The Bengals defeat the Lions in the Mediocre Bowl. Lions are eliminated.

Of course, let's win a meaningless game and fuck up our draft position. Grrrrrrr...

I honestly am thinking that I might want Jimmy G back over Brady in 2018.

How much money do you think Jimmy G's earned over the last month?

Answer: ALL OF IT.

If the 49ers don't franchise tag him and he somehow ends back up on the Pats, I will laugh like mad. I mean.. can't stop laughing like the Joker mad.

He was leaving next year as a free agent regardless unless they were going to move on for Brady.

Maybe, although I think they probably could have come to some sort of deal.  I mean, yes, Brady says he wants to play 10 more years, but who is he kidding?

And even so, the Pats could have gotten a lot more for Jimmy G than what they got from the 49ers.

So, what changed?

I don't think there was anyone except maybe the Browns offering more, and reportedly Belicheck didn't want to be that cruel.

I could have sworn there were better offers during this past offseason, even possibly including a late first rounder, but the Pats wanted a lot more.

Nobody offered more.  Bill thinks he can get a steal in the 30s,  he loves those high value second round picks. They couldn't keep Jimmy.  You can't pay two QBs that kind of money.  They probably thought that Brady would be on his way out but the dude will probably win the MVP this year.   Pats know what they had with Jimmy that's why they sent him out west.

Pretty much only Cleveland, and they weren't willing to part with a first iirc

Now I really want to know why the Pats gave up on Jimmy G.

Bill wanted to trade Brady but Robert Kraft vetoed him. Couldn't keep both so they traded Jimmy.

I suspect he'll be back in Foxboro one day.
