Charles Oakley was arrested in Las Vegas last night for attempting to cheat in a casino.  (He was trying to take chips back from a bet he'd made  after the outcome was determined.)

This post is mainly to remind @RIPPA to never have any heroes.

"I'm all-in! Just kidding!"

Those casinos just have no sense of humor.

Lonzo Ball has completely cut ties with Big Baller Brand after one of the co-founders allegedly emezzled $1.5M.

I'm honestly amazed *he* wasn't the one embezzling the money.

This is tangential to college basketball but...

And, although this has no relation to basketball, he also got hit with wire fraud charges in a completely different investigation and state the same day. Allegedly, he told a client that the payment for a suit was coming in March 15, when it actually came in January 15. And then he still didn't pay the guy even on the false date, having spent the money on his coffee business.

Apparently he was extorting Nike behind a story of Deandre Ayton's family taking money.  So he's going to prison for extorting based on a story that 1) everybody knew already and 2) no one gave a shit about.

What an asshole.

How many people are going to end up in prison because we are still pretending that we shouldn't pay college athletes?  Deandre Ayton's family got paid to go to Arizona and Arizona got a year of Deandre Ayton, where the fuck is the crime.  They wanted his services, he put a price tag on that service and they paid it.  That is how all other work in this country is negotiated.

Porzingis is being investigated for alleged rape in New York.

FWIW, his lawyers are claiming the "contract" to pay off the woman is a forgery.

The fact that she claims he did this right after suffering a devastating injury that I would think would make him unable to even walk was what raises red flags for me.

Among several others, Glen Davis and Lamar Odom have been kicked out of the Big3 league.

Odom played a grand total of 1 game before getting booted.

The fact that Odom can stand up and move like a normal human being is a miracle, playing professional basketball, even at this level is way too much to ask for someone who probably should be dead.  Seriously, for him to have survived with what seems to me minor mental and physical limitations is stunning based on how long he was in a coma and the strokes/heart attacks he suffered during that coma is almost unbelievable.  The fact that he was able to play in one game is a much bigger victory than getting booted after one game is a loss.

Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright's ex-wife, Sherra Wright, pled guilty to his murder today in Memphis and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

What a terrible, sad story.
