It's that 100 dollars then this show becomes very expendable. Last I heard, they were hoping for 200k buys. I think it probably settles at around 90k-100k. I think you are giving people too much credit, most sports fans don't plan out their event spending two months in advance. The last two or three days leading up to the PPV (including the day of the fight) is what matters. However, using the May/Pac PPV as the example, a huge record breaking PPV has an effect on the entire PPV industry when it comes to customers picking and choosing. Something like this show, which was only going to have a limited number of eyeballs on it anyway, just had some of their business chopped away automatically. There are five major PPVs in combat sports between today and mid September. This is the least important one just because it comes on the heels of a major announcement. That's dominating the news still when Bellator is putting on supposedly their biggest show of the year. I know it hurt the Ward vs. Kovalev rematch, and that needed all the help it could get too. We're being offered a pair of freakshows that theoretically should having us turning our collective noses up and seeking out the NEXT BIG THING, who is probably fighting at a reservation casino for fifty bucks cash and fifty bucks free play. But let's get real, we're likely going to hit the pub on the other side of town to watch Money scamper around avoiding getting hit by Conor for the duration of the fight. It won't be pretty, it won't even be interesting, but we're still going to go and drink over-priced micro brews with a bunch of hipsters whom we would normally cross the street to avoid talking to because we're hardcore MMA fans and we're stupid like that. Now as for this Bellator nonsense with a brutal striker facing a so-so wrestler, (gee, wonder what will happen here?). Let's admit it, we're going to watch this PPV, not to see if the Last Emperor can pull off a successful farewell tour, not to see what should be a good fight between Chandler and Primus, no, those are interesting questions that will get answered, but what will get us to shell out our hard earned cash is the opportunity to see the Axe Murderer pound Chael's face into a blood pudding. Don't sometimes they have the doctor check a cut even by legal means if they fear it is obscuring vision? I mean clearly this wasn't that and was a bad call.
