Log Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Wait. 144 in a fucking 25?!!??? How does that even happen. Usually a road has a 25 speed limit if it’s residential or like a school zone or some shit. That’s insane. Lucky for Sanders, he’s in the one QB room in the league where those violations don’t even come close to being the worst thing someone in there has done. 1
NoFistsJustFlips Posted June 20 Posted June 20 144 in a 25? If that's accurate that should be an instant 3 months in jail in my opinion. You have no reaction time to adjust if something or someone runs into the street. They don't set streets at 25 unless its a residential area with a high chance of that happening. 2
hammerva Posted June 20 Posted June 20 And if it wasn't bad enough already, he missed the court date. I mean seriously he could have strutted into the courtroom throw down a couple hundreds like the judge is a stripper and he would have been fine. Nope

hammerva Posted June 24 Posted June 24 (edited) Based on the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, the downfall of OJ shouldn't have been too surprising as there were a ton of really bad clues. I guess it was surprising because only those who knew saw those clues and even they shut their mouth on it. So I guess Antonio Brown is the next installment of people who got on the MAGA grift thinking that it would help them out of his problems and ultimately find out that it wasn't going to work out for them to help them Edited June 24 by hammerva

But virtually nobody knew about it, and OJ was an utterly beloved figure right up until that day.
Dolfan in NYC Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Unsigned Justin Tucker has been suspended for the first 10 games of this season for violations of the league's conduct policy.
zendragon Posted June 27 Posted June 27 The OJ stuff was also largely pre internet, so him having a domestic violence incident wasn't going to go viral like today. A lot easier to hide in plane sight

hammerva Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Unfortunately the number of people in media that would either defend OJ domestic violence issue or play the "blaming the victim" card is probably more than in the past. I mean what is worse having a Stephen A Smith and the Outkick gang explain why Nicole Brown probably deserved it in some way or what happened then which was act like it never happened or is a "private matter"? But yes the social media outrage would be intense to the point that NBC and ABC wouldn't use them anymore. 1

Travis Sheldon Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Why does it seem to me that a clause in the contract would be a good idea to prevent this sort of conflict on interest. i.e. If you don't resign, then another choice will be made for you. But, IANAL.

But, IANAL. Except, he got the job in a secret vote put forth by one player in a super secret vetting process that probably didn't exist. That player was then given a job high in the union that has never existed before it was bestowed upon him. It's a union filled with too many players, most of whom can't give up the time and money it will take to actually fight against any of this shit. It's amazing that something like this hasn't happened before, it's a union that is extremely necessary, but the people inside of the union are split between people who can't afford to fight and people who make enough money that they don't have any reason to fight. I don't remember what radio show it was, but I remember someone calling Gene Upshaw a pawn when he stepped down. The guest he was talking to said something to the effect of, if you knew all of the fires he put out over the years, you wouldn't say that. I'm interested in the DeMaurice Smith book that is coming out, because I have a feeling that he has all the stories.
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I'd venture a guess that him being fired (through whatever means that takes) would trigger some kind of payment clause where they have to pay out his contract and if he resigns they keep that money. So... yeah. Fire me, I'm already fired.
