RIPPA Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 The last day of the regular season (well if the Tigers/Indians don't have to play a makeup tomorrow...) so I am starting this Reports are that Robin Ventura is out as White Sox manager to be replaced by Rick Renteria Also reports are that Walt Weiss will be fired as Rockies manager
Infinit Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Have there been many guys that have managed both the Chicago's?

sabremike Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Sad to see Ventura get sacked but that's what happens when you don't win. He should be in the Mets HOF just for the Grand Slam Single alone.
RIPPA Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Ventura did confirm he was out And the Red Sox announced they were retiring David Ortiz's number
Hamhock Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Renteria hiring announced; he will be introduced at a press conference at 12 noon ET.
RIPPA Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 And Walt Weiss officially resigned (NOT re-signed) as Rockies manager

Hamhock Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Dave Stewart and Chip Hale just got the boot from the Diamondbacks.
RIPPA Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Barry Bonds will not be returning as Marlins hitting coach Apparently he and Don Mattingly didn't exactly have the greatest relationship

RIPPA Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Braves take interim tag off of Brian Snitker and name him full time manager. Ron Washington is now their 3rd Base coach
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Normally, no politics, but I believe this is something we can all agree on: 4
Kuetsar Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Sorry, can't agree. His stats are in the very good, but not great category. When your top comps are Will Clark, John Olerud and Moises Alou, you are not a Hall of Famer, sorry.
sabremike Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 On this day in 1960 the New York Mets and Houston Colt 45's/Astros were born as the NL awarded those cities franchises. Ironically 26 years later they would both be involved in what I and many others feel is the greatest non WS game ever played: game 6 of the NLCS that went 16 innings.

At least that's the version of history that was on the Mets 25th anniversary video. Would be interested in checking out this book.
