MARCH 2017 TV THREAD

You know, Rihanna as Marion Crane on Bates Motel seems like one of those ideas that is just so batshit it could actually work.

I like the deliberate nod to the stunt casting of the original film.

But hopefully she's learned to act since Battleship.

I don't even know what that show is, but I'm going to go ahead and say for the record, I don't give a fuck if Rihanna can act or not, Rihanna's presence on my television is always a positive.

We haven't had a chance to catch this week's episode yet, but that's how I feel after almost every damn episode. That and like a completely shit father compared to Jack Pearson.

I have stepped up quite a bit in response to a pretty bad turn of events in my life and I am still a shit father compared to Jack Pearson.

Yep, last night's episode of The Expanse and the previous week's are the first chapters of Caliban's War.

I'm not sure what I marked for more:  more Bobbie Draper sightings or Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo aka Tali's Aunt aka Laskshmi-2 of the Future War Cult) finally using a curse word since she has the mouth of a sailor in the novels.

Why does anyone watch this misery porn?  I usually leave my tv on in the background and it's usually on NBC, so I've seen bits and pieces of this show.  It seems like manipulative glurge.  I guess it's a cool new thing to humblebrag about being an emotional dude with things like, "oh man it got dusty in here" and shit but still, I don't get it.

Not a personal attack on you, Brian.  Just wondering aloud.

I don't think it's all that bad. Up until now, all of the worst stuff has been either telegraphed or ultimately inconsequential (granted, I'm an episode behind). The big thing about it, success-wise, is that it's relatable by so many people due to the way they cross-cut generations. I do think that they're doomed for season 2 because a show like this tends to have the first season arc pretty carefully mapped out and then becomes a victim of its own success. There are just too many moving parts and they're burning through too much of it too soon.

So edgy.

Lethal Weapon is still my favorite TV show that's currently airing, and goddamn that last scene of the most recent episode. Gutpunch.

I'm thinking about watching this.

The trailer didn't thrill me. But people are saying nice things about it.

Buffy-Vampire-Slayer-Coloring-Book.jpg20 years ago Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered

"Into every generation a slayer is born: one girl in all the world, a chosen one. She alone will wield the strength and skill to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their number. She is the Slayer."

So at lunch a little bit ago, someone asked me if I prefer Elementary or Sherlock.  I'm generally not too passionate about TV shows (they're, y'know, television shows), but next thing I knew, it was 1:00 and lunch was over and I'd been on my soapbox ranting about both shows.  Lol.  And my co-worker was looking at me like I was a nut,  Uh, it's a sore topic with me.  I don't love the good seasons of Sherlock nearly as much as most people and generally think both shows are big underachievers.

I am old and had to drag my ass into work first thing this morning on the day when Daylight Saving Time kicked in.

Did someone with a better biological clock stay up to watch Samurai Jack last night?

People like This Is Us, legitimately, and you sum it all up because you have this weird idea that you think guys watch it so they can "humblebrag about being an emotional dude". Seriously, what's wrong with you?

Been watching The Detour. I watched an episode the other night(The Tub) might be the funniest and most disturbing thing I've seen in a while.

Started watching Boardwalk Empire from the beginning and currently at the tail end of season three. Very good show.
