It looked like Seth was trying out more knee strike based offense in the match with Sami on Raw. I know the Cena thing happened, but overall, I think that's a better direction for his character in the ring. He should be hitting stuff that looks sneaky and effective. There's no reason for a weasel like Rollins to be doing a powerbomb of any kind. It's very likely that all of the injuries surrounding Seth's powerbomb were freak accidents, but if the move is that difficult to pull off, it's time to retire it.

I still can't get over that one move of his they explicitly banned was the one that never injured anyone (and also his best looking one).

The problem here is there's another dude who wears pleather pants, makes dubious hairstyle choices, and has a knee strike offense gimmick who'll be called up from NXT by the end of the year. And he smokes Seth in every one of The Four Quadrants.

Meant to comment on this too, but I couldn't edit the quote into my last post.

Have any of these "buzzes" ever amounted to anything? The only black eye on pro wrestling this century came pretty much out of the blue (Benoit).

Steroids and sex scandals weren't out of the blue.

Yeah, but Bret should probably stop trotting out the whole "never hurt anyone" line when he admitted he injured Randy Savage by being careless with a ringpost spot.

To be fair, in his book Bret doesn't say he never hurt anyone. He owns up that he potatoed a few people. His claim was that he never seriously injured anyone to the point that they couldn't come back to work the next day. I don't think he meant that he's never actually hit someone too hard or anything like that.

What steroid and sex scandals have gotten mainstream press in the 2000s? Except for the media lazily citing steroids as a cause of the Benoit murders instead of CTE (which should be a black eye, but somehow hasn't been).

Bret wants to call Seth and Samoa Joe dangerous but how about when Owen nearly crippled Steve Austin and never apologized

Bret doesn't defend Owen for that.  He's talked about being pissed at Owen for mishandling the situation.

Bret's been a bitter old man since he was in his 20's so no suprise he's already going a bit senile.

Last few times I've seen Joe do the muscle buster he seems to be doing it a lot less like a brain buster like he use to and more like a basic suplex where he just falls on his back with his opponent.

That said the powerbomb is already a dangerous move inside the ring and this whole trend of finding stupid places to execute it not in the ring needs to go away.

I like Bret, but he's nearing Jim Ross on the scale of "old guys who won't stop talking about that one thing only they care about, and now no one cares about anything else they say."

If you're going to pick one thing to not shut up about, not actually hurting your opponent is a good one.  It is literally the whole point of professional wrestling.

My thoughts on the various wrestling podcasters:

Court Baur- very intelligent

Greeney- behold the raw human libido of a man who's sole sexual fascination is with himself and his own voice.

Cornette- a chimp who needs a xanax

Konnan- I don't want to hear about what's jojo this week, I don't want to hear you hitting your bong next to the microphone, go away forever.

Meltzer- intelligent and good at getting the scoops.

Pollock-very smart

Ting- makes sense and good points.

Alvarez- If Raw and SD are too much WWE for two days in a row, than why the hell is Alvarez podcasting 47 hours a week? also, he thinks one brand should have tags and the other should have women. How is that going to work? Every house show needs tags and women. Are we going to have a SD without tags? a Raw without women? Also, having one touring champion means half the weekend house shows don't get a world champ. That's not going to work. Alvarez is forever trapped in the mindset of a attitude era fan. I do enjoy his podcasting when he's not making gut-based late 90's fan reactions, honestly tho Its time to move on from that era. Wrestling has changed.

Torch- some good, some bad

Maybe the recent Brock deal. But I think it's hard to give pro wrestling a black eye. People see that Lesner got popped for steroids and they're like "he's a wrestler, of course he is".

Konnan was fine when he was with Bauer.  His new show is beyond awful.

Bruce Prichard's new show is a mixed bag.  On one hand, he's your typical old guy going off on the current product and "The Internet," but in the other hand, the meat of the show (focus on one old school topic, event, or wrestler and his experiences there) is decent.

Weren't both TNA and WWE pulled into congress post 2000 over steroids? How about Brock last month?

Mickie James, Seth Rollins, and Isis brought sex related problems to the WWEs doorstep. And Hogan of course.

No. Making money is the whole point. Just ask everyone who tried to beat Vince.

I know the timeline's off by a year give or take, but wasn't there some mainstream pub over ECW valet Chastity getting signed by WCW after it was revealed she did porn?

Not that I've.. ever... seen it or..  anything...

When it comes to JR and Bret, I feel like a lot of the repetitive rants come down the amount of time they are filling vs the amount of interesting things they actually have to say.

And maybe I'm just a Bret apologist, but perhaps we're a little higher on sunlight and kittens than we should be.

I remember t was around the point where Bischoff was trying to recreate his WCW character as a man of the people (by, of all things, telling Hardcore Hak he couldn't smoke which was completely analogous to Bischoff's character development because the crowd liked seeing Hak act more like his ECW character and Bischoff was putting a stop to it) and he would do commentary and I remember one of the other commentators saying of Chastity "I hear she's quite a movie star, heh heh" and Bischoff saying "So I've heard" I remember as a teenager thinking "Wow, that sounded incredibly sleazy".  She was gone from the company soon thereafter.

WCW's attempts to out-Attitude the WWF were always so sad.  I remember when they brought back the Varsity Club with Lea Meow (Kimona) as their cheerleader and Kevin Sullivan doing guest commentary and going "Her name is Lea Meow.  Get it, Tony?  Lea Meow." and you could tell he had a hand in coming up with the name because Sullivan thought it was the greatest thing ever.
