Ah yes, Hitler, the only military genius in all of recorded history

The second part of his quote - " I would want to pick his brain as to why he did what he did" - further explains his reasoning.

Obviously.

That said, it's not like there's not a ton of people who are fascinated by serial killers or who research the "why" of their actions.  And there's a million shows on Netflix on the subject as well.

Both Peterson and his wife downplayed the incident yesterday.  He apparently grabbed her hand and pulled on her wedding ring, resulting in a cut to her finger.  Don't know if there's more to it than that.

Matthew Stafford, fresh off the Super Bowl win, is taking a ton of flack for callously walking away from a photographer who fell backward off an elevated stage while trying to take a photo of the Staffords. Kelly jumped to the woman's aid. Matthew turned, took a sip of water, and walked away. The video is pretty shocking because it's so heartless and cold.  The photographer fractured her spine.

He's in full damage control now, and is paying all of her hospital bills. Which is very obviously PR, but at least it helps her in the long run.

At least his wife had the decency to check on her, I don't know what he was thinking in that moment. I am sure he meant no malice but I'd think the natural human reaction would be to check on someone you just watched fall off a stage. Bizarre.

Yeah, I can't imagine Stafford meant any malice or anything.  By all accounts prior to this, he's a really good dude, which makes his behavior here just incredibly freaking weird.  It's just so divorced from what pretty much ANYONE would do let alone somebody with even a modicum of compassion.

And because it is the internet - Kelly Smiley - the photographer who fell off the stage - was found to have used lots of racist and homophobic language on her (since deleted) Twitter account

(Also because it was the internet - the tweets were being used as a defense of Stafford since, I don't know, he magically knew she was racist already and watching her fall was all a lib plan. My head hurts.)

It's all apparently from when she was a freshman in college or thereabouts.  The tweets are awful, without a doubt.  I'm gonna guess she's grown up a bit in the 8+ years since.  Let's hope anyway.  And, if not, perhaps being laid up with a fractured spine and dealing with the backlash of her comments will give her a new perspective.

This could have gone in the "other leagues" thread as well but I decided to put it here since the problems mostly boil down to misbehavior:

Sam Adams, the 3x Pro Bowl DT/DE who won a Super Bowl with Baltimore and also spent several years with Seattle and Buffalo, apparently doesn't like to pay people.  He's the current owner of the revived Spokane Shock indoor football team but they are a team without a league.  The IFL kicked the Shock out of their league because the Shock failed to secure a facility to play in.  They were contracted to play in the Spokane Area but never ponied up the $128,000 deposit required to secure the Arena for usage.  Apparently, Spokane didn't do much diligence before starting to work with Adams.  He and his wife have filed for bankruptcy and his company was convicted of a felony for not paying employees.  He owed some $20m before settling for less than $2m.  He currently owes people hundreds of thousands in unpaid wages and more.

Yay Spokane!

The local newspaper ripped Adams to shreds today:

Didn't take too long for the gambling can of worms to be opened.

OMG, please let it be because he didn't bet using one of the NFL-partnered apps.  Please.

I was thinking that this was rich coming from a league that's starting to get neck deep in online sports books and has a team in Vegas.

Which is worse: he used a non-partner app and the NFL is making an example of him.

Or

He used an original partner of the NFL to bet on NFL games and now the NFL had to suspend him for using one of their own sponsors?

Ridley tweeted

Which really comes across as he can't understand why he was suspended

BTW - Schefter says he was betting on Falcons games (though it was for the Falcons to win)

He used "the only legal one in the state of Florida" (per Albert Breer) - so whatever that is will give you your answer

Its the fact that he was out of state is what flagged his bets to the company the NFL uses to monitor

He deserves to be suspended just for not being smart enough to have a friend/family member place the bet in their name instead of using his own.

Or do like Jordan and just accrue 7 figure debts from golf and casinos
