Sexual Assault and Harassment in Hollywood

I'm happy that people are emboldened enough to say something.  Now If we could pry due process out from underneath the bus it was thrown into, lest we enter The Crucible phase of this venture.

Trump using the Shaggy "It Wasn't Me" defense for the TMZ video made me laugh and laugh and laugh.

And then Billy Bush was like, "Oh yes, it was you, mother fucker," and I laughed some more.

When the law of the land is enforced in an egalitarian manner, then the general public won't have to resort to public shaming tactics to exhort any kind of justice. So, basically never.

I've never been a huge fan of the court of public opinion, but I see the need for it when the actual justice system does not seem to adequately protect the people it is supposed to protect.

That's cool. I thought Kaepernick had already received the Time Person of the Year but I guess that was a different Time award.

He received SI's Muhammad Ali award this year, when Altuve and Watt received Sportsperson of the Year.

I believe he's thinking about GQ's Citizen of the Year award he won where afterwards everyone clowned Popeyes devouring, culture vulture sorority girl turned conservative succubus Tomi Lahren for tweeting a nonsensical picture of Kap kneeling while soldiers were storming the beaches of Normandy.

As Amazon investigates the complaints, the series is suspended in an agonizing limbo. For instance, Mr. Tambor was widely believed to be leaving “Transparent” after he issued a statement saying, “I don’t see how I can return.” Yet a representative for the actor disclosed to The Times recently that, in fact, Mr. Tambor had no plans to quit.

Today's episode of WNYC's "On the Media" was all about the scandal at WNYC itself, with presenter John Hockenberry leaving the station on seemingly good terms earlier this year, only for a number of women, especially women of color, reporting that he had harassed them sexually and otherwise and generally bullied the shit out of them, and the station did effectively nothing until his contract ended and they didn't renew.

Sometimes I wonder if she really believes the ultra-right wing shit she spouts out.  She doesn't really strike me as a true believer pundit like Mark Levin or Sean Hannity.

She reminds me more of an Alex Jones "let me gather a rabid fanbase unto myself so that I can keep making a steady paycheck" kinda person.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear she was banging Trevor Noah.  Their "feud" is mutually beneficial in galvanizing people to their respective sides.

She was a liberal in college. And she's only 25, so that's a quick turn around to go from the left to the far right. I mean, it's entirely possible, but it's just really weird.

I just think that once you realize you've got a captive audience that hangs off of your every word and chimes in with constant consensus the "they like me, they really like me" feeling kicks in and you'll keep on saying whatever just to continue to be accepted.

I don't think she's a financially predatory as Jones, but she definitely enjoys the amirite part of using Twitter.  Why else would you pick a social media fight with Beyoncé?

I think she was hired by a company to fit a particular type of role within The Blaze, and she conformed to what they wanted/needed. And was well compensated for it. You don't go, within a matter of a few years, from being neutral or pro-(insert subject) on stances like global warming or gun control to 100% all the way "fuck that, it's fake news" without some prodding and lining of the pockets.

Fair play if she actually had a genuine change of heart, but... I don't think she did, personally.

She believes what she believes because the people that follow her want her to believe it.

Or something.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she has a black boyfriend as a way to justify her racism (look at Milo and Ann Coulter). I mean those rabid Alt-Right/white nationalist people just got mad at Lauren Southern the other day for possibly having black boyfriends. I don't think it's necessarily Trevor Noah because she was doing the same hate/love thing with Charlemagne the God and ended up on the Breakfast Club, which I'm casting a side eye to them for. But then again, they had on non-famous people with a Phd in "comic books" (really this person knows very little about comic books and just did a thesis on racial themes in the Boondocks comic strip) so the bar for guests is set very low already.

She's also friends with Maj Toure, the Black Guns Matter dude on Twitter who also has some questionable people around him who might be white supremacists or self hating black dudes.

I don't think it's like a worked feud thing as much as these dudes are infatuated with some interchangeable young blonde who might give them play.

Anyway, I don't care all that much and we've delved into this way too much already.

Yeah, I have been trying to transition back to the topic at hand, unsavory though it may be.

Maybe it's because I've been into pro wrestling for so long, but I automatically assume most political commentators are just gimmicks and are working the marks.

Me too.

It's not.  Word on the street is that it is Kevin Martin

Least shocking take ever

I await Volition responding to this by putting out a Saints Row reboot with a mission where Julius figures out that Troy Bradshaw is a narc and wants you to clip him and make it look like an accident.

No big surprise that Rapaport once pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment of an ex-girlfriend. Add onto that his Barstool blog post about Blac Chyna's lawyer going after Rob Kardashian for revenge porn and how he was pretty triggered by that and you have the makings of your typical bro-douche.

Fuck Ron Pearlman, too.

Independent of Michael Rapaport being dumb as a rock, who is paying good money to go to a Wag the Dog retrospective?  It was, like, the 56th best movie of 1997.

Back on topic: This NY Times story about the fucking infrastructure that Weinstein built to cover for being a raping-ass rapist is absolutely chilling and goes a long way to answering the "How could this go on for so long?" question.

Wag the Dog sucked.

Michael Rappaport sucks more. Go tell Michael Rappaport to go fuck Michael Rappaport. Also, of all the people you want to talk shit to, you pick John Oliver? Rappaport is dumb as a box of rocks. If Oliver doesn't go after him it will be because it's too easy.

Forgot to mention, I read up on this a little last night.  The biggest eye-opener to me was that one of his former co-hosts signed an NDA with WNYC, wouldn't give a statement in the original story in The Cut magazine, and now she's talking.  It's in blatant violation of the NDA, but she's decided telling her story is more important.
