They'd be great repackaged as hipsters but that would require somebody on the creative side of things to have knowledge of popular culture post 1998.

Difficult to update your skill set when you're busy getting Jerry Springer to promise things that are too hot for TV.

I don't understand why people are concerned about Roman Reigns having a heel turn. He is a heel. HHH was booked as a face for the majority of that feud, and now his first challenger to the title is one of the most over faces on the roster. Even if AJ Styles brings in Bullet Club, they will get cheered for beating down Roman and he will still get booed for Superman Punching his way out of it. He gets a dedicated heel reaction no matter what. Why do they need to show him stealing candy from children and tying women to train tracks? Why have him cut some lame promo about having scorn for the WWE universe? His mere presence is more heel heat than the writing staff could ever hope to get out of a dastardly turn in front of the sea of contrarianism that is the Raw audience.

Enzo and Cass are great because the gimmick doesn't rely on them winning matches in order to stay over. They are goof balls. They say awesome catch phrases, they clearly like each other, and even if they lose, they're still going to say awesome catch phrases and like each other. I actually thought Bubba really added to the segment by clearly being entertained by them and not knowing what to make of them. That did more to put them over than anything the Dudleyz have done with the Usos or New Day.

Crowd reactions for Reigns are meaningless.  As someone mentioned in the WM thread the person near them was going to boo Reigns because everyone else was doing it.  They are just booing Reigns to try and be cool.

What good is a heel turn for a character when people are doing the reaction just to be part of the crowd?  Chances are if he did a heel turn everyone would suddenly cheer him making the turn useless.

What matters more is merchandise.  Is he selling lots of merchandise as the face of the company?

It just shows how dumb the crowds are when everyone boos Cena but thirty minutes later line up at the merchandise counter for the new Cena shirt.

I thought that was a pretty decent raw. Lots of fresh stuff, couple of good returns, no trips & Steph.

But I have a bit of an issue with that forced disclaimer at the start about the crowd. They wanted to suggest that the crowd would boo Reigns because they boo all the babyfaces and cheer all the heels - EXCEPT the crowd cheered all the babyfaces other than Reigns. Styles, Zayn, Cesaro, Ryder, New Day, they didn't get booed, they all got great reactions. The crowd will get behind babyfaces if they're decent and not completely forced upon them.

This is how dumb the crowds are.  In order to voice their displeasure at a wrestler getting a push they 'didn't deserve', they decided to cheer Triple H who is the walking embodiment of the company who has been pushed to his position with the unrelenting energy of a perpetual motion machine.  The crowd is actively booing the only guy who is under 40 who is getting a push.  The guy who just 2 years ago made the crowd collectively cream themselves in anticipation of him getting a push.  100,000 morons who knew what they were getting and are surprised they got it.  Bunch of dummies.

As epitomized by sveral segments: huge pop for Vince's entrance replete with singing his theme song, followed by booing Vince when he brings up Shane, then cheering Shane or the New Day segment: huge cheer for New Day, chanting along to their catchphrases, then bigger pop for them mentioning Austin beating them up at WM.  Or cheering Jericho for challenging Reigns, then cheering Jericho for calling them idiots/telling them to shut up.

So we're to the point where people are whining about people whining.

Well, only because they are whining just to fit in.  They really love Roman Reigns and buy all of his merch, even the wrist guards and the christmas gnome.

They spit in the face of people who don't use Miracle Grow, plenty of water and optimal sunlight?

They use the Oriental Spike as their finisher, only it's the Green Thumb?

The crowd was really into like 4/5ths of the show.  Better than most nights.  Better than most post-WM nights.

They cheered Vince when he came out because they love Vince, they booed Vince because they don't like the direction things are going, they cheered him again when they realized Shane was still in the story and on and on.  It's not that hard to figure out, guys.

If you don't understand why Roman is getting booed out of every building, or why the same fans who cheered him two years ago are now booing, then I don't know what to tell you.  Maybe you have shit taste in wrestling?  Maybe you ignore all context intentionally? I don't know, but it's definitely not because everyone in the crowd is a moron.

Side note: 2016 HHH is more interesting than Roman Reigns in every single way.

Now that Reigns is leaning into the reasons people hate him the way Hunter had recently they'll love him too. It's just the way the crowds are wired now.

Actually, if they want to speed rehabbing Reigns along they should just give him a no-show job with NXT creative and occasionally attribute some awesome signing or angle to him.

You can cut all the backstage NXT stuff out of the equation and HHH is still more interesting.  Roman/AJ could be a fun little feud, but how many more pages would this thread have if we were talking Trips/AJ?

They do have Jimmy Jacobs, but who knows how input he actually gets.
