offspring515
Yeah he looked like a star out there. Was Aidy Bryant drunk? She stumbled over half her lines.
Hooks
Did someone wake Darrell Hammond up from a nap last minute to do the announcing? He couldn't have sounded more bored and quiet.
brandonr4s
Watched it on DVR earlier. Thought Micheal Che was awful, honestly. Maybe first show jitters. The Davidson kid has potential.
Niners Fan in CT
Davidson had me laughing like I haven't laughed at SNL in a good while. I enjoyed the 90's sitcom also.
Bustronaut
That 90s sketch was so awful I actually noticed they had rebuilt Chandler and Joey's apartment for it. Hammond needs to step it up a bit. I know he doesn't want to do a Pardo impression for the open, but he needs to do SOMETHING.
TimWresPowr
I just thought Hammond's mic wasn't turned up loud enough. They don't do the opening credits audio live each week do they? I just assumed it wasn't mixed well & thought the audio fell as flat as the drab new graphics. Figured maybe they were just going for the understated vibe. Bustronaut
The open is voiced live each week, yeah.
JimBob Skeeter
Dividson did do pretty good. I also thought Hammond was VERY subdued in the intros. No life whatsoever. Maybe Sean Connery needs to make a cameo to wake him up.
RUkered
Did anybody catch last night's episode? I went into it not expecting much because I've never really cared for Sarah Silverman that much, but damn if I didn't laugh at just about every sketch. It just felt like it had an edge to it that I haven't seen in a while, particularly the Whites sketch, and I haven't laughed that much at Weekend Update in a while. Randy
My favorites were the final 2 sketches: the park encounter & the juicer infomercial.
offspring515
No sign of Pete Davidson this week. Solid show though. Lots of cue card gaffs early this season.
Hail Sabin
The episode was really solid and Sarah did a lot better then I expected. Which one was the park encounter sketch? Can't quite remember that one but with a brief summary I will probably remember it.

Hail Sabin
Okay that one I remember now! Yeah I liked several sketches more than that one.
PetrolCB
Supportive Women was my favorite skit from this episode. Not that it's a huge drawback, but what's with the cue card mess-ups being so frequent? Early season kinks or relying too much on the script and not allowing any sort of improv? offspring515
SNL has never had much improv, so I would doubt that's it. I wonder if the frewuent last minute rewrites have gotten even worse somehow making the cast completely unfamiliar with the material?

Randy
On that topic, Dane Cook was the guest on last week's Sklar brothers podcast. Obviously they talked a lot about the Louie CK controversy. The Sklars said they had also been accused of stealing jokes. It seems this isn't a unique situation. Is this parallel construction? I don't know. Ace
Jan Hooks has died. She was 57 years old.
MonteCarl
Sad. She was a part of the cast from when I first started regularly watching the show in my early teens. I still think the 1987-90 cast is one of the best: Dana Carvey Nora Dunn Phil Hartman Jan Hooks Victoria Jackson Jon Lovitz Dennis Miller Kevin Nealon with Mike Myers being added in 1990
PetrolCB
Very nice to see "Love Is A Dream" on SNL. Pretty much the only highlight from tonight.

I'm very late to the game on this, but I loved Jan Hooks. She and Gilda Radner are the two best female performers in the show's history IMO. Just totally bummed. tigertooth
Generally I don't care for making fun of people with PTSD, but the puppet sketch last night gave me the only LOL I had the whole show. (it wasn't one of the jokes making fun of PTSD, naturally)
Hail Sabin
Apparently Jan Hooks voiced Apu's wife on the Simpsons.
