Zimbra Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I was obsessed with Sneakers as a kid. I was 11 when it came out and I went and saw it 3 times in theaters. The only other movie I did that for was Batman.

odessasteps Posted June 12 Posted June 12 In hindsight, probably not. But when you introduce a VERY slowly paced French art film to a class of 20-something film students, the reaction probably won’t be good. I believe at the time I called it a two hour Calvin Klein commercial. 1
Curt McGirt Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Somehow feel this should have already been done? Because it's such a dumb idea, why wouldn't somebody. Spoiler 1 1
odessasteps Posted June 13 Posted June 13 My comics pal Karl Kesel is selling his copy of the Big Trouble in Little China one sheet key art poster signed by Drew Struzan. only $21 grand opening bid.
Andrew POE! Posted June 16 Posted June 16 September Criterion Collection releases got announced. They include: - Flow - Born in Flames - Read My Lips - The Beat That My Heart Skipped - This Is Spinal Tap 4K (finally no longer in OOS) - High And Low 4K - Isle of Dogs - The French Dispatch Isle of Dogs and The French Dispath are individual releases and also part of the Wes Anderson box set for a kidney / $500.
Curt McGirt Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Anybody seen Born In Flames? It sits on the DVR over here still, and has been for a loooooooong time.
Curt McGirt Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Kino Lorber is doing Four Rooms in 4K/Blu with a brand new HDR/DV master. I stand by this film still even if nobody else does 1
odessasteps Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Glad I can get the two new Wes films without buying the box set now.
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Cauldron Films has some great releases. American Rickshaw is worth checking out.
Curt McGirt Posted June 20 Posted June 20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY0guCiwzBw&ab_channel=CauldronFilms Here's the American Rickshaw trailer. That looks delirious. I've heard of next to none of the movies they're selling and I bet they're all awesome 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I am pretty sure it's run by DiabolikDVD, which would probably benefit greatly from me winning the lottery. 2
elizium Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Got a gift card for my favourite video store a couple months ago and finally got a chance to use it today. Had an unexpected day off so went to a matinee of The Phoenician Scheme (loved it) and the theatre is in the same mall. Picked up some great sleaze: Jailhouse Wardress (1981, dir. Alain Deruelle, Jess Franco) The Curse of the Screaming Dead aka Curse of the Cannibal Confederates (1982, dir. Tony Malanowski) Streets of Death (1988, dir. Jeff Hathcock) Blood Delirium (1988, dir. Sergio Bergonzelli) So my weekend is pretty much set 1
Contentious C Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Just got a pretty interesting email earlier mentioning that Criterion sold my personal info to Meta because of course they did. This is why we can't have nice things. 1

Got it on dvd from Troma and the cover is better than the film. Film aint horrid but can't live up to that title. 1

jaedmc Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 I haven't bought from a Criterion sale in ages. But I feel compelled to buy from my local B&N just because they don't really have a bluray section. It's essentually rhe equivalent of a comic book rack of dvds and blus. Their vinyl section is much more prominent. Basically I'm (foolishly?) hoping that if I buy more discs they'll stock more discs. I still prefer being able to go through "the stacks" vs. just buying it from online.

The disc came doubled with the same director's previous film Night of Terror, which I enjoyed a lot. It's more of a straight ghost story. The noble Confederate stuff in both of them have not aged well at all, as both movies are about a troop of soldiers that suffered atrocities at the hands of the Union army 1

Curse of Was that film for me. Then 2003/2004 ish Brentwood licensed a pile of titles from Troma and put out multipacks. One I got had Curse on it. Hell yea, called the buddies. Talked the then wife into going to see her parents with the kid that evening. Gonna sit there drink beer, smoke and just enjoy a film I had wanted to see for over 20 years. If I had seen it in the mid 80s I would have enjoyed it enough to make a copy. But by early 2000s it was another that I saw once off dvd and it sat on the shelf until someone I knew moved and had nothing to watch but dvds. Gave her close to 200 different horror films on DVD. Not all as bad as Curse. 1
bobholly138 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Got on the VS Red Rock West Blu ray. Already a mega improvement on the old 4:3 DVD i found 20 years ago at a Dollar General. Loved this film since the now ex wife rented it one night in the mid 90s. Neo Noir with Nic Cage,Dennis Hopper and Lara Flynn Boyle. Cage is a drifter in Wyoming. Gets mistaken for a hitman that is coming in to kill someones cheating wife. 1
