Why would the Commanders get punished?  They have nothing to do with the incident.  All they did was sign the guy in the offseason before the allegations came out.

That's true there isn't really any consequences for them except losing their probable starting kicker.

So Xavien Howard is currently being sued by a woman for revenge porn. That's bad.

Worse: he allegedly not only sent out explicit video of her to an unknown number of people, he also sent her explicit pictures and videos of multiple other women, so this is allegedly a thing he does.

Worst: coming out of that, an unidentified party who was a minor at the time has filed to join the lawsuit on a claim that Howard texted him sexually explicit images and videos of the boy's own mother when she refused to get an abortion. Note the mother in question isn't the woman suing Howard.

Yeah. Like I cannot imagine the thought process that leads you to think to do something like that. Much less the one that makes you follow through on it rather than saying to yourself "holy shit that's evil. What the fuck is wrong with me?"

The NFL Sunday Ticket class action lawsuit continues to progress. Among the revelations so far: ESPN offered a proposal where Ticket would be $70 and allow single team purchases and Robert Kraft testifying that they turned down other providers to intentionally limit the accessibility.

The similarities to this lawsuit / rights fess in the current wrestling landscape are pretty obvious. The WWE Network originally, and now Peacock, don't give away free access to live viewings of Raw & Smackdown. Why is that? Because the rights fees are valuable. If Sunday Ticket is $70. And you have the option of going even cheaper to get just your teams games, the rights fees bubble will burst. Why are Fox & CBS going to pay billions when the average viewer can just buy Sunday Ticket? While yes the broadcasting networks are still the ones sending out the signals, Sunday Ticket sells their own ads.

In the DTV days and even now on YTV when the game goes to a break they replace the ad breaks with their own ads. If Fox & CBS all of a sudden see a large decrease in viewers because people are watching the SDT feeds, then they are losing major ad revenue. The whole bubble bursts and the rights fees drop out (not completely, but to a significant degree). Fox & CBS get way less for ads getting show to way less viewers, The NFL gets way less money for their rights fees.

The financial realities are we have only two options. One with Sunday Ticket (at it's current price point to make it niche), and another where Sunday Ticket just goes away entirely. I'd love a $70 Sunday Ticket. Or a $50 NY Giants only package or whatever. But it's not realistic. The financial viability of profit margins are going to force the NFL's hand if they lose. It's either this or nothing. Capitalism and all that.

Supposedly Bill Bellichek is dating a 24 year old former cheerleader.  That mid life crisis is a hell of a drug 🫣

Good for Bill!

(I'm sure this relationship is....mutually beneficial lol. They are consenting adults. Let them do their thing)

So the NFL got absolutely hammered in the Sunday Ticket lawsuit, despite the plaintiffs lawyers being reprimanded by the judge in open court during the trial. Jury awarded nearly $5 billion in damages, and federal anti-trust suits the judgement is automatically tripled so they might owe as much as ~$14 billion.

Obviously they will appeal.

Former #1 pick JaMarcus Russell has been fired from his high school coaching gig in Mississippi.

He has been accused of keeping a $78000 donation that was meant for the school and has been banned from the premises.

It blows my mind The NFL lost the Sunday Ticket lawsuit. Obviously I'm okay with a lower price for SDT. I'm also okay if subscribers get a little payout. (I've had it for all the years the case covered so I will hopefully get a little something something if the verdict sticks). But I'm a little worried this means they are going to just scrap SDT. The revenue they make from it is a drop in the bucket compared to rights fees, especially if they have to drop the price going forward. They may just decided to not risk getting less money on the rights deals and pull the plug altogether.

If the networks get less viewers because more people can afford SDT on YTTV, then obviously the amount they're willing to pay for the rights is going to go down. I know they still air the same broadcasts, but when they go to ad breaks YTTV inserts their own ads (as did DTV) for the most part, and the ads being paid to the networks aren't reaching all the viewers. I can envision a slippery slope where this outcome is a bad result for the consumer. Because no matter how many lawsuits they lose The NFL is gonna keep on NFL-ing.

Yeah I feel the only way it's salvageable (assuming they don't win an appeal, which they very well might) would be if Fox and CBS got a cut off the ad revenue/their national ads stay in the stream and YT only gets to sell the otherwise local ad spots.

Though that might piss off the network affiliates.

I eagerly await Ryan Leaf's next bit of hoopla as he attempts to keep his stop as biggest NFL bust
