jaedmc Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 Side note, I did a little unboxing stream of my Black Friday Haul from Vinegar Syndrome. I watch trailers for most of the movies, and show off some of the packaging. I was really surprised at the quality of the Cinematographe releases. Might want to pick up more of those in the future. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2330912086 1
Curt McGirt Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Saw an ad for Arrow putting out a 4K of Don't Torture A Duckling. 2
Curt McGirt Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Finally calling it what it should have always been called 1
jaedmc Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 What company is that? Looks like a french one. Was the movie called Cabal over there?
Curt McGirt Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Yeah it's French. Looks like Scream Factory might still have domestic rights because they put it out as Nightbreed just last year. I guess it was Cabal in Italy? Anyway, this is what I found otherwise: https://clivebarkercast.com/2020/04/09/all-the-versions-of-nightbreed-explained/
Curt McGirt Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Apocalypse Now Final Cut is gonna be out in a 4K, six disc steelbook. 1
Mike Campbell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I've finally managed to get the 40th Anniversary 4K steelbook of The Terminator to go with my T-2 Blu-Ray steelbook. And I already explained to my daughter that those are the only two movies in the franchise that matter. I actually think I'm nearing the end of my physical media collecting days. At the moment, I can only think of maybe half a dozen films that I'd like to own physical copies of, mostly because of my OCD as far complete collections go.

Is there any strange touch up stuff with the Terminator movies? I'd read Cameron employed some peculiar tech to touch up movies like True Lies and The Abyss which make the actors have that AI generated rubbery-ness to it. I would probably be like you and just get Terminator 1 and 2 and leave the rest of the franchise as a distant memory. Just like how the first three Indiana Jones movies are the only ones.

There's supposed to be something with a scene in T1 where Linda Hamilton is riding her scooter into work for Sarah and her glasses make it look like she has two empty eye sockets in the new 4k.

I was nervous about the 4K because I'd heard how awful the T-2 4K was, and all the issues with the cameron 4K's earlier this year. But, I hadn't heard anything on this one. I just fired it up to check the scooter scene. I see what Phantom Lord is referring to, but it's literally a split second and it's more because it's a wide shot than anything else. If they didn't have the first shot of her riding and showing the reflective shades, then it'd definitely look fucked up. And yeah, with how Halloween, Alien, and now Terminator has started fucking up perfectly good stories and cannons, I've started calling them Choose Your Own Adventure. 1
Control Posted January 1 Posted January 1 It’s subscriber week at VS. I realize I didn’t order from them at all last year. That may change, as they’re starting the year off with THE SEVENTH CURSE, a Chow-Yun Fat film by the director of STORY OF RIKKI.

The entire concept is pretty wild, even by today's standards. It's not a particularly great Barbara Steele performance, but otherwise a solid gothic style horror. 1
bobholly138 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Got as a gift the Full moon EUROCINE vol 1 blu ray. So at work, yes sidejob allows me to watch anything I want, and my internet being shit after the tornados last weekend, worked my way through all by 1 of the 6 films. Night of the Eagles is decent worth seeing once. But it is a drama. Panther Squad is great cover and concept bad execution. Manic/Mania Killer is sleazy fun. Angel of Death is not as sleazy as i expected when I heard Nazis+Jess Franco. Downtown Heat is insane and fun. In a thick Blu Ray case. That comes in a VHS BIG BOX with mini lobby cards. Worth the 30 bucks it was in the sale. Not worth the 100 bucks they normally want. 2
Curt McGirt Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I really wanna see a lot of those Steele films. There is a TON of ancient Eurohorror I've missed out on through the years, like all the stuff you used to see being sold in the back of Filmfax Magazine. Castle of Blood, The Awful Dr. Orloff type shit. 1

Anyway, so far I ordered that Spanish 3-pack, the SEVENTH CURSE / WITCH FROM NEPAL, HORRIBLE DR HITCHCOCK, and GLORIA. That last one I ordered because I listened to a podcast about it and the entire background is wild.
Curt McGirt Posted January 7 Posted January 7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L_2UO6p5zw&ab_channel=SeverinFilms%2FIntervisionPictureCorp. Brand spankin' new SEVERIN CELLAR~! with Daniel Waters, the writer of Heathers, Batman Returns, Demolition Man, etc. He's got pretty bad Parkinson's, it looks like, which sucks. But like other Parkinson's victim Dean Malenko he is one of the funniest motherfuckers who you would absolutely love to kick it with. 1
Brian Fowler Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Holy fuck the new 4K transfer of The Searchers is God damn amazing. If this is the quality of work the Warner Archive is going to do on UHD discs, then I'm all in. 3
Curt McGirt Posted January 13 Posted January 13 https://variety.com/2025/film/news/john-woo-chow-yun-fat-golden-princess-shout-studios-1236272850/ Shout Factory got ahold of the Golden Princess library. Be prepared. 3
Control Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Excited for Peking Opera Blues. Honestly, don’t love Shout! as a label. Almost never on sale outside of the US.
