2016 UK Wrestling Discussion

Recommended Posts

Really sad news. Not only was Trav a great pro wrestler, one of the best in the country, he was a real fighter and his shortlived comeback last year was a real feel-good story.

Aside from that, he also did so much to raise money for his local cancer hospital who'd looked after him, and the outpouring of love from all over the wrestling world is a sign of how respected he was. I personally only met him once, but he was a delight, even as I fumbled with my phone en route to taking the world's worst selfie. RIP

The April 16th RevPro show is shaping to be insane:

- Ricochet & Matt Sydal vs. Zack Sabre Jr. & Marty Scurll

- Roderick Strong vs. Big Damo

- Michael Elgin vs. Will Ospreay

Please tell me you're going to this, Linus.

I am not, sadly. I have this weird thing about not seeing shows in leisure centres because the atmosphere is awful and the empty space distracts me. I got tricked into one last month and it just reinforced everything I'd thought. Shockingly, I know, but you gotta have your thing, right?

I'm missing the Sabre Jr vs Angle show, too, but I will be at the Shibata show in July.

Has anyone watch this match yet? (This is the hype video for it)

I plan on doing it this weekend but am convinced I will be sad

Did you end up watching this?

I know I keep plugging German shit on here and it's annoying, but I also know people like free stuff.

You can currently get another full show for free, if you use promo code "he5vimeo".

This promotion is closely tied to Alex Wright's wrestling school, so most of the wrestlers on this show were trained by him. I know there are some Wunderkind fans on this board, so maybe that's a reason to check it out.

This is only available until the end of the day (our time, so another 11 hours or so from now).

So Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll had yet another match against each other for wXw in Hamburg today.

I've already seen two reports of people who say it was the best wrestling match they have ever seen.

I drove 90 miles to see a small indy show last night, after doing the same for the same promotion two months ago. I'm ridiculously in love with the British scene at the moment - so many ace talents. One weird thing: the promotion are doing a summer spectacular and announced a "very special guest": Ospreay! He's reached that point now. Aces.

I've managed to get a ticket for Progress tomorrow at the last minute! It's the first time I'll have ever been and I'm so excited I can barely sit still! I'm going to the RevPro show at the Cockpit next weekend as well, which means that as far as I'm aware I'm going to see all the UK qualifiers for the Global Cruiserweight Series that have been announced so far? Unless there were any at the last RevPro shows in Reading and Sittingbourne or something. Isn't professional wrestling in 2016 so utterly surreal? I've picked these shows almost at random and now I'm going to get to see matches with genuine WWE implications. What a time to be alive.

Ooh, come say hi! I'll be the on the front row (hopefully in my usual seat, bar-side) wearing a Will Ospreay t-shirt!

And, yes, 2016 in all wrestling is weird, but BritWres is very, very weird. And great. Yay!

Ah I'm really sorry I missed you! Didn't check this thread before I left. I am aiming to ramp up the amount of shows I go to this year so maybe we'll bump into each other some time! What did you think of the show? 4 hrs is too long for any card I feel, but I really enjoyed the majority of it. Marty Scurll vs. Tommy End was terrific and I thought the eight man tag had a ton of energy and ambition. Two of my favourites are through in the Cruiserweight Series as well! Marvellous!

I think it was possibly one match too long, and the crowd were tired by the main event. But it was a great show and I was so into the main event that I think I have legitimate heat with Mikey Whiplash now :) The pop for Elizabeth coming out was great - a year-long storyline finally paying off.

What Angle claims he said is that he told TNA he is taking a year off from them and then he would revisit in a year

So basically he is on a break from TNA

Which reading between the lines was always "Oh please God - take me back WWE"

Rev Pro has started to announce matches on the Sabre/Angle card now that it is sold out

Will Ospreay vs. Speedball Mike Bailey

Just signed up for Progress on Demand, where's the best place to start for someone who's watched little or nothing from them?

Assuming they have a search function - type in the words "Rampage Brown"
