Ace
She's now gotten through all the surgeries she's going to have for the moment, having had the third for the shattered jaw. She'll have another one in 6 months, otherwise it's recovery and rehab for a while.
OSJ
James, thanks for the offer bro, really appreciate it. Ditos to the rest of y'all that offered ears to bend or shoulders to cry upon or what have you. It's starting to look like it was only Alex who was so fucked up that he didn't know what was really going on, and opted for a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Case in point: https://photos.app.goo.gl/lhu1lUVFTuXYBsdJ2 Say "Hi" to Ricochet if you somehow run into him. Somewhat plausible in a town that size if he's visiting from wherever he lives these days. There's a strong facial resemblance and we have the same last name. So I'm ready for that question. A lot.

JLSigman
Hey, sorry, need to vent, feel free to ignore, etc. Mom's been sick since the end of August when she got food poisoning. It's been up and down, but the last two weeks have been steadily downhill. She would barely eat because it hurt her stomach, and anything more than dry toast caused some bad reactions out the other end. This morning.... this morning, she looks at me, dead eyes, and says, "I'm done." I'm in the process of calling her doctor, seeing if I can get her admitted for a few days to rest her gut and get her properly diagnosed. I feel like a failure as a caretaker, but Jesus wept every time before now I tried to convince her to call her doctor she'd get angry about it and I have long-standing PTSD with her anger issues. So, if you can spare a thought, I'd appreciate it. It sucks to be us at the moment. 1
Ryan
If you can get past her anger triggers, she really needs to be admitted for her own damn good. Her opinion be damned.
JLSigman
Got her to an Urgent Care, she was so dehydrated they couldn't start an IV. They want stool samples, she's got Zofram and Levisin to help with some things. I talked to the Nurse Practitioner and she was very sympathetic, and gave me a list of GastroEnterologists nearby. Main thing is to try to get her hydrated again. Oh, and the discharge papers did say if she got worse to go to an ER, so I can shove that around if necessary. Thanks for reading. I keep a lot to myself, because there are family members I haven't seen in years who would twist things to their advantage. Take care :-)

BrianS81177
Ugh. Got surprised on sunday with sudden severe stomach and back pain. Have been to 3 different doctors (ER, walk in clinic, family practitioner). Been on a clear liquid diet since Monday. Not really improving. Last dr thinks its a peptic ulcer, or something wrong with my gall bladder. I haven't eaten anything solid since Sunday, I'm constantly hungry and my back hurts all the time. Best part? This is my vacation from work.
JLSigman
Mom fell in the bathroom this morning. Just banged her knees, thank all the gods, but she could not stand back up, said her legs were too weak. I tried to help lift her enough so she could sit on her walker, but I simply cannot lift 170ish pounds. She ended up crawling back into her room (not far, but still....) and between the railing, a towel around it to pull her arms and torso, and me pushing/lifting each leg one at a time, we got her back into bed. I'll spot her this one tumble, since it didn't involve needing an ambulance, but I'm probably just being stupid and in denial. I just wasn't expecting things to progress to this point so soon. She's 72, I'm 42.
OSJ
I haven't said anything about this because basically I've been too freaked out by it... Make a long story short, a year ago X-rays showed a mass between Kathy's larynx and thyroid gland. It was pretty small and everything else looked fine so they said don't worry, we'll look at it again next year and see if there's any change... Fast forward a year and now it's "We need to get you in right away, the mass has more than doubled in size, we can do surgery next week." Next week was this morning. The docs kept dodging saying the "C Word", but kept saying things like "concerned about the rapid growth" , and so on. Anyway, I've been up all night, something that has become pretty routine over the last week or so, and her sisters came in at 5AM to take her to the hospital. I got the phone call about half an hour ago... At 9:38 AM surgeons finished the removal of a large BENIGN cyst. I'm fucking crying, I'm so happy right now. No follow-up needed, won't even be able to see the scar. No lasting effects, she'll sound like Janis Joplin for a couple of months, but I think that's kinda sexy, so no worries there.

NikoBaltimore
Really glad everything's fine, Jon. I can't even imagine what that must have felt like but it's great they were able to remove it.

Brian Fowler
Both my stepdad and step sister had they're thyroids removed due to cancer. Her at just 18 years old. I'm so happy for you and her that it wasn't that John. ------------ I got a snail mail British variation on a Nigerian Prince email scam today. I apparently won a British lotto but have to pay a fee to have the $130,000 (not pounds!) released internationally. I only mention it because, again, SNAIL MAIL. Someone spent actual postage on sending this from England. 1
Ramsey
My name officially went up in on the marquee for my first casino (new state) stand up comedy gig. Also, my wife ran for and won a city council seat. Life is pretty solid. 7

Get one of those permanent casino gigs that Patton Oswalt did a bit about a few years back where you literally do nothing for tons of drunks and they just throw money at you. Next stop, corporate gigs!
