Episode 63 - "Where The Big Boys Played"

Hello Scumbags and welcome back to Saturday releases. This week I was hoping to get to SummerSlam but I have yet to watch it. First week of school I ran out of time. This podcast is in a sense a special one, I start the podcast out talking about ALL IN, a show which will be tonight September 1st at 4/7 depending where you live I give my match predictions while barely containing my excitement. After all of that I discuss my favorite wrestling promotion WCW. I talk about Thunder cuz duh but I've also been reading the new book NITRO: The Incredible Rise and Inevitable Collapse of Ted Turner's WCW (https://www.amazon.com/NITRO-Incredible-Inevitable-Collapse-Turners/dp/0692139176) a very good read so far (149 pages in) and is the inspiration for me to go back and watch Nitro from the beginning so that is what I did I end the show discussing the First Nitro that aired 9/4/95. I had to do it. ALL IN happened on Saturday I had to talk about the show immediately. Two days is immediate for this podcast trust me. It’s not Monday like I promised but it’s Wednesday and we have a new podcast and it’s topical as I speak on Sundays Hell in a Cell PPV. The stupid fucking finish of the main pissed me off so much that I had to calm down before I reviewed the match to keep the rant to a minimum but I still ranted. This is why id on’t watch WWE as much as I was the booking is stupid and nonsensical. Other than voicing my frustration over WWE’s contemporary booking style I also discuss This Years Starrcade taking place in Cincinnati and I recap the 9/25/95 Monday Nitro. Three days late but it’s here. In this episode I discuss briefly Raw’s slip in the ratings then I review the 10/23-10/31/95 Nitros. These are a doozy as they are the show before and the Show right after Halloween Havoc. Their is some utterly Bizarre shit that happened over the course of these two episodes Including a 7 foot mummy breaking out of a block of ice and Sabu’s last appearance in WCW. I know last Episode I promised a Live report from ROH’s Death Before Dishonor on 9/28/18 here in Vegas. It’s Saturday and here I am with brand new Podcast. Christmas Miracle.I watched a Vice News piece on HBO last night on Voodoo Wrestling in the Congo. It’s Pro Wrestling infused with pre colonial traditions. It was a cool video so I talk about that a little. I than discuss Monday Nitro 11/6/95 then Alec returns after at least a 6 month hiatus to converse over ROH’s Death Before Dishonor (9/28) PPV. The convo goes deep we talk about ROH’s lack of grassroots marketing and stagnant booking before taking about how much we loved the in ring action on the show. Episode 72 - "This Week in WWE ..."

This is a little different episode this week, my good buddy Jay (@lucidluminaries) returns to the podcast and we tackle RAW (10/22) SmackDown (10/23) and even NXT (10/24). Jay and I tackle such subjects such as Roman Reigns leukemia, where should the WWE go from here, THE Turn!!!!, Becky vs Charolette, AJ vs D-Bry (12 years ago in Milwaukee), how boring Randy Orton really is and Jay updates me on NXT’s current storylines. But before all that I talk about politics this week, We addressed a lot of things throughout the podcast that I would normally discuss at the beginning so I spoke on some of the absolutely stupid shit that is going on in the United States right now. Episode 73 - "Hey Ladies!"

A day early this week! I’m busy tomorrow so I had to get this out today. The “today” in question is November 2nd, 2018 the same day as WWE’s Crown Jewel event took place in Saudi Arabia I have yet to watch. But Brock Lesnar beat Braun Strowman for the vacant Universal Championship in 2 1/2 minutes. So I hoot and holler about that for a good 15 minutes. I then of course review an episode of Monday Nitro (11/4/95). I then discuss the all women PPV WWE Evolution (10/28) which was a very fun show with some really good wrestling top to bottom so the show does end on a high note. A day late to make up for last week being a day early. This week I talk about Braun Strowman a little bit and ponder if there’s any real reason for him not being Champion other than that the Powers That Be don’t want him to be Champion. I also give an update on Jeff Jarretts lawsuit against TNA. The country he built! I also reviewed Nitro (12/11/95). This Nitro came from Flair Country (Charlotte, NC) features Paul Orndorffs grand exit from the wrestling business. Lets just say Mr Wonderful goes out with a bang. This week Is tart about a potential promotion with a money backer and maybe fearing Cody and the Young Bucks (All Elite Wrestling brother!). Then discuss Survivor Series. The main event this week is WWE Starrcade Special 2018. Or so they titled the hour long broadcast of the WWE Live Event from 11/24. Starrcade dates back to 83 and it’s a wrestling tradition a thanksgiving tradition for many years. It’s a Crockett/WCW staple of course I covered it.
