They can trade for Braun through waivers if they want him. He's quietly having his best year since his MVP Steroids Season. Albeit missing games here and there on purpose, but he's been destroying the ball lately.

I'm guessing it's Arod to the Marlins.

Just to walk Dolfan back from the ledge a little

The MARLINS WILL SIGN A-ROD AND PLAY HIM AT FIRST!!!!! is coming from Jim Bowden

So yeah... I will believe it when I see it

In fact - a spokesperson for A-Rod has come out and said "Alex isn't playing again this season"

So, just so everyone can digest this, the Marlins, in 2016, employ Ichiro, Barry Bonds, and (likely) Arod. Oooook.

I can't decide if this is more of a tribute band playing the hits, or if it's like...Heart...performing at tiny venues and fairs, being advertised like "Hey! You remember these people! You can still see them in 2016!"

EDIT: Maybe not likely?

Are they close on Bobby Bonilla yet?

He's probably got a villa on the coast.

For the record Heart played a concert after a Mets game last year and the place was close to full (they were also fantastic).

Clarence "Choo Choo" Coleman passed away today at the age of 80. One of the more memorable members of the 1962 Mets, hope Marvelous Marv greets him at the pearly gates, RIP.

Heart puts on an amazing live show.

Back to baseball.  The Phillies are hanging tough on the outside.  No expectations but they are doing well for a team expected to be the worst in baseball with 100+ losses.

The irony there is that Bonds is probably still better than the other two.

Also, saw Heart about a year ago and they ROCKED.  Ann Wilson still has her pipes.

Bonds could probably still draw a ton of walks if he has any hitting ability left at all. We can just have Ichiro run and play the field for him, they can make a special rule for that right? That way Papi can play til he's 50.

So there is a chance that Nathan Eovaldi's career is over as he has to have TWO elbow surgeries - including Tommy John for the 2nd time.

Estimate is 14-18 months

Quote

The New York Yankees starting rotation, already reduced by injuries, ineffectiveness and a trade, suffered a crippling blow on Tuesday when it was announced that Nathan Eovaldi would undergo extensive surgery on his pitching elbow to repair a torn flexor tendon and partially-torn ulnar collateral ligament.

The procedure includes Tommy John surgery tore pair the UCL injury, the second time Eovaldi has had the surgery. The first time was nine years ago when he was a 17-year-old high school pitching star for Alvin H.S. in Alvin, TX, the same high school attended by Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan.

Eovaldi has been on the disabled list since leaving after one inning of a start against the Red Sox in Boston on August 10 suffering what the team described as "elbow discomfort.''

Eovaldi was sent for an MRI, and without announcing the results, the Yankees, ominously, said Eovaldi would seek a second opinion. He got that second opinion on Tuesday from Dr. David Altchek, the New York Mets team physician, and it could hardly have been more dire: According to Eovaldi, the flexor tendon had been torn from the bone in addition to the new UCL tear.
