MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA (Here be Spoilers)

I have a shotgun equip, but really I'm just a melee machine in MP right now.

I was playing with my buddy yesterday and he had whatever power it is to suspend people in midair and I can just jump over and punch them endlessly until they're dead.

Like Dan said - just dash in, unleash whatever i have at the moment and get the fuck out of there.  Kill the weaker dudes with melee and save the bombs, shotgun shells and shit for when the real nasty stuff is coming for you.

Is anyone using crafted weapons in story mode? Because my current Melee is a Kett Vakarsh (Plasma Sword) I made myself. It's only level 1 but it does loads of damage. I also made a Black Widow level 2, but I accidentally put a grenade launcher mod on it, and it felt like it really slowed the bullets down... to the point where I skied every shot and they exploded half a mile behind the person I was aiming at. So I sold it. I've got scientists giving me mineral drops (and other scientists giving me research point drops as well) now though, so I might start crafting loads more.

Haven't really bought anything except Nomad skins. The black one doesn't look as good as I thought it would, but the black with gold honeycomb makes it look like a snakeskin nomad.

I made a Mattock because it was my favorite weapon in ME3 MP

Sadly it isn't as good in Andromeda... at least not right now

Mainly because it doesn't have a large clip size

I used crafted weaponry & armor often though I haven't done anything particularly interesting with any of them augmentation wise save for one grenade launcher pistol. Its ok, but I probably should ave save it for a better pistol.

Don't Turbo Boost and 6 Wheel Drive come as standard?

I also made an Angaran Chest piece, to complete the set of Angaran armour I'm wearing. Loads of Tech boosts.

Fighting the Architect on Eos. Got to the third stage of the battle, and the monster enemy is down under 1/3 health. Found myself running out of ammo (again). Ran to pick some ammo up, tried to zip behind some cover before the big zapper got me.

The button for quick dodge is also the button for climb, and I was closer to the blocks than I thought. So my character just leaped on top of the thing I wanted her to hide behind, and got immolated. And the last save point is right before I triggered the boss fight. Fucking hell.

You have no idea how much this makes me sad.  I loved the Mattock.

I still haven't played any MP yet, nor am I likely to until after the 11th and I am on a normal daylight schedule.

I still need to slug through the MP tutorial.  I am so far behind.  Haven't had any real opportunities to binge play for five or six hours at a time without interruption.

Finally took down the kett base on the ice planet. Took almost an hour, thanks torunning around and getting confused about how to get to the hanger bay. Now i can finally get to the base under the energy dome.

also explored some of the plant planet.

this will probably most of my playing until Sunday, apart from logging on to quickly check AVP and strike team missions.

Just finished up Liam loyalty mission a little earlier. If that wasn't so fun I would be a lot more disappointed at the lack of punch Liam in the face option. That was an amazing amount of stupidity bred from his impatience. Still so damn fun.

Bioware posted a messsge that they will be announcing on Tuesday their "immediate plans" for the game - basically what the plans are for the first patch (most likely along with MP events and possible first DLC announcement)

So generally I like the game.  It's a good game, but IMHO not great.  It doesn't really break open the whole genre for me like The Witcher 3 did.  I'm not a fan of the crafting and weapon systems.  I'm just never happy with the weapons I can get or my weapon builds.  The better weapons it seems you can get from R&D, I never seem to have enough resources or materials to craft them.  Earning more credits also seems to be very hard.  At least in The Witcher 3 you could take bounty missions or loot everything in sight to get more money or things you could easily sell for more cash. Or you could go on treasure hunts or just wander the sandbox for the loot caches.

If I have an issue with the plot, the idea of interstellar colonization is very interesting to me.  It seems to be happening a lot in sci-fi media lately.  Besides this game, there's a lot of ideas of interstellar colonization and humanity spending years traveling across space to get to new planets to colonize for a fresh start that we saw in Passengers or even the upcoming Alien: Covenant.

I guess I'm not getting the arrogance of the Initiative where they planned all this interplanetary colonization for Andromeda that would take centuries, and they didn't seem to have plans in place for catastrophic changes over 600 years.  Like they are taking space arks over the course of centuries to uncharted space.  It's uncharted.  So they are just assuming they will find golden planets, but what makes them sure everything is golden 600 years from now?  Or that while they are in cryo-sleep there won't be some insane interstellar phenomenon like the scourge?  I mean, I imagine you can't plan for every sort of catastrophe, but it seems everyone in the initiative was unaware of any of the risks at all for such an undertaking.  When the risks are in fact so obvious.

I will say, my favorite moment so far was:

Telling that Kett church zealot "I'm going to fuck your shit up" before shooting him in the face.  That was pretty badass.

So yeah, I opted not to blow up the church and save the other Angarans.  I don't regret my decision one bit.  The Moshae was a bitch about it, but I was friends with Jaal.  Jaal wanted to save his people.  The other task force members were good with it and helped out.  They did their part and started escorted them out.  "We got this."  And the Moshae seemed to get over her anger very quickly.  Her logic was that the Kett would just fill it up again soon.  Well, as Ryder, I had every intention of allying with the Angarans and their resistance to stop the Archon and the Kett.  So no genocide for me.  It wasn't a hard decision.

Ran into my first "major" glitch and it wasn't that bad

On the icy planet and doing the transmission mission

Spoiler

So I get to the meteorite and the game tells you to dampen the signal so I start doing so and the 2nd wave of the adhi show up but the game doesn't let me break away from the dampening. I finish it while getting attacked and then get stuck in the dialogue all while the adhi are butt-fucking me. So I die mid conversation but still finish the conversation. The game then loads with me still dead yet I go through the conversation choices AGAIN. Then it locks up when trying to reload again.

Not a huge deal since I rebooted the game and it put me right at the start of the fight so I just had to kill the adhi again and everything worked fine

You are making sure to scan shit, right? Resources for the Milky Way are little hard to come by, but Remnant and Heleus resources should be coming in semi-regularly. Salvage should also be getting you a decent bit of credits.

I somewhat understand your problems with the Initiative's arrogance, but realistically the sort of changes the golden worlds went through just don't happen within 600 years. Its takes millennia, if not millions of years for those changes to happen. Something like Scourge could not be predicted. More to the point the most important leaders were either dead or missing. Its not that they weren't prepared. Its more that the survivors who ended up in charge were inept.

Ran into a broken mission on Eos last night, taking down that big shielded Kett base.  I wiped out the Kett and unlocked/shut down everything I needed to.  I just need to get into an observation room to grab my reward.  Unfortunately, the door to the room won't open.  I've watched a walkthrough on Youtube, and I've done everything necessary to open the thing.  From looking online, this seems to be a common occurrence.  Speculation seems to be that there's some hidden Kett somewhere that isn't dead yet (even though I finished the wipe out remaing Kett step) and that's what's causing the door to be inactive.  Really annoying, as the firefight to get to that room was the most frustrating one I've gone through, and I really don't feel like going back to an older save and trying it again.

Right after that, ran into another bugged one in the process of taking down my first

There's a side part of that mission where you talk to some guys who want you to change up how you're proceeding with the mission.  They didn't show up for me.  I completed the mission, then left the planet and came back.  This time they showed up.  I told em I was sorry I couldn't help em out, but that still didn't clear the mission.  Then I talked to em again and agreed to do what I had just apologized for failing to do.  That cleared it.

I know I was going to get a bunch of responses like that

My question was specifically about the Angara who went from gibberish to being able to translate English in like 15 seconds.

I know everyone has universal translators but it seems like a mighty big leap from we have no idea you existed to banging hot Angara history lady

Considering SAM can modify your voice so you speak like a Kett, it is probable that Ryder is speaking Angaran. Now as for the rest of the crew all the other Arks arrived before the Human Ark so it could be that those species languages were assimilated already with the Kett and then when the Angarans killed some Kett and took some tech from them they also got a Milky Way translator.

I scan everything I can find.  I even try to scan enemies in fights, as hard as that is because you can scan enemy soldiers and alien creatures at various points when they come to attack you.

Looking at all the videos that Jien Garson left, she seemed equally inept.  I mean maybe you can't predict the Scourge, but they are traveling through deep uncharted space.  How could they be so sure there's not some hazardous comets or space phenomenon they could run into?  Murphy's Law and all that.

My advice reguarding getting more milky way R going is simple: AVP points. The base science one gives you 100 research points every 45 minutes, with the clock resetting whenever you pick your shit up.

As for money, I'm kinda surprised thats a problem for anyone. Money in this game is very easy to acquire if you are checking for loot. I'm sitting on a 40 thousand credit nest egg if I ever feel the need to spend it.
