I'm sure this is good money for many of these guys, but a one year contract with a giant corporation trying to make you a tv star shouldn't be slightly more than poverty wages levels. I mean, porn pays better for a year contracted talent.

Let's be honest/realistic, they don't actually have any grandiose plans for these guys.

There's also pretty much no plans announced for any more WWE UK content post the tournament, or that they're going to make the WWE UK Champion come to the US for TV defenses and the belt isn't going to end up like the Light Heavyweight title originally did and just float somewhere else until someone remembers they have it.

The booking problem with the WWE is just that: a booking problem. It's not about booking (merely) what the fans want or even getting them to do/like what/who management wants, it's about booking in an interesting surprising satisfying long-term logical manner. All the interWeb exposing of the biz - who is signed, who is suspended, who sells merch - can be easily woven into the storylines. This is what every armchair IWC pinhead has harped on, but it comes down to this: GET A GOOD BOOKER. A small booking committee with authority and autonomy would suffice. Put PPatterson on it, please, and Heyman. DBryan  would quickly get up to speed alongside those two. Screw these "writers". You can teach the crowd the beauty of long term booking just like you get over the idea of top guys tapping to submissions.

hurm,

RAF

Math. 8.25×40×52= 17,160 plus benefits. And google says they make 9+ an hour, not 8.25.

How is that huge money, especially if a retail job pays better and offers more benefits? Yeah it's more than a hot dog and a coke to wrestle, but 17k is shit pay and it's rather insulting compared to what they would get being on any SAG show.

Can I see your 9+ source?

$20k for 2 days work with possibly more down the line, with only a couple promotions one can't work with.  I'm failing to find an issue with this.  You're acting like they can only work for WWE during that year.

Fine. I disagree. If you're going to restrict my ability to make money in any way, you better pay enough that it won't be a problem. Slightly more than poverty doesn't cover that to me.

They are getting paid 20 grand for two days of work. I'm going out on the world's shortest limb and assuming that no matter how many shows they work for WCPW and WOS, they would not come close to making that 20 grand back.

20 grand...they only get 20 grand....what the fuck man. You can make better money and get multiple benefits, days off, even free education, getting a job at Starbucks.

Yeah but you have to work at Starbucks for 40 hours a week. They'll have a lot more days off with WWE. For the limited dates these guys are doing with WWE, 20 grand is good money. It means they can wrestle full-time.

£16000 is still going to be a huge amount of money to these guys. As Regal pointed out, they can all up their money now they're under the WWE banner. For some this is a bigger jump than others, but they're all happy about not having to worry about the tuna bill. Bet that.

I doubt you'd make £16000 working as a Barista at Starbucks unless you did a ton of overtime, and I don't think they get the same kind of education access here fwiw.

They'd make decent coin working as a Batista at Starbucks though.

That is only two nights work though?

How much can you make if you work Batista at Starbucks?  (Sorta like that Homicide-CM Punk FIP match in a strip club),

$9.22 an hour, but Schiavone will be right there to call your match! You know you'd want that.

So for a Batista match you would get about $1.23.

Well of course you get a 1 a 2 and a 3, assuming Crockett isn't there to tell of time constraints. Batista isn't a submission specialist. Strike, strike, powerbomb, go home.

Isn't this point kind of moot since - and I'm just throwing this out as wild speculation - the talent that signed the contracts for this tournament and show on the Network presumably looked it over and were told how much they were making? Then, they being adults, make an adult decision and signed with WWE for "pennies"? Yeah, it's a low amount, but ultimately, they knew what they were getting themselves into and they signed on knowing the stipulations of their contract and their salary.

It's not like WWE held them at gunpoint and told them to sign this piece of paper, or else.

They're going to be featured on a streaming platform that reaches close to 2 million people. Connors/Kidd from 11/26 currently has just north of 17K views on YouTube. Yeah, I'm just sure Joseph Connors is kicking himself for this decision.
