Sadly - but not surprisingly - Valerian reviews are starting to come out and they aren't good.

RT currently has 6 fresh and 1 rotten with that one being THR saying it's Razzie material.

9 (7 fresh, 2 rotten) with those two rotten being from top critics. IMO too early call if it's going to trickle in slowly.

Considering how badly a lot of these films got trashed early on, it could be significantly worse though.

I'm the only person in North America that is stupid enough to want to go and see that movie.

I have a complete set of the graphic novels in my man cave.  Valerian is a beloved part of my adolescent years.

It seems to be a very polarizing movie, which is interesting.  The majority of the early reviews are positive, but those who don't like it really think it's terrible.  Dane DeHaan is having quite the year for weird movies, with Cure For Wellness and now this.

I wasn't planning on seeing it and probably still won't, but if a friend was trying to get me to go, I wouldn't say no.

You're not. I'm not familiar with the source material, but I'm up for a good new science fiction property. And am still holding out hope that it's good.

Fortunately for most of you, Girls Trip wasn't on the list of available of films for this year's contest. Currently, 8 out of 8 fresh reviews on RT.

It seems like people really love Tiffany Haddish, which it is funny because she kinda struggled to make a name for herself as a standup for years and it seemed like being on the Carmichael Show for however brief it lasted was probably going to be the highlight of her entire career. Good for her considering I remember her being on Foxxhole Radio almost a decade ago and being known as a female comic who was destined to toil as an opener/middle.

Hopefully with Cars 3 doing poorly (currently #17 of 18 Pixar movies) it will be the last in the series. I enjoy Pixar but more when they are being creative, don't think anyone was really clamoring for another Cars movie.

I am clamoring for an Incredibles sequel and still haven't gotten it, even though it is rumored to be in development.

This is comforting because I know I will get dragged to watch this as quid pro quo for the matinee of It Comes At Night last weekend.

Incredibles 2 is coming out next summer. It has a release date and everything (June 15, 2018)

In fact - concept art was released earlier this week

So not sure why you are still doubting its existence

I was stunned recently rewatching the second season of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' seeing her as a random stripper with about two lines of dialogue.  Seems she's been grinding away in bit parts for the better part of 12ish years now.

Yeah, I remember her on Always Sunny as well. But that's the grind of your average black female standup. Every now and then I see like a Luenell show up in Taken or Borat as an under five, and it will weird me the fuck out. Then someone like Leslie Jones, who was doing standup forever it seemed like, gets a gig on SNL and blows up from there. It's like the inverse of a Issa Rae who was popular on the internet for like 2 or 3 years max among a certain section of black folks and then boom...got her own show on HBO. Never know when it's your time, I guess.

YES~!  I AM COMING FOR MY FUCKING COPY OF TRAIN TO BUSAN~!  IT BELONGS TO ME~!!

On the reals, my "meh" ranking of Dunkirk and Valerian on my RT ballot will probably kill my run at the jewels.

Cold comfort will come in watching Valerian in the theaters and not hating myself.

Post-weekend, Spider-Man Homecoming has $207.3 million after 10 days in theaters.  Wonder Woman had $206.3 million after 10 days so that's shaping up to be a close race.  (Spider-Man started out $12 million ahead on its first day, but it's been flagging a little.)

I totally forgot that that the Blood Simple Criterion was up for grabs.

Suddenly Second Place does not feel like First Loser..

We'll see how I feel after Update 11 of 17.
