The Natural
I'd like Martin Campbell after GoldenEye and Casino Royale.

John from Cincinnati
Just now, The Natural said: Christopher Nolan for the win! Having said that, doubt it will be. I still don't understand this. Nothing about Nolan's work suggests to me that he'd be a good fit for a Bond movie.
Brian Fowler
Reportedly MGM had final say on whether they were going to use Boyle's script or the one by the guys who wrote the last four. I'm guessing MGM picked the latter. If it was my call, I'd say Brad Bird

It'd be way off brand if we got a Bond movie this decade that's a fun movie first and foremost.
odessasteps
Bird would be a good choice if they ever did what I'd love, which is a period Bond movie.

I never really got the appeal of those movies but maybe I just hate shaky cam, quick cuts, and Matt Damon's face. A period Bond movie would be a great idea. It's going to be very tough for whomever takes over the role, as Craig's series of movies really reinvigorated 007 after the shit show of Brosnan (sans Goldeneye). Outside of Dalton, I don't think anybody ever captured Flemming's Bond's tone as well as Craig. Connery will forever be the quintessential Bond but those two really nailed how miserable and critical Bond was in the books and I loved both of their portrayals for that. Brian Fowler
I think Casino Royale (No, Mark, not that one) is probably my favorite Bond movie, but QoS was so fucking bad. I'm hoping odd numbered Craig films keep hitting though.
AxB
Kathryn Bigelow directed Blue Steel, Near Dark and Zero Dark Thirty. She'd be ideal for a Daniel Craig Bond movie.

Wasn't Casino Royale supposed to be something like that? If not exactly a origin pic, it seemed like he was a younger bond anyway.

I remember he earned his 00 status at the beginning, though I was thinking something more along the line of showing his earlier life then entering the Royal Navy and being recruited by MI6. Not that I want to see something like that, it just strikes me as something they'd try as making a prequel/origin story is a standard way of milking a franchise for all its worth. (BP)
There’s an ongoing book series called Young Bond, that’s basically the result of a eureka moment when someone working at the Fleming estate saw both Young Indiana Jones and Harry Potter and said, “I can do that.”

I've said for years, I really wish they'd have used Craig to retcon the Bond mythos so that "James Bond" and "007" were both parts of the identity assumed by whatever agent is promoted to the Double 0 level. It's a quick and tidy way to deal with there having been 6 different guys and defuses any further debates as what James Bond "looks like." He hinted at that during his first confrontation with M in Casino Royale, but Skyfall``` & Sp*ctr* dashed all those hopes for me. 2

(BP)
Apparently, the Bond manor at the end of Skyfall was originally supposed to be a retirement home for double 0s, with potential cameos from old Bonds. When I found that out it infuriated me even more that the rewrite implied the exact opposite about whether Bond was a code name. Either everything before Casino Royale is a completely different continuity or, as posited by the James Bonding podcast, every mission from before Casino Royale happened in some form between QoS and Skyfall, which is why he seems to go from brand new double 0 to washed up veteran so quickly.
