Random music thoughts

I got a turntable on black Friday (mainly so I can start getting 7' and full length punk and ska releases). Anyone know any record stores online that are worth checking out for price, selection and reliability?

Not sure what you're looking for specifically, but I patronize Havoc Records for most of my punk and hardcore punk releases. https://www.havocrecords.com/ Armageddon Shop out in Providence has very consistent service and a varied lineup of stuff from all genres http://www.armageddonshop.com/index_prov.php Sorry State Records can be pricey but they're solid as hell for new, cool stuff and get in some gnarly metal stuff on top of all the punk https://www.sorrystaterecords.com/ I haven't hit them up before but Dr. Strange has been around forever and you might be able to get some more mainstream stuff there http://www.drstrange.com/

Welcome to the wild world of vinyl! Hope you find what you're looking for, and let us know.

And for the metalheads, I go here http://www.20buckspinshop.com/ and here https://shop-hellsheadbangers.com/ for most everything. There are a bunch of little labels/stores around so I recommend using Discogs to find who put out what and go to the source. Support the people that are behind your records; Amazon might be fast but they're also a moving slaveship. Keep capital to a minimum, art is what it's all about!

EDIT: Damn, there's even more that I didn't think of. Reckless in Chicago rules. http://www.reckless.com/index.php I can list about a dozen other small fries... Extreme Noise in Minneapolis, Velted Regnub, Prank, Ebullition (if you want to spend over $50 you can get about five LPs), Tankcrimes and 625 in Cali for all your power violence needs, High Roller and FOAD overseas, Yosuke over at NWN Prod. in San Francisco if you want the black metal... there's a ton. Search 'em out

First new At The Drive-In track in 16 years and an album coming up, I don't care what anyone thinks of those two, ATDI's last album changed my musical tastes entirely on its own.

Relationship of Command also changed my taste in music, but The Mars Volta's debut album definitely expanded that scope even more. Omar & Cedric are probably as important to me as Trent Reznor is, when it comes to groups/people that were influential to me.

Oh, here's the new song too.

Skimming through the snobbiest of the snobbiests Punk list for 2016+child genres cause no one makes just basic punk anymore, literally 2 are listed when you pick that.

If you want just "Punk Rock" without all the other flavors of insanity.

Ignoring very very far offshoots like mathcore and grindcore, here's a sampling of random junk.

Yeah Michael Kiwanuka is a great singer.  I first became of him a few years ago with "Home Again".  Such a beautiful song.

I think "Black Man in a White World" is an important step in his career.  We knew he was a great songwriter, but he has shown his willingness for social commentary now.

I put out another record today.

It's free, but it's not for everyone, but it's free.

Just downloaded this. Not listened to it all just yet, but for now I'll just say I dig what you did with that Animals inspired track. It's like you had Glenn Branca in one ear, John Cale in the other, and said, "Heck with you both, I can get this under two minutes and make it work."

Pearl Jam, Tupac, Joan Baez, Yes, ELO, Journey and Nile Rogers are your Rock Hall inductees for 2017.

Two thoughts:

They're finally giving up on Chic after 11 nominations. No one wanted them in after the nomination process.

And Journey... Ugh.
