For some odd reason, ive been baffled this week with  the realization that Rick Martel never held the Intercontinental Championship, but Chico Santana did.

It's hard to think of a bad match that Tito has had while in his prime. He was always putting on solid matches. Tito is my all-time favorite wrestler, so I may be a little biased.

The real crime is that Rick Martel still isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Tito Santana was a bland promo but his matches were pretty fucking awesome when they counted.  Watch his IC steel cage win over Valentine.  Shit, the MSG series is the greatest house show angle ever. (Santana/Savage, Santana/Savage with Bruno as ref, Santana/Sammartino vs. Savage/Adonis, Santana/Sammartino vs. Savage/Adonis Cage.) If you watch those and don't apologize, then I know you didn't actually watch them.

He fought Jarrett on the 1/10/00 episode of Nitro, the night Jeff had three matches (other two against Snuka and Steele). He was also inexplicably dressed as El Matador...

Also the episode where Jarrett got a concussion and sort of changed the course of wrestling history. We almost got Tank Abbott WCW champ and Terry Funk lighting the ring on fire b/c of it.

I'm not hating on Tito. I was a big fan of his... but Martel clearly was on the IC level, and made to look superior to Santana after the breakup. He cut a good promo, and was one of the best in the ring during his period. The dude could get real heat off a headlock.

His only downfall was the rise of Warrior But even then, they could have used him and as a fantastic foil alongside Mr Perfect against Bret Hart a year or two later.

I get the hostility to Dynamite, and I've long said he's a living embodiment of karma, but for the reverence everyone held him in for trailblazing the business back in the day it sucks to see him in the condition he's in

Except for that part where only an idiot would think the toll of doing that wouldn't be tremendous. Dynamite is 100% self inflicted in every aspect of his life. Being alive to think about all of it is probably the worst part.

I hope Tozawa knows what he's getting himself into. Things haven't gone swimmingly since the CWC.

What's the worst that could happen?

Adding WWE to his resume and winding up back in Japan?

Rob Black by far. IWA Mid-South has had its moments of brilliance, when was XPW ever good.

To me, for this argument, the in-ring factor of their respective promotions shouldn't even be a part of the equation. I'm strictly talking shady shit behind the scenes - who's more scummy as a promoter?

I've heard far more bad things about Ian Rotten than I have Rob Black, where in the latter's case it's mostly always the Messiah incident. Wasn't the Messiah thing over him having an affair with Lizzie Borden, Black's wife? People have lost a lot more than their thumbs (or their dick, like was originally intended) for messing with someone's wife. Not justifying it, but I could understand the mindset I suppose - don't know if I could ever go through with a plan like that in reality, though.

Paying wrestlers in porno DVDs (Black) is far more funnier than paying wrestlers in prescription pills (Rotten).

What are people's best non-WWE/NXT tag team matches of the year?

Ones that jump to mind for me are the Fortune Dream tag, Hero/End vs Callihan/ZSJ from Evolve, and some of the Revolucion vs Cuervo & Mendoza matches from WWC.

Thunder Rock vs. Satomura/Hojo, Nakajima/Fujimoto vs. Sera/Narumiya, Nanae/Yoshiko vs. Satormua/Dash is all I have offhand. I don't really watch much outside of WWE/NXT and Stardom.

Chris Hero & JT Dunn vs. Zack Sabre Jr & Marty Scurll. Best tag match I've seen so far this year.
