I'm an Isles fan too @sabremike, but when I went to CSB Don was one of my instructors, he was a pretty cool guy & I like him on the Michael Kay Show. I hate Rosenberg and his shitty forced catch phrases.
sabremike
Sabres beating the Stars 2-1 after 1 despite being outshot 17-5. Yeah I don't think that's sustainable.
elizium
The Jets are bad at a lot of things, beating the Blackhawks is not one of them.
Jiji
The Canucks and Kings are tied in games played and points. Small consolation for being on the treadmill to mediocrity, but I'll take it. Just looking at the standings, it's pretty laughable how bad the Avs and Coyotes are relative to the rest of the pack. It's like, everybody's in this vortex of shit/mediocrity and then Arizona is in purgatory and Colorado is in a lake of fire.
Charlie M.
I've kinda decided I want them to make the playoffs now so I can attend the final 2 playoff games in Vancouver for the next 5 years or so.
Death From Above
It's almost like when the Avs gave Ryan O'Reilly away for nothing, didn't address having a terrible D corps, and stuck with a questionable goaltending lineup, it was a bad series of ideas. Tabe
Brad Marchand gets just a $10k fine for his ridiculously dirty and dangerous slew foot on Niklas Kronwall the other night. The NHL called it a "dangerous trip" despite it meeting the definition of a slew foot (which does NOT require shoving a guy with your arm as many have reported). So, despite the fact he's been repeatedly suspended, including for slew footing, in the past, he gets just a fine this time. NHL discipline remains a joke. Even worse? The soft-as-silk Red Wings didn't make Marchand answer the bell for his actions. Good grief. No wonder they're in last place.
Dolfan in NYC
The Barclays Center has told the Islanders to scram. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-01-30/brooklyn-s-barclays-center-said-to-be-dumping-the-islanders How does the Insulaires du Quebec sound? sabremike
They will leave the area over Bettman's dead body. My guess (hope?) is that the Belmont or Citi Field arena plans are all but done and this is Barclays getting out in front of everything.
Death From Above
If Bettman won't let them move the corpses in Arizona or Carolina or Miami there's no chance the Islanders move first even if they have to play on 5th avenue outdoors.
sabremike
Between an insane owner (who was amazingly an improvement over the previous owners), vile politicians in Nassau County, incompetent management and the awful Barclays people there is no franchise in American sports over the past 20 or so years whose fanbase has been more horribly abused and consistently mistreated. They really deserve better.
Dolfan in NYC
Well, to be fair, they did get offered - twice - to have a new arena built, at zero expense to them, and Nassau Co. voters voted it down. I'm not dumb enough to think that "zero expense" didn't have a trillion strings attached, but the fans have rejected the team's continued presence in the area. And now, the team is essentially homeless.

Led by slimeball Kate Murray they frightened the heavily taxed residents that they would be soaked for the plan. In reality the reason they opposed the Lighthouse is that the plan included housing and they worried it would be filled by people from heavily Democratic NYC. So basically they did it out of naked self interest, wellbeing of the county be damned.

sabremike
Any coach who would play Steve Ott significant minutes in the playoffs while nailing Tarasenko's ass to the bench has no business being in the NHL in 2017.

Death From Above
It took literally 90 seconds on twitter, all the usual old hockey media people that think if you have had a winning season as a NHL coach you should have a job in perpetuity until you die.
