Yeah, I got the message this morning.  Congrats to that unit.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was either Datto's clan or some of Mr. Fruit's people.  They all seem to enjoy the bragging rights that comes with being first at doing something in the game.

Clan Redeem was who did it first

Datto’s group was third

JT and I hooked up briefly enough this afternoon so I could kill the Trickster and we could each get the Triumph for using the explosive engram

It got dicey there for a second.  I forgot all about the second set of explosive engrams you could use to blow up the Scorn ash and trash once you get to the point where you have to breech the door to get to the boss fight with the Trickster..

I got an upgrade to the engram you receive at the conclusion of the Forsaken campaign missions after we finished the Trickster mission.  The engram has a counter that keeps track of how many Barons you kill over the course of the Forsaken campaign missions and Heroic Vanguard Strikes (The Fanatic reappears in the Hallowed Lair).

I think the upgrade unlocks if you complete all of the Triumphs associated with the Campaign storyline, but don't quote me.

Just keep checking your Forsaken story mission Triumphs to stay ahead of the curve.  By my count, the only ones left for you to get happen during the Rifleman mission and the Mindbender mission.

The Triumph associated with the Trickster mission was the last Campaign related Triumph I needed to complete, but there are also Triumphs associated with the Prison of Elders strike and the Hollowed Lair strike.

There is another upgrade to that Baron counter engram that is a rare drop when you open loot chests in the Tangled Shore.  I really do need to spend more time in the Reef, and I probably would if Gambit weren't so much fun.  If Gambit had been around during Rise of Iron, I'd probably have never quit playing Destiny and if it had been around at launch I'd probably have picked up D2 sooner than Season 2.

It has just occurred to me that I have never faced the Vex as the PvE enemy in a Gambit match.  Probably by design.

I still have two Gambit bounties in my queue from earlier today that I need to finish, but I had to pass out for work.  I think I have to get three more Void kills and probably a bajillion more Grenade Launcher multikills.  If the multikill bounty gets too tedious, I'll probably abandon it.

I can barely get my hands of Heavy ammo in Gambit lately thanks to selfish teammates.  Getting a chance to blow the shit out of groups of PvE enemies or invading to take out members of the other team with Play of the Game is a whole 'nother egg to crack.

I also have to get one more Grenade ability kill in the Crucible to secure my last PvP bounty from today's reset..

For some reason the Vanguard stuff took FOREVER to get done this afternoon (I am 32% through my Wardcliff Coil catalyst.. *sigh*) and I still need to piddle around the Tangled Shore to scrape together more Ghost Fragments so that I can buy more bounties from The Spider..

I'm not setting foot in the Dreaming City until I am at least 540 and I am around 517 - 523 right now depending on what weapons I have equipped.  I think all of my armor pieces are 517 or better..

On the plus side, I got my first Cold Fusion medal in the Crucible today.  The Merciless catalyst is up to 6% after burning dudes to death in PvP turned out to be more fun that bargained for.. My lifetime Crucible ER is up to 1.57 now.  Yay!

I think I am 70% or so through this Redrix's Broadsword thing so more Pulse Rifle killing in the Crucible is also on the horizon for me.  Bungie needs to haul ass and have a Double or Triple Valor weekend.

I'm not going to worry about The Chaperone until I get a good shotgun drop at random.  I got a Badlander every other drop before the Holiday Family History dropped for me and now it's back to Edge Transits every time I get a grape gumdrop.

Furthermore on the plus side, I won my tenth Gambit match today.  MOMENT OF TRIUMPH~!

I usually don;t have trouble getting heavy ammo in Gambit, but my teammates have a habit of ignoring it when it loads up or is dropped. I usually pump everything into the Prime Evil.

Your current level is fine for the Dreaming City. It will only become a problem if you are trying to do the Heroic Blind Well or Last Wish Raid.

My Play of the Game grenade launcher has a Boss Spec mod, so I tend to save my Heavy for the Prime Evil and even then I don't start lobbing bombs until we're at Level 6 or 7 of the Bonus Damage phase.

It's around that time that Invaders like to come in to steal a win, so I also try to keep one Heavy Ammo round in the chamber to blast an Invader before he heals up the Prime Evil my team is fighting.

I usually save my Heavy and my Super for the Prime Evil unless I am running Nighstalker and then I stick to Crowd Control and weakening yellow bars so that either I or my teammates can snatch up as many motes as possible.

Okay, then I'll see what I can do with Petra's weekly bounty challenge.  I could use the gear upgrade / infusion fodder.

I haven't really pulled any of the weekly bounties save for the 8 dailies one, but I also suck compared to other players. Really I just need to find some people to do an ascendant challenge with along with some Blind Well.

Yeah, I wanted to be able to roam freely thorough the Dreaming City including the Blind Well,  so that's why I was waiting until I got closer to 540.

I may have to pull some Court of Oryx shit from back in the day and just loiter around the well and let higher LL players carry me to another Seed of Light.

Aha.  Thanks to Clan Redeem clearing the Last Wish raid, there is a new Gambit map that is now active and the Vex are in the enemy queue!

Petra also has a new mission to complete and there is a change to the cutscene when you first return to the Dreaming City.  It also looks like The Corrupted got added to the Vanguard Strike list, so there is another Triumph for me to hunt down.

Holy fuck, Clan Redeem spent close to 19 hours doing that shit.  If it is takes that long all of the time, that raid can bite my ass for the immediate future.  I was close to becoming an alcoholic when our first Vault of Glass run took four hours to complete.

That is something that only pro players with that kind of time on their hands can pull off.  I have a job and stuff and occasionally I like to go out to dinner with my family.  Getting a good night's rest is also pretty awesome.

Apparently, Clan Redeem is made up of mostly of PvE specialists.  They have the first clears of Wrath of the Machine, Prestige Leviathan, and Spire of Stars to their credit.  Maybe its just me, but I would rather go down in history for something slightly more significant than being really good at playing a video game.

Either that or I'm just jealous that there is no way in Hell that I'd get 19 hours of free time just to play Xbox One.   I am not even sure I am capable of sitting at my game console and playing for that long on a regular basis.  Nutrition and REM Sleep would just go out of the fucking window.

The DARPA Clan raid leader, Ellis, is already digesting all of that Last Wish news so we may be getting prepped to go in once we can field a fireteam that is at least 540 Light.

Knowing our insane schedules and general sense of procrastination, we won't knock out the Last Wish raid until Season 5 is close to dropping.  Hell, we haven't even done Spire of Stars yet.  I was shocked when we decided one night to bite down on our mouthguards and barrel through Eater of Worlds.

Like I said earlier, after watching Datto's team clear last Wish, raids scare me. Theirs took just under 24 hours. I want to try one, but fucking hell is there no way I'm going that length of time to finish.

Also the Vex were in Gambit before the new map. You just somehow managed to avoid them. I'm not sure how and honestly it annoys me a bit that you did since those fuckers are harder than the Fallen and Cabal.

I got Vex in like the second Gambit match I ever did so they are there.

I chalk it up to the RNG being stuck. Like how we would get Cerberus 19 straight times in ME3

Finally did the Ascendant challenge this morning with two randoms from reddit. Its actually not too bad once you know what you are doing. I can see that being something I could potentially solo if they don't up the recommended power level later.

Finally added another Gambit kill to the Ace of Spades quest. I definitely got fucked out of a third somehow. Not sure what is up with that since I'm almost positive I was even the person to finish said invader off with the Crimson like I did the one before them. Also got kicked out Gambit for the first time which annoyed the shit out of me since it was towards the end of the third round. It was the first time I had hit the Dreaming City. Ended up gettign thrown into a third round in the Tangled Shore which was the first time I dealt with the Scorn in gambit. They are fucking terrible and possibly the worst group to run into. On the other hand Cabal using fucking turrets is damn near as bad. That was also another first time (the turrets, not the Cabal). That just sucked so much.

Yeah, I am not sure how I dodged the Vex bullet for so long.

Anyway, I finally won a match against Vex today so the A Gambit For All Seasons triumph unlocked for me today.  I also cobbled together a set of Ancient Apocalypse armor, so I am going for that last purple bounty tomorrow.

I got the arms from an engram I received as reward for completing a Weekly Bounty and I finally got enough Infamy so that I could buy the cloak from the Drifter's vendor stock.

The arms and chest pieces for the AA set are higher light than the Prodigal set I'm wearing, so that those piece are going to get infused while the rest of the set gets shredded.

I am 83% complete with the Pulse Rifle kills part of the Redrix's Broadsword dealie and just as I nuked enough enemies in Heroic Strikes to get up to 35% complete on my Wardriff Coil catalyst, up pops the Huckleberry catalyst so now I have a fourth new Exotic Weapon catalyst to grind.

I hate my OCD.

Hive are by far the worst group to fight in Gambit.  Shriekers just destroy the person that gets agro and isn't able to find cover quickly.  If your fireteam members are fucking about collecting motes and not putting priority fire on Shriekers to bring them down first, it will be a long match..

Next are the Scorn because every other opponent is either a yellow bar or has a elemental barrier and those fucking totems they cast are a pain in the ass.  It also does not help that nearly all of the ash and trash Scorn have a DoT effect attached to their melee attack.

Fallen, Vex, and Cabal are about the same level of nuisance, IMO. Cabal Scorpion Turrets and Vex Cyclopes can be a problem, but they don't seem to kill you as fast as Hive Shriekers do, or at least I've never had major issues with either enemy type.

The Hive haven't been too bad for me, but I don't think I've run into a Shrieker yet. Should have known they would have those damn things though since the Cabal have the damn turrets.

I got a second Seed of Light after doing Blind Well for an hour or so. I was mostly doing it to finish up the Weekly bounties before the reset, but it is nice to have. I suppose I will start working on another subclass soon since I have it.

Well, I was wrong about the Sleeper catalyst.  It drops in the Prestige version of the Spire of Stars raid, not the Dreaming City.

The hoops you need to jump through to grind it to completion is absurd.

Yeah.  Fuck that.

I only did Crucible last night to do the daily and weekly.

Did my usual - 1 of the 5 matches was Competitive. Countdown was the match type and I forgot how much I fucking hate Countdown. At least I was dragged to victory.

Definitely only missing a chest piece Wing Discipline and then I will have a complete set of Crucible Season 4 armor

So the Dreaming City has updated again. Petra has moved to the fast travel point. The Hive have replaced the Scorn in the area as well. No idea if its all over the place yet. A second mission has popped up that is seemingly a follow up to the first post Last Wish mission.

Iron Banner is now up after today's reset and the Flashpoint is in the Tangled Shores.

Go figure that today's Daily Heroic Mission was the Trickster.  If had not been able to help Rippa on Sunday, I would've been able to get the Trick or Treat triumph today.  Oh well, bird in the hand.

IB now has several Weekly Bounties to complete so you can either zerg through them or pace yourself over the course of the next few days.  My weekend gameplay time sucks, so I am going to try to get done as much as I can between now and Friday before.  I have to work 4 to Midnight starting Monday so I may get to cram in some IB on during the morning and then try to finish up early Tuesday before the new reset if I need to.

The IB was particularly sweaty today on Day 1 as I think I got only one win out of the five Crucible matches I had to participate in for the Weekly PvP challenge.

Hopefully the token drops are kind and I can cobble together a set of IB armor early in the week.  There is (SURPRISE!) triumph where you have to collect a set of IB armor and then participate in 5 matches / defeat 50 Guardians.  I usually average between 17 and 13 kills in a match, so it shouldn't take me 5 matches to defeat 50 other players.  I'd like to get that done this time around instead of waiting for Saladin to come back to town.

There are lots of dudes packing Tigerspites in the IB, but my trusty Go Figure with Rampage / Outlaw and the Counterbalance Mod are still keeping pace.

I knocked out the Gambit purple bounty this morning and I was a bit annoyed that I got more armor.  I'd have preferred to get a Gambit weapon out of that Powerful Engram..  I've also got two Gambit weekly bounties in my queue in addition to the IB bounties, but I am not sure if I am going to get to play as much Gambit as I want to this week.  I shredded two pieces of the AA armor and infused the others into my Prodigal pieces and the Cayde memorial cloak, so now I am a little over 520 LL.

I got lucky today.  My 100% Pulse Rifle kills coincided with a rise in my Valor rank so now the Redrix's Broadsword quest marker says that I need to get 75 Double Kills.  Since I will be doing a lot of PvP this week thanks to the IB, I should put a good dent in that counter before reset.  I need to make sure that those Double Kills are natural ones and that I don't have to get DKs with a Pulse Rifle alone.  That would suck.  The 25 Rumble matches I will eventually have to compete in may be the thing that makes me abandon this quest.

Now that I don't have a Pulse Rifle step to grind with the Broadsword quest, I think I will swap out for the Jade Rabbit and start grinding that catalyst along with these IB weekly bounties.

Triumph wise.  I've gotten my 25 wins as an Arcstrider, so now I am running Gunslinger / Way of 1000 Cuts in PvP.  When I win 25 as a Gunslinger, I'll switch to Nightstalker.   So far, so good for progress on the All Around triumph or whatever the hell it's called.

Oh, and there was a stealth nerf with today's patch.  The Sleeper Stimulant now has a slower charge time when it is used in Gambit during Invasions.

That is kinda dumb.  I hate it when I get blasted by Sleepers in Gambit, but the whole point of Invading is to hinder the other team as much as possible so that your team can win so bring your best weapons to the game, assholes.

The players whining about this are probably the ones that either grinding the Ace of Spades quest and suck at getting Hand Cannon kills on Invaders, or they are the insufferable assholes on your team who hog motes, don't deposit as often as they should, and then die when they are killed by opportunistic, intelligent Invaders who attack when the potential enemy mote count is high and the team can't deposit motes in the bank because the players haven't bothered to keep the area clear of blockers.

Not that I know about that from experience or anything.    HEY, ASSHOLES~?  WHY AM I THE ONLY TRYING TO GET THESE FUCKING OGRES AWAY FROM OUR BANK~??  Why don't people embrace the strategy of depositing often and dropping small and medium blockers on the other team when you notice that they are hording motes?  That's Gambit 101, gang.

No bank, no deposit, so clearing blockers should be a high priority so that no one dies with motes in their pockets. You also need to be smart about when you deposit.  If you can see a lot of grey space in their bank count, the enemy team is holding motes so that is the best time to send blockers over so that they can't deposit.

I never realized that the Rat King cannot be used in Gambit and it has been locked out since launch.  So much for my plan..  I am impressed that someone tested out that scenario before launch and made the decision to disqualify the Rat King from use in Gambit.  I usually hate the practice of Bungie telling us how we should play the game, but a coordinated fireteam running Rat Kings would be potentially game breaking for Gambit matches.

My last Gambit kind of sucked since damn near no one but me was depositing motes. When I have enough in the match results to have called on a damn Primeval myself I know something is wrong. I'm honestly not the best at getting and depositing motes. I tend to focus on taking out enemies and blockers while others usually collect. not sure what the hell these guys were doing. Also it is really annoying how I keep missing invaders. They either get me from behind, get taken out before I can get to them, or leave right when i'm about to kill them.

Used my second seed of light on my solar class. Just finished leveling that up. I expected to be annoyed with it, but it wasn't so bad in PvE or PvP. Solar has usually been the weaker one for me PvP wise. Might actually be a bit more useful there than Void is at the very least.

Iron Banner was weird for me. The first game was clearly glitched with everyone seemingly getting kicked out before and during the match. Came back half an hour later to win 3 in a row before losing the last one just barely. That one was kind of annoying since it was a decent comeback for the opposing team.

The Hive in the Divalian Mists is freaking chaos. They will try to fuck up whatever public event is happening every time. The Scorn are also still around, just not as many spawn points since the Hive took over many of them. I did do the second post Last Wish Mission. It was a bit more hectic than the first, and that boss battle was kind of evil.

I'm at 532-533 LL now.
