Re Reigns' desperation spear on Kofi before getting overwhelmed... that's the closest thing to a heel "hope spot" I can ever remember seeing. Loved it.

Reigns spear of Kofi > Hall lawn darting Ray?

Not even close. That was Hall already nuking the shit out of Rey and then throwing him into the truck when he was done with the guy. Reigns' move was more "if I'm going down I'm taking one of theirs with me..."

Also, I'm incredibly happy the Uso's were the first ones out the gate for the run in.

BUT WHERE THE FUCK IS YOSHI TATSU?

Tweeting pictures of himself that's where. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER MANE.

Ryback and Heyman are like a roided up version of Herc and Levy from The Wire. I approve.

Great, great Raw. Strong heels, great violent angles, and, finally, babyfaces stepping up. As was noted a few pages back, this is more shades of JCP-style angles than the Attitude Era.

Next time folks bellyache for three weeks about why the babyfaces aren't doing anything and they're all spineless, please remember that this is why they didn't do anything for three weeks. Because the worse things get, the more it means something when the Samoan Swat Rockers and Dolph Gunn finally lead the charge to save Daniel Bryan. Damn that was fun.

I think the "This is more JCP than Attitude Era" explains why I love this so much. I also don't feel sleazy for liking the post-SummerSlam reset. There's no cursing or attacks on women. And the violence the heels of had is great deception. The nastiest stuff has been a kendo stick attack on Punk, The Shield doing some powerbombs, Randy hitting the RKO, Big Show flattening someone with a punch and Randy Orton Pillmanizing Miz's skull. It all looks great but they're really protected spots -- there's no elderly women being put through tables or anything of the sort.

It LOOKS brutal but it's all playacting. The reactions and dread and seriousness everyone is playing these things with has been fantastic. JCP did this, too. The angle everyone remembers the most was The Horseman rolling Dusty in the parking lot. They blurred out the part where they broke his hand -- they obviously edited around it.

The B and C stories have also been solid-to-great. The Punk/Heyman stuff would be the best angle of the year if it wasn't happening the same time the best angle of the decade was unfolding. ADR's really capable of having good matches and being a general jerk against guys like RVD. The divas, at the least, have been compelling because of AJ. The comedy dance-off stuff w/ Fandango is dumb but it's good for kids and is far from the worst humor they've ever done.I think the unsung hero of the post-SummerSlam stuff has been Michael Cole. He's been awesome at just telling the stories and serving as the audience proxy, selling disgust and admiration right when it should be called for. JBL's great at being a heel announcer spin jobbing.

Steve Martin explained in "Born Standing Up" about the old theory in comedy about what a joke actually is. The set-up builds the tension. The punchline releases that tension. The more tension you build, the greater the release for that tension. The art in comedy comes in figuring out what's too much or too little tension and the significance of the release. And the real artists -- the best in the business -- know how to build and release that tension many times throughout the course of a set.

Wrestling's the same logic: Angles build tension in the storyline and the releases come in other ways. Last night was the first great cathartic release after a few weeks of the heels running roughshod. Now we'll see how they build that tension back up again.

Understandable but funny nobody helped out The Miz.

His own FATHER didn't terribly care that much.

Posted Image

Miz's father looks like the kind of guy that makes cheap low budget slasher films, and white trash porn on the side.

Reality T.V. as a career does seem like a beacon light of hope given the above photograph as pater familias.

Dammit.  Stop making me sympathize with Miz!

Did Vickie ever really get it?

Wait, what?  If anything, Vickie got her comeuppance too much.

EDIT: And as to the issue of how Stephanie gets hers, she was regularly humiliated or overcome in the Attitude era, and since they're just recycling stories from then, I'm sure they can dust something off for AmDrag.

How does one do "bottom-feeding trashbag ho" in the PG era?

Snicklefritzing clown-shoes dope.

Yeah, the longer the Rhodes are an unknown, and the longer Big Show has to keep killing friends and loved ones, the better.
