I also don't think it will be completely horrible. Thus the "eh" position for it on my RT list and absence from my BO list. Watch it be either the sleeper hit of the late summer or a colossal failure of epic proportions and totally screw over my ballot. Then I will go to the parking lot and slash someone's tires at random.

I remember my whole rationale for having Lucy low on my RT list is that all his recent films haven't done well critically. I think this might help determine if Lucy was an outlier, or that he got his groove back.

_MJ_
Anyone thinks this summer looks as if it's going to be a bad year for summer blockbusters? I'm interested in Baby Driver, Atomic Blonde, and Wonder Woman, but I don't consider the first two true blockbuster summer flicks. I looked at my list again, and I have no idea why I put Planet of the Apes sequel so high on my RT list. Drunk.

RossWB
Damn, forgot to make my picks here before GotG v2 came out... whoops. I'm sad I missed out on some easy box office points there, but I'll still give it a try this year... BOX OFFICE 1) Despicable Me 3 (Jun 30) 2) Spider-Man: Homecoming (Jul 7) 3) Transformers: The Last Knight (Jun 23) 4) Wonder Woman (Jun 2) 5) Cars 3 (Jun 16) 6) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 26) 7) War for the Planet of the Apes (Jul 14) 8) Baywatch (May 24) 9) Dunkirk (Jul 21) 10) Alien: Covenant (May 19) 11) The Mummy (Jun 9) 12) Atomic Blonde (Jul 28) 13) King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (May 12) 14) Baby Driver (Jun 28) 15) All Eyez On Me (Jun 16) ROTTEN TOMATOES 1) Baby Driver (Jun 28) 2) Dunkirk (Jul 21) 3) Spider-Man: Homecoming (Jul 7) 4) Alien: Covenant (May 19) 5) War for the Planet of the Apes (Jul 14) 6) Atomic Blonde (Jul 28) 7) Wonder Woman (Jun 2) 8) Despicable Me 3 (Jun 30) 9) Baywatch (May 24) 10) The Mummy (Jun 9) 11) Cars 3 (Jun 16) 12) Transformers: The Last Knight (Jun 23) 13) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 26) 14) The Emoji Movie (Jul 28) 15) King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (May 12) TIEBREAKER: Spider-Man Homecoming -- $247,000,000 I have no idea what to make of VALERIAN or DARK TOWER. I'm *hoping* that VALERIAN is fun and wild and a spiritual successor to FIFTH ELEMENT... but it could also be incoherent crap. And even if IS fun and crazy, it still may not do any box office. So I just stayed away entirely. I just can't get a read on DARK TOWER, critically or box office-wise.
Elsalvajeloco
Based on the current fan reaction from screening, people may have been a little too hard on Legend of the Sword. If that sentiment reflects with the critics, it might settle around 45%-60% which isn't bad compared to what everyone expects. In comparison, the early reaction for Covenant is split and contentious at best. Both of those films might be in the same range when all is said and done. RIPPA
Usually crowd reaction is higher than critics Not saying you are wrong but I am still waiting for actual reviews to come in Granted King Arthur won't bone me as much as say Dark Tower will if it is good
Elsalvajeloco
46 minutes ago, RIPPA said: Usually crowd reaction is higher than critics Yeah, I kinda took that into consideration. This more or less seems like acceptable dumb fantasy action movie w/ comedy thrown in. The negative reviews I've seem to be more aimed at Guy Ritchie than the actual film although some of the people who liked it seem to admit there are tonal issues and shit happening out of nowhere. If a good majority of critic reviews (which should be out pretty soon) let some of those things slide, it could end up in a range much higher than people expected. On the other hand, they could lambast it and go to town. Either way, this wasn't as safe a pick as anyone expected.
