Sounds like Mir is changing his tune a bit. According to Ariel Helwani, Mir's B sample will be tested but he will fight the suspension if need be as he didn't "knowingly" break any rules.

IMO hard to imagine this doesn't end up in a 2 year suspension. Malki Kawa might be going to the well one too many times.

Every fighter like Machida and Mir are going to use the ignorance excuse because it works.

How has it worked? Romero still got suspended for six months, admitted his guilt, and was going to receive the two year ban if it weren't for them thoroughly testing the supplement he was using.

7 keto DEHA is a whole different story. Yoel tested for something that wasn't on the label. Machida took something that was in the fucking product name.

Machida is getting 2 years.

That will put him at 39 or 40, cannot have much left in the tank at this point.

Six months is nothing for an MMA fighter, that's basically a standard layoff between fights. Not to mention, USADA agreed to a settlement with him and gave him a reduced punishment instead of the standard one.

Also for Tim Means.

We'll see if Machida actually ends up getting the full two years.

Six months is not a standard layoff when you're healthy and the UFC wants to book you. This goes especially when you were suppose to get a title shot. Keep in mind, Means was suppose to fight in Pittsburgh. So both lost payoffs and have to spend months off. BTW Tim Means still hasn't officially gotten an official punishment yet. Based on his Twitter, he is still going through the adjudication process. He is still up for a 2 year ban.

Plus, who said USADA or the UFC had to treat every situation as a one sided totalitarian judgment? It's asinine to believe that USADA has to be like the NAC in the past and just throw the book at everyone because that's what is expected. If they won't flexible when it came to things like this, the fighters would be in trouble everytime there was something that was in the grey area. There are things called precedents, you know.

So if fighters are failing for something that isn't actually listed on what they take and fully cooperate with USADA, it would be dumb for people to believe they wouldn't try to be fair. That's what people were and still are asking of Nevada. In addition, when you're eight  months (only 4 months where drug testing was really ramped up) into a program, they're going to have to allow people to educate themselves and allow situations that have been happening to let people know what is right and wrong. At the same time, they can look at what happened to Machida (who might as well have taken something that said anabolic agent in all caps) and Mirko, and say that's definitely not acceptable. So taking all that into account, believing that what is a slippery slope in one situation is the exact same in another is absolutely ridiculous.

Makhachev's team is saying he had a heart procedure 13 months, and that's why he had Meldonium in his system. They plan on working with USADA and providing all necessary paperwork to solve this ASAP.

The 'Black' fight kit has less black on it than any of the other colours. Smooth move, Reebok.

Are the new outfits going to be DLC in the UFC2 videogame, or do they want it to look out of date after less than a year?

What they really need is Octagon girl DLC. Britney and Arianny are the only ones in the game... but I'm sure some people would pay a dollar or two to get Carly or Jamilette or one of the Brazilian ones who's names I've forgotten. The Andrade not-Sisters.

Besides which, Britney and Arianny are the main event octagon girls. It makes more sense for career mode if you start on shows with just Vanessa and Chrissy, and then when you make it onto a card with Arianny at cageside you know you're a big star now.

if that means that each fighter/corner can choose what color they wear during the fight and etc., then it is a step in the right direction. i still find the shirts ugly as fuck and would never wear one. it seems to present the UFC as the biggest deal, with it emblazened across the front, and the fighter is secondary (or worse) with the name vertical across the back. not visually appealing, if you ask me.

and have they solved the nickname issue yet? a "Quinton Jackson" shirt would be OK, but "Rampage Jackson" is obviously more interesting and more likely to be worn. i think Cub Swanson was one of the biggest casualties of the 'no nickname' rule.

Carlos Diego Ferreira failed an out of competition USADA drug test and is out of his 5/29 fight with Abel Trujillo.

Also, no surprise, Mir's B sample also came back positive.

That must have been some messed up kangaroo meat.

Ruh-roh

If there is any validity in some of that (the stuff with McGann is probably truthful since Light is a longtime homie of Rampage), this could cause some heads to roll. The forging of medicals is a can of worms they don't want to be opened especially in light of the Dada 5000 fiasco. Also, that could pretty much get Bellator banned everywhere except for like a Denny's parking lot in Montana.
