InVicta FC 28

Cortez vs. Neil was a great opening bout and one of the better fights of the night with some amazing reversals on the ground followed by a counter to that amazing reversal. DeCoursey won her fight more easily then Cortez and went to 2-0 in InVicta. Kenneson was able to win her fight against the debuting Chandler who is a Diaz trainee who almost won the fights several times by submission but Kenneson was able to get a knock down in the 1st round then win one more to get the Decision.

Schwartz dominated the 1st 4 mins of her fight then seemed to gas a little giving Hansen the chance to come back in the fight until the 2nd round Schwartz landed a nasty elbow then painted the canvas with Hansen's blood for the stoppage. Grusander won by TKO in the 2nd round after a slow start to the fight. Pearl won her InVicta debut and is one to watch in that division. Dudieva was finally able to end her losing streak by a TKO finish in the 2nd round luckily for me after the Michigan vs. FSU had just ended. Bennett won her return to InVicta FC and Jandiroba was able to beat Mizuki by controlling her on the ground.

Happy to see Milana Dudieva finally get a win again and a stoppage at that. I'm glad for the change as she was originally scheduled to fight Mizuki here and I was afraid that wouldn't have gone as well, but she did great here. Also glad to see DeAnna Bennett return home and end her losing streak as well, always liked her.

So are Rena & Reina banished or are they going to take their time in rehabbing them? I see da king got a win last month in Jewels.

McCall going back in the deep end. I wish him success but Kyoji is a tough out.

RENA has a ton of sponsors and she's always working with them, so I'm sure that's keeping her busy and they will most likely want to save her star power for a bigger Saitama Super Arena event.

I'm not sure I've posted this on here before or not, but from what was gathered at the end of last year, Juju Auclair, Tenshin and RENA are RIZIN's top draw. Kyoji didn't become the needle mover they hoped for or at least didn't appear to be one last year. They still have time to build him up. Juju is revelation though. I don't think anyone was really expecting her to be such a big draw.

Apparently, Benson Henderson beat Roger Huerta yesterday. This is a thing that happened.

Yep that he did and he looked as close to UFC Benson as he had so far.

Make sure to check out Borics' nasty knockout.

Andrey Kovalev is apparently a former WWF champion:

Also Gabi Garcia is fighting Veronika Futina at ROAD FC 47 and she said she will return to RIZIN in July.

Dillon Danis is making his debut against a Manchester City right back?

Seriously though, I know he's never fought in MMA, but given all his talk he should've been given a guy with more experience ala throwing Aaron Pico in there against Zach Freeman.

Fedor's about to go 0-2 in Bellator...

I'm surprised they didn't try to beef up the undercard especially in the midst of the NBA playoff games. Gerald Harris just stepped in for John Salter against Rafael Lovato. I mean you can have that on an undercard in Thackerville w/ the Oklahoma connections. How is that going to get folks to tune in?

Also, Dan Stittgen....apparently not dead from that Wonderboy kick.

i was a big Fedor fan, especially in the Pride-Affliction-Strikeforce days.

i want him to beat Mir, but i also don't want him to look like he did vs Maldonado ever again. can he win tonight and then retire so this tourney doesn't kill him?

Bellator 198 averaged only 581,000 viewers. I guess that's better than the 242,000 average viewers for Bellator 197.

How is Bellator making any money right now? I almost never see live gate and attendance numbers anywhere for Bellator. Even UFC 223, for all its problems, still had about 17,000 people in attendance and a reported $3 million gate.

Supposedly the gate was just below the MSG card which was at $1.6 million which is believable given that Fedor can draw in Chicago (or half an hour away from Chicago if we're being truthful).

On the money making end...I guess sponsorship and deals with local venues (hence why they still run WinStar World Casino). I can't fathom it being much pass that.

InVicta FC 29

Peralta and Vlismas kicked off the card with a good fight. Spangler had a great Pro debut and Avila/Allen had a sucky finish to the fight which hopefully they run it back in the future. Pearl Gonzalez won her 2nd rehab fight in InVicta FC by submission and Kianzad got back on the winning side. Sarah Kaufman was able to win another title and complete her goal of Gold in InVicta FC.

First RIZIN 10 intermission (4:39 AM EST):

Most of the fights have been pretty forgettable. Kitai/Kurogi and Rozenstruik/Kovalev had their moments when they got wild, but not enough to really make them worth going out of your way to watch. Rozenstruik got a yellow card for greasing.

Murata looked good. She got hit with an elbow during a takedown and her eye was almost closed shut, but she still managed to pull of an strong anaconda choke.

I'm bummed Lyss lost, but she looked good against Hamasaki. She needs to work on her striking a lot, but her sprawls and sub defense are pretty good.

Asakura vs. Kape has been FOTN so far. The first round was fireworks for the most part and both guys looked really good. Close fight that could have gone either way, but I thought based on the RIZIN judging criteria, Kape should have won. Far from a robbery however.
