Cobra Commander Posted April 25 Posted April 25 (edited) 4/25/81 WWF Championship Wrestling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UadSRuD_qIg Squash wins for Pedro Morales, Tony Atlas, Angelo King Kong Mosca, Mosca fights off a bunch of babyfaces postmatch, Dominic DeNucci and Larry Sharpe in a battle of wrestling trainers, Mil Mascaras beats pre-King Kong Bundy Chris Canyon, George Steele wins a squash, a tag team match of Garea/Martel vs Baron Mikel Scicluna/Johnny Rodz, and a Don Muraco squash Not sure I ever used someone pronounce Quebec as "Kwee-beck" before I heard Jooooooe McHugh did it also, KKB with hair looking like Paul Wight should have worked as the secret son of King Kong Bundy Don Muraco with a one-armed Tombstone and a top rope splash across the ring which is trippy if you've only seen him when he was larger and slower Edited April 25 by Cobra Commander 4

It's really weird seeing Bundy like that. 1

It's really weird seeing Bundy like that. i've seen clips of that, at the very least... I think Bundy with a bowl cut vs Fritz is like if one of the Von Erichs was obese and Fritz decided to fight them because the fat camp didn't help 4
Cobra Commander Posted April 27 Posted April 27 World Class (4/27/1985): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLBYehHvBLw One Man Gang insists that we should call Gary Hart slick before he squashes the masked Mr. Ebony. Sunshine holds a press conference from a local city council dais to introduce The Great Kabuki to help her and Hercules against the heels. Hercules Hernandez battles Gino Hernandez! World Class is going to Israel in August. Gino with an epic 10+ second long sell of an atomic drop. "He calls himself the happy halfbreed from Highland Park (pause) handsome too". The babyface tandem of Hercules and Kabuki. What a team. The Midnight Express in action against Adias and Casey. The leapfrog sunset flip from Adias looked neat. Bronko's counting method is always something. MX wins after Cornette breaks up the dreaded sleephold. "Last night Kevin Von Erich tried to take my eye out" (girls start cheering loudly). That's a gnarly cut on Chris Adams. Hey Cornette managed to actually get into a segment with the Von Erichs as the main event turns from Chris Adams vs Kerry to Dennis Condrey vs Kerry. Three consecutive Kerry dropkicks is neat. Somebody's winning a car at the Texas Stadium show (which i'm pretty sure gets smashed by the One Man Gang's chain). Kerry wins with a backslide, then Chris and Gino run out to attack Kevin and Kerry. Superb track suit on Gino. 3
Cobra Commander Posted April 28 Posted April 28 on checking the Parade of Champions results, the upcoming card is also the card where Gary Hart had to be bald for life.. but yeah, the last days of Gary Hart's hair.. 1

Sunshine bringing in heel mercenary types like Hercules & Kabuki, to take on dastardly heels like Gino & Adams was a great angle that I'm surprised wasn't copied more.
Cobra Commander Posted April 28 Posted April 28 (edited) Cornette vs the Von Erichs probably would have been a fun feud in 1985, but Jim really wasn't going to wait in line long enough for that to happen since Jim wanted to go directly from Watts to Crockett and he was only in World Class because he was given to them also I can't see Fritz doing the 1984 Bill Watts promos on Cornette better than Watts did Edited April 28 by Cobra Commander
Cobra Commander Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Just now, Mister TV said: Sunshine bringing in heel mercenary types like Hercules & Kabuki, to take on dastardly heels like Gino & Adams was a great angle that I'm surprised wasn't copied more. it's probably more about the styles and such but Herc as a babyface in that match I saw was a lot more fun than the WWF babyface Hercules that was more of a "dude loaded up on all the steroids working dudes also bloated on roids"... I think Gino and Herc were the same height, which might be relevant to people who think Gino wouldn't have been large enough for the WWF. If Gino had went there, he's probably "heel Rick Martel with mic skills" more than "the new Roddy Piper" but it could have worked if not for Gino dying because he was a massive cokehead
Log Posted April 29 Posted April 29 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE8Obx3V6v8&t=1866s Eddie and Phil talk about this match on their Way of the Blade episode. It's every bit as grimy, violent, and uncomfortable as they describe. Great stuff! 2

Zimbra Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Sting vs Tony Palmore No link because the only place I could find the full watch was on a whole-ass porn site (thank you very much New Japan). This was Observer's worst match of '95 and I actually kinda liked it. This is from Inoki's retirement tour and Palmore is a past-his-prime kickboxer gone to fat while Sting is a guy with no amateur experience and no idea what to do in a worked-shoot match, but is very game to try. Palmore throws some nice 3/4 speed shots at Sting, including a great cheap shot punch to the head when Sting was on his hands and knees that got the crowd real pissed off. Sting's offense is mostly limited to a nice hip throw and a german suplex that Palmore sandbags him on. Sting clearly tells Palmore to take it easy at on him one point because he starts throwing very dainty punches, which is a disappointment. It's not, like, good but it's only four minutes and it is fun. 1

Cobra Commander Posted May 6 Posted May 6 (edited) 4/1/1996 Monday Nitro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMMOJ-WcGbk in which Johnny Grunge impersonates Brian Knobbs to cost the Nasty Boys a match feels like you could do a finish like that where Wrestler A loses a match by DQ because Wrestler C is imitating them and cheats in front of the ref... like if you did the Sting/Sid match where Barry Windham is fake Sting with a logical reason to get Sting DQed Edited May 6 by Cobra Commander 1
AxB Posted May 6 Posted May 6 The way Love Machine got Eddy Guerrero to turn heel on his partner El Santo was, he unmasked Santo mid-match, put the mask on, and started attacking Eddy while pointing at his own (masked) face.
