Good god. That Yankee bullpen is intimidating. Adding Robertson and Kahnle to Betances and Chapman? That's a hell of a foursome.

No wonder they got that new sponsor. [Insert your level of creep factor for sponsor here] Examples: Pornhub.

Also, the Giants are going to bring back Sandoval if he passes medicals.

The nice thing is about this trade is it's not purely a rental. Robertson is signed through next season and Kahnle is signed through 2020.

No surprise about the Giants bringing Sandoval back.

The Seattle Mariners acquired right-handed reliever David Phelps from the Miami Marlins after the teams agreed to a trade on Thursday, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

The Marlins reportedly will receive four prospects (Outfielder Brayan Hernandez, 19, and right-handed pitchers Brandon Miller, 22, Pablo Lopez, 21, and Lukas Schiraldi, 23) in exchange for Phelps.

I'm really liking the Mariners getting Phelps. Our bullpen has been ok recently but has been very up and down all year. Wouldn't mind seeing them trade for a good back end starter too.

Four prospects for David Phelps is an awful lot. All the Yankees got for Phelps and Martin Prado were Nathan Eovaldi and Garrett Jones, neither of whom are even Yankees anymore. Eovaldi is now Tampa Bay's problem as he recovers from TJ surgery and Jones is playing in Korea.

The Mariners have acquired left-hander Marco Gonzales from the Cardinals in exchange for minor league outfielder Tyler O’Neill, as per a Mariners press release.

Since clearly the Ms are crazy

Yeah I got nothing for this one. I don't mind trading O'Neil (he was blocked in the OF anyway by Haniger, Gamel and Heredia) but I feel like there had to be something more out there besides a dude who's missed almost 2 years due to injuries.

Chris Sale reached 200 Ks fastest than any pitcher in AL history last night

He's not gonna challenge the K record though since the Red Sox are already trying to manage his innings better in the 2nd half of the season (considering he leads the league in IP and is averaging like 110 pitches a game - that is probably wise)

He should be able to get to at least 300, though - he's still 85 innings below his previous max, and his SO9 average is a career-high 12.7.

Both Kershaw and Strasburg left their starts today with injuries

Kershaw's was tightness in his back

Strasburg's injury isn't disclosed yet as apparently the Nats are waiting for him to get checked by their own doctor

Kershaw to the 10 day, will see a back specialist in the next day or so. It seems like it is less serious than the deal that cost him six weeks last year,

Dave Roberts says:

“There wasn’t any shooting pain down the leg or the sensations that he felt last year, so that’s encouraging.”

The Royals have announced an interesting trade with the Padres involving a whole host of pitchers, as Robert Murray of Fan Rag has first reported on Twitter. Kansas City will add starter Trevor Cahill, righty reliever Brandon Maurer, and southpaw Ryan Buchter. In exchange, the Pads will pick up southpaws Matt Strahm and Travis Wood along with infield prospect Esteury Ruiz.

The Twins have acquired lefty Jaime Garcia and catcher Anthony Recker from the Braves, per a club announcement.  In return, Atlanta acquires young righty Huascar Ynoa.

As part of the swap, the Braves will send $100K to cover a piece of Recker’s remaining salary, Jon Heyman of Fan Rag tweets. Minnesota is absorbing all of Garcia’s remaining salary, per MLB.com’s Mark Bowman (via Twitter); that represents just over $4.5MM of the original $12MM salary.
