Ace Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Main roster qualifers: Kalisto Neville Sin Cara Xavier Woods
Big Fresh Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I could see Evan Bourne back just for this. Brian Kendrick also.
Big Fresh Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Oh, and if they really are interested in Shelley & Sabin as was rumored, this would be a good way to intro them.
Nice Guy Eddie Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I'd imagine Johnny Gargano will also be part of this. I'd like to see some indy veterens added to this, like Jigsaw and Jimmy Rave, whose names don't pop up that much anymore.
Zakk_Sabbath Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Has 205 always been the WWE cruiserweight limit? I seem to remember WCW being something like 224, but I don't know if that was "billed" weight or what
The Comedian Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Looking forward to the moment that WWE realizes they booked 30 dudes who all run the same spots. I'm sure we'll get a varied selection of moves in there. Enzuigiris, running enzuigiris, step-up enzuigiris, leg-feed enzuigiris, diving enzuigiris, shining enzuigiris, springboard enzuigiris, triangle enzuigiris... Also 90% of the guys will use a lungblower. 1

Hagan Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Gotta assume it's gonna be mainly WWN/Evolve guys and guys signed but not on TV yet, like Sombra. Figure they'll be a Japan representative...if not Liger, maybe another underutilized guy.
SirSmUgly Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I hope this was spurred on by Trips being impressed by the WoS tribute acts because those ten minute Nitro Cruiserweight workrate special matches haven't aged all that well. I disagree with that to some extent. The stuff that's all bomb-throwing is somewhat passe now, but a surprising amount of the Malenko stuff in '95 and early '96 where he was the base for a high-flyer is still very good. I was thinking that what I really want to see in this tournament is the style-clash where WoS tribute guys like Busick try to ground the high-flyers and act as a base for them because to me, those were always the best Nitro Cruiser matches. 1
worldcupfever Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Hopefully someone can run by the grounds of the old Sportatorium and see what Eric Embry is up to.
J.H. Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I like the implication that Eric Embry lives in the remains of the Sportatorium like Gollum was living in The Misty Mountains. I can see him now, cradling the WCCW Crusierweight title whispering "My precious..." over and over again (that is until Shaun Simpson tricks him and steals) James 6
Phantom Lord Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 So, is it a given if Rey Mysterio is coming back by the summer he would be in this thing? He tries to cement his legacy as the greatest of all time or puts over someone coughKalistocough as the new guy.
Niners Fan in CT Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Is it too much to ask for Blitzkrieg?
Nice Guy Eddie Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Is it too much to ask for Blitzkrieg? I'd be happy with Jack Evans. I haven't seen him in quite a while.
RandomAct Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Isn't Jack contracted to AAA? I don't imagine anyone under contract shows up here, outside of maybe a NJPW guy or two.
Michael Sweetser Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Alberto Del Rio says AAA contracts ain't worth the paper they're printed on. 1

BrianS81177 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 You're all assuming they can't/won't just lie about the weight of someone. They could claim Styles is under 205 and put him in.

That shit on the indies these days is almost as bad as Shining Wizards were getting in 2006. EDIT: Has anyone done a Shining Wizard on the ring apron? Or reversed a Shining Wizard attempt into a power bomb on the apron?
TheVileOne Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 So will this be formatted like a single elimination tournament or will they have teams or such? Hopefully William Regal will book it.
Stoychers Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 The idea that they sign a Zack Sabre Jr and put him over in this format appeals to me. The idea of Gotch/Gable in there grounding out some high flyers also sounds like alot of fun too.
The Comedian Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Hopefully someone can run by the grounds of the old Sportatorium and see what Eric Embry is up to. Could they do a battery acid angle in the PG era?
Norwegian Rudo Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Prior to the announcement Meltzer has seemed to believe not even NXT TV guys would be in it, just outsiders and guys who have yet to debut. Seeing as how Progress and Rev. Pro were mentioned in HHH's interview, the guys I could see fitting would be Zack Sabre, Marty Scurll, Mark Haskins and El Ligero, maybe Paul Robinson too. I'd say Tommy End is probably a little heavy, but you could probably pass him off as 205. El Ligero would be interesting considering the Liger lookalike mask and the name. He's a super solid worker though. 1
