If you weigh yourself every day, you should average the weight at the end of the week.  Your weight fluctuates a lot day to day, and taking an average is probably the most accurate way to measure how much progress you are making over time.

I weigh myself every day, but only my weight on Wednesday is "official." Everything else is just nice to know stuff. My weight also doesn't fluctuate a lot day to day. I know because I weigh myself every day.

Seriously, I weigh myself everyday too, and my weight regularly fluctuates 3-5 lbs.  The crazy part is that it's completely unpredictable.  I try to weigh myself after my first bathroom trip, but before my first meal so I know that it is the closest to my "true" weight as possible.  I weigh 7 lbs. less than I did last Tuesday, which seems great until I realize that last Tuesday was the most I've weighed in the entire month of August.  For some reason, I weighed about 5 lbs. more that day than any other day.  My weight is trending down, but day to day, there are a lot of ups and downs.

I could post a screen shot of my Fitbit's weight tracking, but my weight is either the same or small drops day by day. I attribute it to a very, very strict eating schedule and diet. If I wasn't fasting then I think there would be more fluctuation, but it's remarkably consistent. Even still, I only accept my Wednesday weight as my official weight and I compare each Wednesday to the previous one. The last time I saw a bump in my weight was when I took an edible for the first time and ate a whole deep dish keto pizza. I felt awful the next day, as one would if they ate over a lbs. of cheese and god knows how much almond flour.

Tell me more about this keto deep dish pizza.

So, I would recommend against doing the deep dish pizza. It just doesn't work and I think I only ate it because I had never been high before and wanted to eat everything. It's much, much, much better when you keep it as a regular crust like this recipe. The cool thing about this is that you can roll out the crust when it's ready, wrap it in plastic wrap, and freeze it for later use. Freeze it before you bake it though. I made the mistake of baking the crust and then freezing it and it didn't turn out so great.

There's a TON of protein in this crust from all of the cheese and almond flour, but it tastes better than cauliflower crust pizza. I honestly love it a lot. It's very filling and when I've had it in the past, about 3 slices would fill me up. I topped mine with pepperoni, salami, jalapenos, green olives, and basil.

Weigh in day. 40 lbs. down from when I started back on 7/8. 40 lbs. in under 2 months isn't too shabby.

What’s your total weight? Dropping a large percentage of your weight in a short amount of time can be a shock to the system.

Ultimately I'm fine. There's no shock to my system. My doctor is in support of me doing this. I started out at 326 and I'm down to 286. I'm going to get back down to 190 to 200 like I was back in 2007.

Good for you, my man!  Keep it up.

I had a huge weight loss (always was a fat kid) in my 20s when, sometime in 2001, I went to the doctor and weighed in at 320.  I got down to like 190 at my lowest in like 2008/2009 maybe.  It slowly crept back up due to various health issues, life changes, stress, etc.  I was around 302 a while back and rededicated myself to health, got to 270ish in January, went keto, and now I'm around 230.  I still have work to do but I'm in my mid 40s with a lot of other shit going on, so I'm trying to not be hard on myself and realize I'm doing what I can.

Hang in there, all.  Love and support to all my bros in the health struggle.

I'm officially out of work for 6 weeks and have to use a walker to get around, so as to avoid putting pressure on my left hip. So, basically, I'm 31 but with the body of a 74 year old apparently. Great. Hopefully with some rest it'll just heal up, I guess the bone marrow in my hip is deeply bruised? I didn't know that could be a thing, but oh well. It's not avascular necrosis like my general physician said/thought, the specialist says it's transient osteoporosis and surgery likely isn't needed. So that's good.

The way I was headed if I didn't get it treated was a break in my hip. So I'm glad I did this when I did.

Oh, man! That sounds horrible! Bruised bone marrow just jumped pretty high on the list of terms never you want to hear your physician say!

I hope you heal up without a surgery. It sounds like a really painful condition, can you like function in everyday life with it (aside from not being able to work, obviously) ?

Get better soon! Well, get better period, but hopefully soon!

Hey, thanks man. I can function pretty well - as long as I'm not standing on my feet for 10 hours like I've been doing since June, I'm okay. When I can sit down and rest, it doesn't hurt (that bad) to walk and whatnot. The challenge now is that my doctor doesn't want me to put ANY weight on the left leg, which is incredibly hard and I didn't expect it to be this difficult honestly, haha. Moving around with a walker sounds easy until you have to do it and put hardly any weight or none at all on your left side. It's gonna take some time to get used to that. And yeah hopefully it's soon, I only have 6 weeks and then I have to go back to work. 'Murica.

Oh, trust me, that'll be taking up a large chunk of my time, haha. But thanks man.

,A friend of mine has been battling with hip and back pain for the past few years now, so anytime I hear anyone having similar issues, it hits home. His descriptions of his condition sound so damn painful and uncomfortable that I never want to hear anyone going through similar stuff!

Good to hear that you are able to get around somehow, but yeah not putting any weight on any extremity for a longer period of time is nigh impossible.

Unless you could somehow immobilise the leg so it doesn't touch the ground while you move around, or something?

And that wouldn't be without its problems if you COULD somehow remove the other leg from the equation  (not literally, obviously )! But hey, maybe you come up with a resourceful way to do it within the next 6 weeks!

The first "leg day" and deadlift workout in more than 7 weeks ( besided the biking to work every day).

I only use trapbar so it would take some of the pressure off the lower back. Starting with 10 x 175lbs, then 10x280 and 10x375 then the actual big lifts 3 sets with 450lbs, getting 4, 3 and 3 reps. That is pretty much exactly in line with what I have lifted in the past couple of years, so the summer vacation and the subsequent lack of motivation didn't do much damage. Deadlift is particularly forgiving in that sense, unlike pull-ups or bench press, for example.

After this I did 30 reps with 220lbs(ish) in a squat machine and finished legs off with another 6x350 with the trapbar. I finished the workout with some shruggs using 280lbs and 175lbs on the trapbar. The bike-ride home sucked after this, however.

I said that it would take me some ten weeks to bounce back and it sure as hell won't take me less than that, but it's a marathon, not a sprint and it should get easier from here on out.

By far the most impressive thing about this is that you managed to ride a bike home afterwards.  I barely want to walk to the shower after a leg workout, and I don't do nearly that much.

Yeah, that is the tricky part with my leg days in general. I'm 7,5 miles away from home, so there is no way I can ever go balls out on a leg day or I would end up calling my wife to pick me up somewhere along the way. Unless the bike malfunctions, that hasn't happened yet, so I guess I know my limits.

LOL, riding a bike 7.5 miles is what most people would describe as leg day.

I just weighed in under 220 for the first time since I started this latest fitness journey.  I've felt all of my 39 years over the last few months.  I used to be able to drop weight really quickly, but I'm only down 10 lbs. since June.  With that said, I feel I'm in significantly better shape.  I've been walking a couple miles a day, and would like to start jogging, but my hamstrings are made of wet toilet paper.  I've been doing kettlebell swings and a bunch of other posterior chain exercises and still feel like my hamstrings are one run away from blowing out.  I was pretty much indestructible until I was about 30, but since then I've pulled both hamstrings multiple times and had a pretty bad calf strain last year.   I've been doing everything I can to both strengthen and build endurance in my legs and nothing seems to prevent nagging little injuries.

Man, I'd love to be able to say it will get easier after 40, but I'm afraid I have some bad news for ya! Indestructible until 30 sounds very familiar, but I have been very lucky with injuries  (lack thereof) in my life until 30. Also, I only started to work out seriously again when I was about to turn 35, so I've been over the hill since the start!

I'll fight mother nature and father time kicking and screaming and so far I'll call it a draw, but every damn year the damn hill gets steeper to climb!

Best of luck to you and hopefully you can avoid further injuries and stay healthy!

Yeah, so we can all agree that's definitely a thing! Have you been able to keep the weight and pressure off the other leg thus far?

I've been using a wheelchair to get around, but for some things I can't avoid walking (like taking a shower, for example). I go back to the doctor on Thursday for another x-ray to see how it's healing (if at all). My disability got approved for the next few weeks, so at least I get some kind of paycheck (even if it's 60% of my biweekly income).
