2017-18 NBA: FIRST HALF

Dolfan in NYC

Markelle Fultz agent is saying that he had fluid drained from his shoulders and can't raise his arm to shoot, which raises the question of why the hell the Sixers are playing him at all.

Being a drummer for Spinal Tap is less hazardous than being a Sixers first round draft pick.

Isn't Detroit like a Mad Max city also?

Not there it isn't. Downtown is actually really nice. But it's immediate the charge when you get out of that ten or so block radius in any direction (well South you hit the river) age suddenly the buildings are run down.

But you have Ford Field, Comerica Park, the Fox Theater, and now Little Cesar's Arena surrounded by nice restaurants and trendy bars. The casinos are just a few blocks over. It's the heart of the attempted revitalization of Detroit.

Detroit is one of those cities where the nicest parts of much nicer than you'd expect and the worse parts are way worse than you'd expect.  I have some family in Detroit and the contrast between some of the neighborhoods they live in is phenomenal.  I have a cousin who lives in a fucking mansion that is as nice of a house as I've ever seen.  It is the type of house you'd expect to see in the Hamptons or in Malibu not in Detroit.  I also have a cousin who drove me to a party in Detroit and tried to give me a gun before we went in.

I was being facetious guys, I actually find really sad that such an emblematic city like Detroit has been through such harsh times.

I don't know how, but I hope all the public investment can revitalize the city.

Detroit is one of the few American cities with personality.  I'll never stop rooting for Detroit to get back on its feet.

The Sixers still have red alternate unis, right?  Can we start calling their rookies 'The Redshirts'?

JAEDMC'S LAURI MARKKANEN REPORT

19 Points on 7-12 shooting. 5-8 from three. Becomes the first rookie to hit 10 threes combined in his first three games, which is perhaps the most worthless ESPN style statistic. I like it just because we thought we'd be getting floor spacers in Doug McBuckets, and Nikola and that never happened. NBA thought we deserved a supercut of these 10 threes, and you gotta admit, that stroke is nice.

That is beautiful... Perfect form and quick release. I hope it eases the pain caused by the rest of the team.

Blake seems to be enjoying being the centrepiece of the Clippers offense. And Donovan Mitchell went from getting laughed at by the Clippers announcers last night at the half to almost single handedly bringing the jazz back from a 21 point deficit.

I really expected the Wizards to beat the shit out of the Lakers tonight after the LaVar bullshit.  I did not expect LA to come back, send it to OT and then win with one of the dumbest displays of defense I've seen in a long time.  Wizards basically begged LA to score, which they did.

On the bright side, Lakers won with not very impressive stats from Lonzo Ball.  And I hate saying that, I like him, but ugh, I hate his dad more.

EDIT:  That replay was something.  Ball froze like a statue on that final shot to avoid being called for anything and Wall fell down hoping for the call.

JAE'S LAURI MARKKANEN WATCH.

Bulls won their first game over the Hawks. Markkanen with his secon double double. 14 points. 13 rebounds. He also hit the ice cold three to put us up by four and the game just out of reach. Coming for that Rookie of the Year Award.

Noticeable flaws: I noticed that he wants to handle the ball but he's prone to getting the ball poked out. He's also trying to play defense, but he gets muscled out of position down low. Don't know if he'll ever be able to fix that.

OTHER BULLS

I actually watched the 4th quarter of this one. It's rough yall. I wish Denzel Valentine was better. He threw some real head scratchers up late. It was like watching a bad Kobe tribute performance.

David Nwaba put up 15 pts, 11 rebounds. Apparently he gets asked who the hell he is so much, that he wrote an article for The Players Tribune title WHO IN THE WORLD IS DAVID NWABA? https://www.theplayerstribune.com/david-nwaba-nba/

Mirotic is apparently open for trades. I say keep him, justas a punching bag buffer between Portis and the new Four God, Lauri Markkanen.

Just watched the Boogie highlights. Great stuff. I really want him and Anthony Davis to work out. As this era is more focused on small ball and electric point guards, I just want to see a couple of hoss players get together and dominate.

The rebounds were ridiculous. It's like no one even bothered.
