Zimbra Posted November 1 Posted November 1 George Hackenschmidt vs Joe Rogers from 1908: https://www.ngataonga.org.nz/search-use-collection/search/F18094/ The most 'not from now' wrestling you can see. 6
odessasteps Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Brian Solomon posted this in relation to his interview with Kurt Von Hess’ daughter this week. No sound, I think. 1

assfax Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Some of my favorite bits from the aught-eight footage: Guy loses his shoe almost immediately. Spectator takes of huge overcoat and still has another huge overcoat on underneath. I'm swearing guys were trying to break fingers a couple times. Was not expecting Criterion restoration quality! Looks amazing. I put some Art Tatum on while I watched.

Curt McGirt Posted November 7 Posted November 7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUJsNB7T43s&ab_channel=thaPHENOMINAL1 Talking about Scott Steiner in the AEW thread reminded me of the "SHUT UP NED" promo and I found this. Pure gold. "COMING FROM THE GREAT STATE OF OBESITY"
Zimbra Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Did you know that Joel Deaton wrestled Kazunari fucking Murakami at a fairgrounds in Georgia in 99? Because he did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJpDGByaUSY&t=1607s 2
Cobra Commander Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I tuned into the Shotgun Saturday Night stream just in time to see Triple H get tombstoned down an escalator. Boy was that Bloomberg news screen behind the ring distracting during an endless Aldo Montoya/Aldo and the Godwinns match.
Curt McGirt Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Didn't Russo do commentary on Shotgun initially? That would be way worse than a news crawl. I really need to see someone get tombstoned down an escalator. At first I thought you meant "elevator shaft"
Cobra Commander Posted November 10 Posted November 10 well, the tombstone was at the top of an escalator and then HHH just went down the escalator https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QDAmKNnphM Sunny and Vince McMahon were commentating Shotgun this week and Sunny as a color commentator was... yeah
Cobra Commander Posted November 12 Posted November 12 amazing how loud these 93000 Nunziomaniacs were on this night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM3_jyzBCSA 1
Happ Hazzard Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) https://x.com/BillMoldestad/status/1856577638439301562 Doink the Clown vs "Bret Hart" in a rounds match from Germany in the mid 90s. It's actually Franz Schumann, not Bret, but he was doing a very good "tribute act" to Bret at the time. Edited November 14 by Happ Hazzard 1
Cobra Commander Posted November 14 Posted November 14 WCW Main Event (11/14/1993): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzYUD4hryDw Ringside interviews with Tony Schiavone after each squash! Larry Z handles postmatch replays so they can act like Tony and Larry aren't commentating from a studio. Todd Champion is back and he wants to bring the Television title back to the USA where it belongs. Battlebowl is coming up! 1990s Toy Commercials! The Best of Randy Travis! Larry Z still likes Steven Regal at this time. They should bring back the ringside postmatch interviews, at least on B Shows. Erik Watts is on the job crew! Tony dropping a Sally Jessy Raphael reference to Missy when we all know Missy is actively ripping off Madonna's look. Knobbs helping Sags avoid Erik Watts' STF. Erik Watts is as graceful as a baby deer. Perry Mason Sundays on TBS! The PGA Grand Slam of Golf! Game Genie! Steve Austin is without Col Parker because of reasons totally not related to win this match was taped. Tony Schiavone namedropping Rush Limbaugh for some reason. Larry Z saying he has problems not calling Charlie Norris "Chuck Norris". Tony asking if he's allowed to use the phrase "Tomahawk Chop". Steve Austin mocking an Indian war dance. Let's close out with wrestlers telling us what Battlebowl is

Cobra Commander Posted November 16 Posted November 16 (edited) WWE Vault posted SuperTape on YouTube. The first matchup with Tony Schiavone commentating a Rugged Ronnie Garvin/Mr. Perfect match from Nashville is a very strong reflection of how the WWF decided to be "JCP Northeast" for part of 1989 edit: hey, we get an extended look at the Bushwhackers... that's technically ex-JCP because they bailed on their former promotion to jump to the WWF edit 2: multiple Rod Trongard matches on this tape, boy did he have an announcer voice at the very least (was he actually good or just a guy with a memorable voice?) Edited November 16 by Cobra Commander 2
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I pulled it up without reading what was on the tape and initially wondered who were the Sickos requesting "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin vs. The Genius. The Mister Perfect match was good but I do kinda wonder about Poffo/Garvin.

TERRIBLE announcer. The duo of him and Superstar Billy Graham was one of the worst of all time. 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I just watched the Paul Boesch Retirement Show and Pete Dougherty is one of the worst I've heard. I'd almost rather have heard John House from CZW or Larry Rivera from XPW.
