Opener going broadway implies that the car with Valentine, Mulligan and Race was late. I imagine during the third match or so a road-worn caddy opening up in the parking lot, many beer cans spilling out and all three trucking into the lockerroom, reeking of cigs and vainly attempting to look contrite for the promoter.

p.s. Long Live Dr. Fujinami!

Wasn't Race only late for like one match ever, where Funk and I think Bock had to go broadway, then Race went another hour with one of them? Not that your story isn't good but it reminded me of that...

Or you could say it was a let's not push more than one hispanic person schism. Or any depending on the time period. El Dandy deserved a title run dammit.

I think WCW did pretty good in that regard. Juvi, Rey, Eddy and Konnan always got strong pushes.

How do we figure the IWGP reign of Psicosis, with the beer bottle shot from Juvy; then, being stripped of it by NJPW and Psicosis suddenly having it and losing it to whomever. Oh right, Juvy got hurt in the match, they just put it on Psic and Liger won it back the next week. I wonder if that counts as having held it...

Also possible that it was a short time limit for the opener - 10 or 15 minutes.  That wasn't uncommon back in the day.

Was Dr. Fujinami Tatsumi?

Yep.

Was this around the time, on an episode of Thunder, that Chono and Tenzan (?) lost the tags straps to Davey and Anvil (?), per the NJPW tag title rules, because they won via DQ?

Given the implication and the workers involved, I am shocked that Rippa did not hand out mass bannings for that shit.. :)

Tequila, beer, who gives a fuck, it just makes it more racist and Russo-ish. I don't recall the ChoTen tag title loss.

The deal, as PetrolCB noted, was that Chono and Tenzan were IWGP tag champs and defended the belts on Thunder against Bulldog/Anvil.  Faces won by DQ, which nobody blinked at and moved on about, but in Japan, losing by disqualification results in a title change, so technically, there you go.  New Japan ended up just ignoring it and moving on with their day.  It just ended up being another example of WCW not paying attention.

There was no IWGP Reign for Psicosis.  Juvy is recognized, but Psicosis was a "defend the belt for Juvy" because at that point, NJPW wanted the fuck out of the deal, and just wanted the belt back on Liger and the fuck out of dodge..

To be fair, they really didn't do much in '87. '88 is when they really started picking up some steam.

This is true, but they rated them way too low in teamwork and offense. They put them under the Bees, Islanders and Rougeaus, who they had been handily beating most of the year.

Here is what they wrote on the Demolition listing.

Its funny how the magazines praise the Warriors for the things they dogged Hulk Hogan for.

How the hell were the New Dream Team above them too?

I assume they had a hard on for Valentine. Because the New Dream Team was not good.

I mean from a Kayfabe point of view. Most of 1987 was spent by them losing to the Rougeaus, Bees and even the Harts a few times. Otherwise they were feuding with Brutus Beefcake in singles matches.

I think the magazines had a hard on about Demolition because they perceived them as an attack on the Road Warriors. The Apter mags loved them some Road Warriors. Also since Vince cut them off, they probably did not want any new WWF teams becoming over.

I know when they won the tag belts, it took a very long time for Demolition to get the number one spot in the tag rankings. It was around the time they started souring on the Road Warriors.

Watts didn't book Doom's title run.  I believe they had a booking committee at the time.

I was being quasi-facetious and paying tribute to Bill Watts's courage when it came to not being afraid to put world titles on black dudes.
