Movies where a character is in the title but is not in the movie

I think he is referring to the actual Lord of the Rings aka Sauron.

Sauron appears in the opening scene of first movie aka The Silmarillion:  Cliff Notes Edition, but only manifests himself in the form of the Eye in Two Towers and Return of the King

No it dies not fit.  Mr. Goodbar is an ideal, not a person.  That doesn't count as a missing or non existent character.

We're talking about something like John Malkovich not appearing in Being John Malkovich.
