I just ran through the whole thread. It's 4 years later and there are so many movies I've seen since that would be on my list now, deposing others. My #1 would be unchanged however. The top 10 would be drastically different

I looked at this thread last week and my list would also be different. I have access now to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Four years is a long time. Been meaning to ask @RIPPA what the next film project will be. Fancy doing a redo of this like we had Best Films of the 1990s Version 1 and Version 2.

I've taken part in: Greatest Movie Of All Time, The 2000s, The 1990s V2, The Best Films of 2015, Best Films 2010-2014 and The Best Films of 2013. I most enjoyed this one and the 2000s. The latter was my first here.

I'm going to have a stab at doing a draft ballot for fun. Four years is a long time. Films out since this ended and my opinion changing on some movies I originally voted for.

I don't see my top 2 or 3 ever changing but if I try to redo mine without referring to the previous one it might be wildly different. We should do a Top 500!!

Looking at my draft ballot, it's interesting four years on where my tastes have changed or remained the same with new films released since March 2017. I looked at my old ballot and oof at some of my choices, rankings and omissions. Touch wood we'll get a V2 ran by @RIPPA made up of people who took part first time with those who didn't. As he said:

I just want to repeat myself here - for those who think they aren't "qualified" to submit a ballot. You haven't seen the ballots I have gotten so far.

Y'all have seen at least 100 movies you think are very good or beyond. Send me a list.

The more I get - the better this project is

I did mock Top Ten... that morphed into a top 25 and hour later I had 75 movies. My top 10 is way different (save for my #1). If we were given even 2 months to get a list together I'm sure that first 75 would be different

Please can we run this back, @RIPPA? I need to make good on my fuckups. We've also four and a half more years of movies that can be selected as well. Thanks.

Not to be all snooty math guy, but I'm unclear how that would work.

Looking back on my old ballot there's aspects I'm happy with, parts I'm not, some glaring omissions and that's before considering five more years of new eligible films. Pretty please let's run this back!

Jeanne Dielman! Turin Horse! Close-UP! Taste of Cherry! Satantango! Wait, I see 'Country Priest' and 'Au Hasard Balthazar' but not 'A Man Escaped'?

Shamefully, I still haven’t watched it. I have the blu and more than enough means to, but I am a fraud. ? When this project bounces back up I’ll get it in and many others before then.

Nothing to be ashamed of. What you have is an incredible movie to look forward to for whenever ya damn well please! If you haven't seen 'Mouchette' I can easily recommend that one as well. Great list! I find 'la chinoise' an interesting choice. I love Jean-Luc, but that one did not connect with me. That said, I flip-flop on his movies all the time.

La Chinoise is interesting because it fits within his seven year run of 60’s bangers  yet it doesn’t have the same youthful haziness of the previous ones. Right before going full on wild with Weekend (another favorite) he stays young but goes more militant. Beginning to shy away from the daring cinephile he is at heart to the radical Political theorists to come in another year. Whether intended or not (you can never fully tell with Godard, but he is often self deprecating beneath the ego) he really parodies himself. Both treating the ideology both seriously and dangerous. I was on the edge of my seat for the train at discussion and how radical the kids become.

I just love how Godard regularly challenges Form. It’s tough to place him of lists because all the self imposed qualifications for what is great he manages to create outside that and still manages to feel excellent as an enjoyable piece of art. Always either ahead of what people are doing (use of jump cuts, erratic text, cuts in sound editing, treating the film as a film instead of a story to be lost in, and most recently changing concepts of visual understandings on how to interpret 3-D) and then a decade or two later we see what he did but done in a more fluidly new-uniform modern way.

Im pumped to watch more Bresson. I try to heavily space out filmmakers when I can. I made the mistake of going through filmographies when I was a young hungry movie nerd. I wish I left more on the table.

Did/ do you have a list, @HarryArchieGus
