No Time To Die - James Bond XXV - Fall 2021

I can't find the old Bond thread, so, onwards and upwards...

Remember when Daniel Craig made shitty Spectre and he said, "Okay, that's enough."  Well, time and distance, and a mansion, literally built from money... make the heart grow fonder.

Producers:  We'd like for you to do another Bond film.

Daniel Craig:  Get bent, tossers.

Producers: Christopher Nolan will direct.

Daniel Craig: Ummm....

I suppose this will be the thread where I continue to rail against the Bond franchise for never getting Oasis to perform a Bond theme.

We will just pretend that Radiohead performed the opening theme for Spectre.

This is also the part of the thread where I am sad about Heath Ledger not living long enough to either take over the mantle of Bond or play a Bond villain.

Sequence:

Casino Royal (2006)

Qauntum of Solace (2008)

Skyfall (2012)

Spectre (2015)

More odd Craig Bond films, less even please.

There is a running joke about how Craig's Bond films are the opposite of Star Trek films.

Hiddleston pretty much auditioned for Bond when he did The Night Manager and I'd say he met the grade.

I'd cast him if Tom Hardy or Aiden Turner were unavailable.

I have a feeling that Sony and EON will give enough money to Craig to get another one out of him after his contract runs out. The last two made so much money that I can't see them wanting to change things up since a new Bond will equal a new direction for the films.

I remember when X-Men First Class came out it seemed like Fassbender was pretty much doing a dry run to be the next Bond. Alas, that was years ago now

Same here. Michael Fassbender and Karl Urban were also my preferred choices for Batman when The Dark Knight Trilogy ended.

I think I threw this out there when Deadpool came out, but I think the next Bond should be Ed Skrein.

Frankly, I've been disappointed with every film since Casino Royale and would be fine with a semi-reboot. Craig's great, but the tone of the movies has been scattershot between Nolanesque earnestness and cramming in as many references to the legacy films as possible.

Personally, I think the only bad one was Quantum. As for the next? Hiddleston is too light weight, the Night manager was good, but he's not Bond. Fassenbender would be acceptable or maybe Richard Armitage. But they are going to moneywhip Craig for a few more I imagine, so the eventual replacement probably won't be in this group.

Looks like many of you missed Daniel Craig talking about those comments he made. It may have been on the Nerdist or another podcast, but they talked about what he had to say about filming Specter. Basically, he said it was the most brutal shoot he's ever done. He tore his ACL, had to go out with this torn ACL and shoot more scenes, I think I remember him saying he was sick for stretches of it, and there was some other injury he sustained. He basically got done filming the movie while he's all fucked up and then looked at then having to do a press tour.

So on top of all of that, he didn't want to do the typical song and dance that people usually do on the press tour. People don't tend to get his dry sense of humor and he was clearly in a IDGAF mood, which lead to him saying stuff like "I'd rather slit my wrists..." I want to say that he was asked if he would return and he said then that he was open to returning.

Last report I heard I remember reading was that after Barbara Broccoli co-produced his last sage peformance he was pretty much onboard for Bons 25 and thy just needed to come to terms.
