with vulcanized rubber, so he might be in the clear.

I couldn't remember if the whole thing was Sid's idea or just hiring them.

Sid talked about it in a shoot. He was the one who got them and Parker hired. He based it on a news story about Louisiana's governor getting into trouble with regards to gambling. So the idea was Parker was a casino owner the governor owed a lot of money to. To pay off the loan he gives Parker the two baddest convicts in the prison on work release.

Which as an angle sounds good but visually was not going to fly even in 93.

Supposedly, the idea with Kane and Kole as convicts was that they would eventually turn on their abusive white slave owner I mean, casino owner and become super babyfaces.   'Cause if there's anything wrestling audiences in the South are likely to cheer, it's two black guys portraying hardened criminals.

Seems like a sharp guy with a good mind for wrestling. He insists that line was written by Russo and he asked multiple times if that was what Russo meant to write.

Now if it was anyone but Russo I would question it.

Eh, Russo's a convenient excuse for what may well have just been a verbal mistake.

But either way, good to know he's an interesting shoot interview. I'll have to seek him out.

Black wrestlers got over big in WCW, when they were allowed to.  Those Center Stage crowds were pretty diverse.

In his shoot he talks about being backstage at a BET awards show during that time so he was fooling a lot of people.

Watching some of Miz's terrific  promos from 2010.

I forgot that "invisible GM" angle. Ugh. Also, the Lawler feud was so contrived. And there's no winning a feud like that for a young champ. If he loses, he lost to an old man. If we wins, he beat up an old man.
