I'm saving for the Vinegar Syndrome sale, Memorial Day weekend.

Was unfamiliar with Vinegar Syndrome. Their catalogue seems to be 80% porn, 20% z-grade horror that shows up on Amazon Prime and/or gets riffed by Rifftrax, yes?

You're not entirely wrong.  For me, it's the horror that I used to rent from the video stores in my youth.  So the nostalgia factor is high.

As for their porn, I can't comment.

Vinegar Syndrome put out RAW FORCE on Blu ray. And that is enough to make them big time in my book. One thing you can say about them, if they do put a movie out that has other editions, you are almost guaranteed the VS version will be the best version with crazy deep extras.

VS discs that I have:

Ice Cream Man (a nice extra on this is that you can watch it with Monstervision version clips inserted)
Dear Dead Delilah (I could watch this movie over and over)
Raw Force (Maybe the most perfect film ever made?)
Nightmare Sisters
Deathrow Gameshow
Prime Evil
Lurkers
Shot

5 Films 5 Years Vol. 2
            The Muthers
            Murder on the Emerald Seas
            Flesh & Bullets
            Hang Up
            Dungeon of Harrow

On my sale wishlist

Night Train to Terror

Punk Vacation

Cutting Class

Liquid Sky

Demon Wind

Disco Godfather

Graduation Day

I'm not sure if this belongs here since it's literally the opposite of physical media, but everyone should be aware of how great the Night Flight Plus streaming service is getting regarding cult film labels.

Along with old episodes of Night Flight and tons of music docs, concerts, and a selection of old wrestling tapes, etc. they now stream selections from Arrow Video, Blue Underground, Something Weird Video, Full Moon, and today they just announced a deal with Severin Films.

For like $3.50 a month it's a pretty great deal.

I don’t know what night flight is, but holy hell they have a weird and esoteric collection. That Kung Fu library is something.

Just preorderd the two Paul Leni films from Flicker Alley. I've mentioned it before but I've been waiting for The Man Who Laughs to get a good bluray release for a long long time. It's great film. The other film in the bunch, The Last Warning, looks pretty fun too:

I kinda did this so that when the Vinegar Syndrome sale happens I don't spend 200 bucks on crazy shit. I've already pre-carted a bunch of items and I know I'll have to dump half when Friday rolls around.

PRO-TIP: A really nice thing about this sale is that if there's somethng like that you want to grab because it might go out of stock, you can order it right away and since they don't process any orders until after the sale is over, for the rest of the weekend you can shop more casually and any later items you order you can click "combine with existing order" in the shipping methods and they'll just stick it all in the same box and still only charge you once for shipping.

This did not stop me from ordering like 12 things at 3:00 a.m. last night. I bit the bullet and ordered ORGY OF THE DEAD even though I've seen it and it's terrible. But there's something weirdly alluring about Ed Wood in his prono era...i think it's the music. I may end up putting this on as a daily soundtrack as much as ever watching it.

Other highlights I ordered and would probably recommend:

Night Train to Terror

Malibu High

Penitentiary 2

Party Line

The Bees

And even though I didn't order this, if you haven't seen Welcome Home, Brother Charles and are intrigued at the idea of a convict getting revenge on the corrupt people who framed him and then tried to castrate him by killing them with his giant penis (which varies from a few feet to up to maybe 20 feet in length)...and is played totally dramatically for the most part...you might want to give it a look.

I feel compelled to mention I also bought my first fully "adult" VS title. I also feel compelled to justify this to both myself and the universe by posting here the plot summary that caused me to not be able to not buy this:

BLUE ICE

San Francisco private eye Ted Singer has just been hired by a wealthy eccentric to find and procure an ancient and mysterious book which reportedly has the power to grant anyone who can open it the gift of eternal life and power.  What he doesn't know is that the book has the power to turn any woman into a nymphomaniac,. Unknown to Ted, another group of individuals are also searching for the priceless artifact: a secret group of escaped Nazis who are hoping to use the book to take over the world...

Writers out there, this is what I like. Do more of this, please. Indiana Jones V people, I'm 'specially looking at you.

I stayed up and grabbed whatever as soon as the site went live.

Night Beast

Battle for the Lost Planet

Liquid Sky

The Suckling

Grandmother's House

The Corruption of Chris Miller

Then woke up and realized I could get the Slaughter House Bluray with the slipcase, and got that too.

There's others I want to add, but I got those two Flicker Alley discs jsut to keep me from being ridiculous on this sale. Which is like a crack head saying he bought some heroin so he didn't buy so much crack.

So I just realized I already bought Slaughter House on bluray. I'm a fool.

It's still factory sealed. It's the non-slipcover version.

I'm willing to trade it if anyone has something to offer.

On the heels of the Vinegar Syndrome sale, Severin is having their half price sale. Things released in the last 6 months and bundles not included.

Picked up the two documentaries on Video Nasties, The Stunt Man and a few other neat gross nasty Italian things.

Amazon was selling Arrow's Nikkatsu Diamond Guys Vol. 1 for $13.99.  I saw the alert on cityonfire.com, and I figured the sale was off ... until I checked and saw that the price was $9.99.  Ordered it before I realized that it had a "2-4 weeks" availability.  It's also listed as being a "limited edition" (3000 units) release.

Now I get to check every day to see if the order gets cancelled, or if there's still that one copy on the Amazon or Arrow warehouse that they'll send my way.  Let the game begin.
