Bound for Glory is headed to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Impact Wrestling announced today that the Aberdeen Pavilion would be hosting the pay-per-view on November 5th, with television tapings also set for the venue on November 6-10.

When the word got out that the tapings were being moved to Canada, a number of people in wrestling inquired about the status of Jim Cornette, who has been all over the recent television shows as the head of authority for the promotion.

Cornette hasn't been to Canada for years because he was turned away at the border in 2010 when they ran his record, which included a number of assaults, mostly stemming from incidents involving fights with fans who attacked him while he was a manager at matches in the 80s. He had been going to Canada for years, including his WWF run, with no incident, prior to 2010. When he worked for ROH, he never attended the shows in Toronto.

Because of that, Cornette won't be at the next set of tapings and is done with the promotion, which he said there is no heat over and it's just a matter of circumstances.

Cornette is expected to go into more detail on this on his podcast on Thursday.

GFW officials confirmed his being done yesterday as did Cornette today. Cornette noted that he came to GFW after being called in August by Jeff Jarrett, and the agreement was just to work one set of television tapings to facilitate a few storylines, which were the stripping of the championship from Alberto El Patron and the gauntlet match, the on-screen firing of Bruce Prichard so he could return as a heel manager, and to try and make Anthem Sports & Entertainment babyfaces to the wrestling fans.

After the tapings, he and Jarrett agreed that he would come back for Bound for Glory and for a few days at the next tapings in November. Cornette didn't know his status with Jarrett now out of the company and the company's creative, headed by Scott D'Amore and Sonjay Dutt, said to be more focused on in-ring action and less on authority figure angles.

Cornette hadn't heard from anyone in the company other than Bob Ryder, who told him not to believe what he read on the Internet, and spoke to Dutch Mantell, where he explained with the tapings being done in Canada that he wouldn't be able to appear.

Cornette agreed to come to Nashville and do whatever would be needed on camera to do a storyline exit. Right now there is nothing on the table for it.

In several media releases issued today, Anthem Media is once again referring to their wrestling company as Impact Wrestling, not Global Force Wrestling.

PWInsider.com has requested comment on the change, but thus far, has not received a response.

As previously noted on PWInsider.com when Jeff Jarrett took his leave of absence, the announced "merger" between the two sides had not actually been completed.  It would appear with today's announcements that the GFW name will fade away and remain, potentially, a separate entity should Jeff Jarrett opt to run GFW events on his own.

Anthem had been in the middle of running One Night Only PPVs utilizing the GFW Amped! TV footage that had been filmed but not utilized prior to Jeff Jarrett's return to Impact.   Whether they continue on that path or drop those shows (which had two remaining PPVs to air) remains to be seen.

  • Dolfan in NYC changed the title to 2017 WHATEVER THE HELL USED TO BE TNA DISCUSSION THREAD

Dutch is the only authority figure they should keep around and use sparingly.  Of the handful they've had this year, he's the only one that can fake having any credibility cause he's old and grizzled and even though he's broke down physically, if shit really hits the fan he can ride out on his scooter and unleash Shoo Baby.

The Jarrett side tried explaining the GFW branding as GFW being the NWA and Impact being Championship Wrestling From Florida.  Which doesn't make any sense cause it was announced as a merger and all the Impact stuff got replaced with GFW stuff.  Hideous neon green GFW stuff.  Also, none of these companies they're working with are going to recognize the GFW championships as being the top championships in the world.  Eli Drake's going to Noah to be in something like the 3rd match on the card instead of defending against the GHC Champion.

Speaking of championships, Josh Mathews constant refusal to say 'belt' when referring to the championship belts  makes me angrier than anything he did as a heel.  Goddammit, pal, Vince McMahon can't yell at you anymore.  It's a belt.  Trevor Lee stole the belt from Sonjay Dutt not the title or the championship.  Championships are achievements not physical objects.  "Champion" is the title.  The championship belt is merely the physical representation of the championship.  A trophy if you will.  Mongo McMichael doesn't walk into the bar and flash his Super Bowl ring and say, "Look at my title, baby!"

The building they booked has a capacity of 2800

So at least they have reasonable expectations

Yeah a 10000 seat arena is about 9500 too many.  They couldn't even get this right.  Guess they couldn't find something suitable in Toronto.  Mattamy Centre is okay.  I think NXT just ran there

That is a pretty central location, relatively accessible by public transit as well as by car (but Bank St. is notoriously bad for traffic, being the main street in the city and stuck at two lanes in that area because of zoning.) It's too bad they tore down the Cattle Castle on the same property, because I feel like Impact Wrestling would have been better suited to going on in the same venue where they show the cows off during the fair.

They've gentrified the area, and I feel like Impact running there now makes a lot less sense than it would have back in the day when you could see lumberjack competitions over the summer.
