Oh come on. They're in Boston. Sami and Dasha should have been skanking to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

That's the impression that I get.

Also... Rusev pec flex to the crowd chanting Rusev Day:

Is Lucy the first known example of this?

According to TV tropes two sisters in England, one who was a socialist and the other a fascist sympathizer during the war allegedly did this in their apartment to quite the tabloid stir. That is the earliest instance I think they list.

The Mitford Sisters?

Hoo boy. Everyone should read about them someday.

Really shocked to see Ziggler win. The only title change was the one I thought was least likely. I like it in that it was highly unexpected and I still enjoy Dolph, but feel bad that Corbin just can't keep any momentum ever it seems. Figured Corbin/Roode would be an extended rivalry. Tag 4 way was good stuff with Rusev crazy over. Thought the refs tag was ridiculous but fun, some of Shane's mannerisms throughout were amusing. I'm still on Shane O's side, they screwed him at HIAC before any of the UnderSiege/Survivor Series stuff started.  And thought the main event was really solid overall. the Khallas had been well protected to this point. Didn't expect Jinder to tap but a cool finish since AJ used his other finishers on the Singhs. Decent show overall.

I get that the Smackdown tag scene is just loaded right now, but what are they doing with Breezango? They get their vignettes twice a month and then lose anytime they have a match, basically getting fuckstomped tonight?

Pretty much. The vignettes actually get them over, which their matches never really did.

Mojo/Zack was decent.

US Title match was solid, but Ziggler was the guy who needed the belt the least.

Tag Titles match was a fun mess.

Charlotte/Nattie was the worst match I can recall between the two.

Owens/Zayn vs. Orton/Nakamura was good, but had a bit too much goign on with the double refs.

AJ/Jinder felt a bit long, but was probably MOTN. Jinder went all out with an actual game plan and busting out a ton of new offense to put it into effect.

I was watching the show with @Cristobal and while we had a good laugh at Shane losing his IFB, looking like an idiot picking it up and then Daniel also ripping his out, looking less stupid, I wondered how much of that tag match was called on the fly, without Vince screaming in their ears about trivial shit and time cues.

Because the match was quite good. Obviously, there’s four (five with Bryan) solid workers and minds in there. I’m intrigued into how much of it was relaxed and like, working around what the finish was and just using experience into doing whatever seemed fit.

Whatever it was, worked. I enjoyed this match a lot.

Also, Shane rolling into the ring to break up a ten count, a count he wasn’t even administering, during a match he wasn’t even fighting in had us howling.

And Bryan got some dad practice tonight:

Shane: Alright that's enough boys, back in the ring. I said GET BACK IN THE RING.

Bryan: You heard your mom, guys, back in the ring now.

Shane: And you, hey! Get down from there GET DOWN FROM THERE RIGHT NOW!

Bryan: Yeah, guys, guys, when she says get down you get down.

Jinder/AJ was good, but Christ did the crowd not care at all until the Khallas and kick out, which I swear got an actual crowd sized sigh of relief.

The tag division is crazy loaded, but after tonight they have to be planning to put the belts on Rusev Day. That crowd was insane for them. Most over act of the night be a few miles. The part where we had two face in peril sequences going at once was... Unique?

They need to turn Roode yesterday (although he was pretty over) and prep him for AJ.

I don't know what the fuck was going on in that women's match but it was awful beyond words.

Career match got ate up by story, but oh well. If they think the crowd is going to side with Shane over KO, Sami, AND Bryan, then Vince is crazy enough to try anything. Like bringing back the XFL.

Saw something on Twitter that clearly was more joke than anything but a lot of true is said in jest

Basically - Dolph's win definitely came off like "Hey - sign another contract with us. We will give you the US Title! Clearly we think highly of you!"

Yeah, they have had far better matches in the past. This one was just a straight clusterfuck and never really got off of the ground.

I sort of half ass watched the Jinder/AJ match. It seemed like it was decent. But I have no real desire to watch a 30 minute Jinder Mahal match, especially one with him in control for 3/4 of the match.

Has anybody kicked out of the Kalas up to this point? I know it has been pretty protected.

I GUESS it’s OK in that it keeps Dolph from shitting it up in the indies for another year.

so when are we setting up the GoFundMe for bribing Corbin to flash-KO him in their eventual rematch?

I thought it was three unhindered Jinders.

I didn't think the Dolph character could get more grating but here we are.

I am assuming this means we are gonna get a lot more "the best in ring technician ever" horseshit like we got last night

  • Ryder vs. Rawley was a match.   Right guy went over given Mojo's recent heel turn.
  • I am happy that the Baron Corbin experiment is done, but how much mileage will you get from Roode chasing Ziggler. Put the belt on Bobby, already.
  • I really wanted Rusev & Aiden to win, but Benjamin / Gable are slowly morphing into an acceptable lite clone of WGTT. I'd like to see them as transitional champs before someone is eventually sacrificed to the Bludgeon Brothers.
  • Both Natalya and Ruby are working heels to Charlotte being a face champ, so I don't understand the logic of Ruby costing Natalya a title match, even if it was to keep Carmilla from cashing in.
  • RIP Breezango.
  • Tag team match was a cluster fuck and I didn't expect KO and Zayne to lose, but at least Nak didn't job.  I guess we'll see WTF is up with DB this Tuesday.
  • I'd have like to have seen Jinder win just to watch Twitter explode, but I am a mark for the Calf Slicer, so I am good with AJ retaining. Even so, the Jinder Mahal hate really baffles me.  How many guys these days work a match as if earning the title is the most important thing to them?  Jinder WANTS to be champion and his in ring work shows it.

Nothing in Dolph's arsenal leads up to the Zig Zag so yes, that claim would be horseshit.

Thoughts.

Mojo has to clean up this chinlock if that's his go to wear down hold. Waaaaaay too much room. Zack was keeping his head in place at one point.  Ryder did some good work.

I loved the finish the US title match. Before the match started my son Jareth said: "I'm rooting for Corbin or Roode. I feel bad for Ziggler - he never gets anything."

Tag match was a mess for the first half. Too many people in the ring and some of the little spots like Aiden/Gable trying to out do eachother in a weardown hold didn't come off. I love the Usos. I love Rusev. I love Gable German Suplexes, so the last half was great.

Only caught the last half of the women's match but the whole lumberjack was terrible.

The Career Match was just a mess in the first half. My personal highlight was Daniel Bryan entering the ring and then automatically going into a shuffle strep like he was about to fight. Then he remembered that he was retired and laughed at himself and quit. The first half storytelling was rough, but the finish with Shane stopping the count on the rollup, and Daniel realizing this match was an unfair settup and taking the heat with the fast count was great.

I love they're drawing this out, but it's going to be rough if it doesn't end with Daniel Bryan kicking someone. The crowd almost lost it when he shoved Shane.

That was the best Jinder Mahal and he totally brought it. AJ made everything he did look amazing, but Jinder looked like a guy trying to earn the title back with the front office and he may have succeeded. The only problem is that I can't imagine many other faces on the roster that can wrestle that match with him and make people care. Definitely the first time he wrestled like a main event guy. Loved all of his cuttoffs, and his little chop off the second rope could get some really good heat if he can work the audience better before he delivers it.
