DANIEL BRYAN DUMPSTER FIRE THREAD

RIPPA

Recommended Posts

One of these days there's going to be a thread called "Dean Ambrose Dumpster Fire Thread" and it's going to actually be about someone starting a fire in a dumpster.

If Ambrose did it, that would be arson.

It could be legit, if its either 1) Brie finally got him to come to his senses that it's over and she doesn't want to see him spending his golden years in a wheelchair watching Seasme Street reruns on HBOGo, or 2) Brie's pregnant and that snapped him into reality that he's getting off easy in the big picture.

That's literally the only way I see this being legitimate too. She's been pressuring him about this ever since his latest concussion. But if that were the case why would he go see the UCLA doctor recently? Why would he be posting about a comeback within the last week?

I love how people are saying they wish he'd retire for his own health when two specialists say he's okay to return. Wrestling in general is fucking awful on the human body of all of its participants. If we really cared about his or anybody's health, truly, we wouldn't support wrestling outside of amateur/pure mat-based wrestling. Of course, I don't want to see him crippled or unable to spend time with his grandchildren should he have them. But I watch wrestling and I watch MMA and I watch contact pro sports. It's hypocritical of me to say that.

I wonder if they decided a while back and just kayfabed it until they wrapped filming Total Divas.

(ETA: I realized just now they could've wrapped months ago. I have no idea. But it seemed logical since the season recently started and all...)

I'm actually quite happy if this is true, and it sure seems like it is.  You look at the number of CTE-related deaths in recent years, and hopefully Bryan, who is a pretty smart guy when it comes to most things, has seen the light.  I read his biography recently, and he really feels like a guy who doesn't understand/know how to tone things down.  Early in his career, because of his size, he thought he had to be a high-flyer and would do moonsaults off of ladders and stuff, hit his head, and go right back in the ring.  He even humble-brags about getting a detached retina, being told not to wrestle, and going out and wrestling with an eyepatch anyways or about a night when he was diagnosed with a concussion and went ahead and wrestled as well.  He seems like he could never come back and wrestle a simple ground-based, low-impact bumping style, so I'm happy that he's getting out before he's completely destroyed.

For once, I think WWE should really be lauded for a decision, that is, to not let Bryan return to wrestling.

If this is all a work, then disregard, but for now I'm happy.

New Nexus, again.

DB comes out, talks about whatever, some face comes out, congratulating or whatever...

Out of nowhere, Baron Corbin, Samoa Joe and Blake and Murphy come out and attack the face. It looks at first as though DB is gonna save the face... And then he kicks them in the face.

Boom.

Speaking of the Nexus, if DB wants out of his contract, just choke out Michael Cole by his tie.

Or just do it for funsies.

And while I'm sure this is the end of his WWE in-ring career, I would be amazed if he doesn't wrestle again somewhere else eventually. Bryan seems like the kind of guy who's as serious about retiring as the Funk brothers.

If this is real, and it probably is because ESPN wouldn't get involved in a storyline (surely?), I hope they give Bryan a big send-off at the end of the show, like Edge and Flair. I have a feeling this is going to be a really emotional segment.

Not gonna lie, when I started watching WWE again a big part of the motivation was wanting to see Daniel Bryan wrestle at some point. Having said that, you have to put your health first and if this is the end of his full time career, all the best to him.

He would make a GREAT face authority figure down the road.

I don't think the anti-Dr. Maroon stuff is just a smarky IWC "we want our favorite rassler" talking point - the guy is a legit loon who claims CTE is a rare occurrence and that playing in the NFL is safer than riding a bike.

If he meant "It is safer to play in the NFL than riding a bike in the sense that you are more likely to be hit by a car while riding a bike", then he'd be right.
