sabremike
Sad to see Ventura get sacked but that's what happens when you don't win. He should be in the Mets HOF just for the Grand Slam Single alone.
RIPPA
Ventura did confirm he was out And the Red Sox announced they were retiring David Ortiz's number

sabremike
On this day in 1960 the New York Mets and Houston Colt 45's/Astros were born as the NL awarded those cities franchises. Ironically 26 years later they would both be involved in what I and many others feel is the greatest non WS game ever played: game 6 of the NLCS that went 16 innings. At least that's the version of history that was on the Mets 25th anniversary video. Would be interested in checking out this book.
