nofuture
Looks like Nixon Newell won't be in the MYC because of an ACL injury. http://squaredcirclesirens.com/newly-signed-nxt-superstar-injured/

Kevin Wilson
When I am wrong I sure am wrong, I don't know if it was due to cost, schedules, or what but it doesn't look like any of the joshi wrestlers I thought may be in it will be. SEAdLINNNG has an event on 7/14, so even though Regal was scouting there, they won't be in the tournament. Hiroyo Matsumoto is booked the 13th and 15th. WAVE has an event on the 15th, which covers their wrestlers + Manami Toyota. Makai has an event on 7/14 which covers Hikaru Shida and Syuri. Stardom wasn't going to be involved nor OZ. I dunno who else is even left that WWE would show any interest in. I really don't know who the other 16 wrestlers are going to be, now I am even more curious. I have no idea why they had to make it 32 in the first place.
Spritenaut 32
Relative to what it could be, the tournament is sounding underwhelming to me so far.

I have no idea why they had to make it 32 in the first place. Matsumoto was never going to be in this while she was double champ. Never really saw Toyota, Shida or Syuri as possibilities. I doubt any of them were on WWE's radar. Really outside of Saree & Arisa there no hints of any joshi talent participating aside from the obvious in Kairi. And the tournament is 32 to make to attempt to make it the same level of spectacle that the CWC was. WWE just screwed it up by not going for the same level of talent outside a few, choosing to give a decent amount of spots to PC talent who have only been around a year or two and whoever they could sign from the indies. Kevin Wilson
Shida was probably the best possibility, since she is a Freelancer and has seemed in the past to want to go to WWE. Its impossible to know who is on their radar until someone signs, but they know who she is. We aren't privy to their personal meetings so we don't know who internally they have talked about. Obviously the names I listed are Freelancers that can do whatever they want, Hiroyo included (nor was she a double champ when this discussion first started), I didn't expect any contracted wrestlers to appear outside of maybe SEAdLINNNG since Regal was at their show and talking to the wrestlers. The CWC had nine (official) US wrestlers, this may have 20+ US wrestlers unless they put some real unknowns from random countries or do an epic fudge job on what countries people are from. I'm glad I ended up not being able to get off work to go to the shows, as I really have little interest in watching a big tournament filled 50% with unknown/little known American indie wrestlers. Between the lack of known exciting wrestlers (aside from Toni and Kairi) and with JR/Lita on commentary, I have virtually no interest in watching the first few rounds and I don't see it getting a lot of interest in general. But hopefully the finals will at least be great to help catapult whomever they let go that far, Nixon being knocked out hurts a lot as she was one of the few I was looking forward to. RIPPA
I am curious as to how many women would have done it had it been during the original planned time of January (before they freaked out and did the UK stuff first) Like how many different people were available then and now circumstances have changed and they aren't doing it now (or have no desire to do it now)
nofuture
Just like the CWC, WWE will be airing the "Parade of Champions" live on Thursday on Facebook, introducing all the participants. http://www.wwe.com/shows/maeyoungclassic/article/watch-mae-young-classic-parade-of-champions-facebook-live
Niners Fan in CT
Uh, the women on the main roster aren't exactly wearing potato sacks out there. WWE isn't trying to "cover up" anyone, female or male. But these sound like the guys who would prefer bikini contests and bra and panties matches every week. There's a million streaming porn sites they can frequent. Kevin Wilson
I could see WWE just doing a general catch-all to the wrestlers to not wear something overly provocative but anything beyond that isn't overly believable.
Norwegian Rudo
Enthusiasm continues to plummet. Nixon out and this list of rumoured contestants doesn't contain a single one I'm excited to see.
RIPPA
Quote Among the names not announced yet who are said to be involved are a number of U.S. independent women wrestlers including Shayna Baszler, Rachael Ellering (as Rachael Evers), Santana Garrett (formerly with TNA who has worldwide experience), Renee Michelle (who has done WWE extra work in the past), Barbi Hayden (a former NWA champion), Nicole Savoy (from Northern California), Mercedes Martinez, Marti Belle (formerly from TNA), and U.K. wrestler Ayesha Ray. That's from WON Baszler, Ellering, Savoy and Martinez are all positives for me. At a minimum because I like them far more than random PC folks

DreamBroken
I love that Mercedes might be in, great veteran to include. Always liked Marti Belle and Shayna would be a unique addition to it as well. RIPPA
Also - on JR's podcast they announced that Madusa will be doing commentary with Lita and JR (so that is her "unknown" role now) They also confirmed Ellering, Baszler, Martinez and Ayesha Ray are in
Kevin Wilson
Kay Lee Ray confirmed, which is good. If she is a last minute entry, I hope they let her do her thing and don't just job her out in the first round. Of the ones in the tournament I have seen, I'd put her up there with Kairi and Toni as far as being the most entertaining wrestlers in the field.
Dewar
Kay Lee Ray is awesome, and she and Viper need to meet up in a semifinal brawl that is so brutal that whoever wins ends up being a sitting duck in the final match.
