2016 VIDEO GAME CATCH-ALL THREAD

The mission is to knock out as much Watch Dogs content as I can and achievement whore so no one else has to.

I leave alone the shit that is super frustrating. Fuck that drinking game.  I admire Sweetser's resolve or stubbornness or whatever it was that drove him to total completion of the drinking game.

I think it was more the sense of "This stupid little game will NOT beat me" and blind stupidity that drove me to finally beat that thing.  It was my last trophy before platinum.

I unlocked the Piledriver shotgun from the Tier 1 alcoholic in that bar in the Wards.   That may be enough liquor drinking for me unless I need a focus buff and am too lazy to go to the coffee shop..

My most OCD moment in the game so far was restarting the Lead Rabbit to Safety checkpoint from Not A Job For Tyrone three times in a row until I got him a proper escape from the Viceroy ambush.

I knew that you don't fail the mission if Rabbit dies or gets spotted, but it is easier to get the information he has if you get him out of danger..

Otherwise you have to fight through the Viceroys or sneak past them to get to Rabbit's phone if Rabbit is discovered and executed..

This makes me wish GTA had skateboards now. Damn it.

I just want to say thanks to everyone... the other videos on Xavi's channel all have under ten views (which are basically all from me, his Sisters, and his Mum), and the one I posted on the board has nearly 50, so I'm guessing you lads are the difference. And he's really happy to have had that many views on something he made. So thanks to everyone who watched it - and special thanks to Sweetser for commenting on it as well. In the unlikely event of Xavi one day being a big deal on the youtube, Sweetser gets to go down in history as the first person to ever comment on something he posted. You've all made an 11 year old really happy.

As far as Skateboards in GTA, that's probably the third most rumoured thing after Jetpacks and the Casino. I remember not long after online started, there were people claiming they'd hacked the game (looking to strike Hot Coffee) and found skateboarding sound files hidden in the code. Probably not true though.

Apparently some of the other lads in his school have channels too. But whilst Xav is complaining that I need to get  more PG or 12 rated games (so his Mum doesn't see he's playing 15s and 18s), they're uploading... well:

I've known that kid since he was 3 years old. It was 9 years ago.

Hey, no problem at all!  I have a Skate 2 video online somewhere of a faceplant (right into a light pole) so I really enjoyed his video. :)

Once he becomes a YouTube Superstar (TM) I intend to rake in all the TMZ money.

So I thought I was wasting my time replying to an old Watch Dogs thread about my dirt simple strat for the mission, Stare Into The Abyss, and lo and behold my comment has like ten thumbs up this morning.

For those of you that are inspired by my comments and are dumb and want to suffer through this game again, here is what you do to avoid the car chase with Crispin and look like a total badass by trivializing the encounter.

1. Make sure you have done enough Criminal Convoys to have unlocked the Destroyer heavy sniper rifle. (I think you need to complete ten of them)

2. Make sure you can either craft Blackouts, have looted one from one of the Weapon Smuggling investigation sites, or purchase one from Tobias.

3. Make sure you can either craft ctOS Scans, have looted one from one of the Weapon Smuggling sites, or purchase one from Tobias.

4. I think this mission defaults to a night time encounter.  If it is not nighttime when you start this mission, sleep off some game time at one of your hideouts.

Once you see Crispin's marker in the automobile store, take a sniper position across the street from his marker (use it to gauge his position in the building) and use your ctOS Scan (the tool that shows you the location of all enemies).  Do NOT get too close to the windows or the guards will detect you.

Thanks to your ctOS Scan, you should see Crispin's outline in the sales office well enough to line up a headshot.  Use Focus to steady your aim if you haven't unlocked the Sniper Rifle Mastery skill yet..

A round from the Destroyer will go straight through the plexiglass window of the automobile store AND the walls surrounding the sales office.

Once Crispin is brain ventilated, get your favorite shotty or assault rifle, cause a Blackout either with your tool or by hacking / shooting one of the nearby ctOS boxes or transformer poles, and enter the auto store via the rear doors (ex. this is why you are doing the mission at night).

You should be able to kill or neutralize most of Crispin's men in the chaos and darkness,  If you don't get them all, kill as many as you can, keep an eye on the Blackout timer (top of the screen) and your position so that you can take cover when the lights come back on, and then mop up the remaining gunmen..

Then steal the nice purple car so that it gets added to your Car On Demand app and drive to the destination at your leisure.

Oh, and I FINALLY FOUND A FIRE TRUCK TO STEAL~! There is a Chicago FD station near the L Train station in the southwest corner of the Wards.  Landmark wise, the L Train station you are looking for is a block east of the gun store.

The firehouse is about a block south and about two or three blocks east of the L Train station.

I beat myself up looking all over for SongSneak tracks only to find that there are some SongSneak tracks you will only unloick via completing missions.   I unlocked CREAM by Wu-Tang Clan because it was the incidental music playing in the background during the mission where you have to rescue Bedbug from the Viceroy ambush.

I remember not long after online started, there were people claiming they'd hacked the game (looking to strike Hot Coffee) and found skateboarding sound files hidden in the code. Probably not true though.

The files were in San Andreas, including a weapon icon for the skateboard.  Haven't seen anything credible for V though.

The casino would probably get to be a legal mess since you can use Shark cards (bought with real money) to get in-game money.

Yeah, the Casino can't legally open in online mode, because of online gambling laws. And it probably wouldn't be any fun in offline mode, where everyone who wants to has hundreds of millions, so pretty safe to say the ship has sailed on that one.

I wouldn't be surprised if they'd tried to experiment with some skateboarding physics for GTA game(s) at some point, then decided to put it on the back burner and never got around to finishing it off, or just decided it didn't work (or it would take up so much memory they might as well make a new map and release it as Rockstar Games presents Skateboarding, like their Ping Pong game). But at this point, if you could somehow break into Rockstar's offices and steal the file called 'Abandoned GTA development concepts', you could probably make a pretty good couple of games just from what would be in there.

I'd better hurry up and download Saint's Row 4 then.

I'd better hurry up and 1000/1000 G a bunch of 360 games I got then. COD 4, Gears 1 - 3 and some of the lesser ones like Stranglehold and Dark Sector.

No way on Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. That crap's nuts.

I wish they had released GTA golf as its own spinoff. Darts too.

I never had one clue how to score darts until Melraz taught me to when we were playing GTA.

I don't like playing actual darts (terrible aim), but I can play GTA darts all day.

God, I sucked at that GTA golf, but you know what? I played a free trial of the Rory McElroy golf game from EA and it wasn't MUCH better than GTA golf. More courses, more ways to screw up your shot.

I think that Dan, Melraz and I are the only crew members to score a Hole In One.  I loved GTA golf once I figured out how to play.  I am probably rusty as hell now.

Nearly ready to move further into Act III.  I am 36 of 40 Fixer Contracts complete and have two or three more Human Trafficking targets to bag..  Lots of markers popping up in Pawnee now; mostly Gang Hideouts.

I checked out some vids for the mission, Role Model.   The mission is custom made for a sniper rifle, but no YouTubers use the weapon in their vids..   I got a double headshot with the Destroyer heavy sniper thanks to that mission you do as Trevor in GTA 5 where you hit the meth lab and one of the Gold criteria is to kill two targets with one bullet.

Once you pick off the thugs from extreme range, find a place to bunker down and prep for the reinforcements.  For the first time ever, I did not blow myself up with my own Prox IED.

I think that Role Model is my favorite mission now and completes the Nietzschean motif missions that started with Stare Into The Abyss.  Aiden has been pursuing his revenge without realizing that he is becoming just as ruthless as the people he is hunting.  He is oblivious to this, but poor Jacks gets to see first hand what Aiden is truly capable of.  This is Aiden's wake up call.  You can be a protector without sacrificing your humanity.

PpppI am up to the Nebula research station in Ratchet. That was my least favorite stage in the original aside from the finale (which was unreasonably difficult in the original) and so far it's no different here. Still loving the game otherwise.

I swear Rogue Legacy was a free PS Plus game last year and that I claimed it. I heard someone talking about it, so I thought I'd install it,and it wasn't there. It also was not due to my PS Plus expiring as it's stayed active since I've owned a PS4.

I beat R+C and unlocked Challenge Mode. I enjoyed this game and will probably play through Challenge Mode over a few weeks and max out my weapons/buy the omega versions of the weapons.  I'm also unsure where the last RYNO card is - I think that I picked up every special card placement on the maps (along with all Gold Bolts!).

I don't think that I'm going to platinum this game, though, because fuck those hoverboard race trophies. It's one thing to beat the races, but I'm not banging my head on a wall trying to hit the times for the race trophies.

Maybe a silly question but here goes: is the wii shop still available on the original wii? I'm stuck with no console or way to watch Netflix for just two weeks and am thinking about picking up a wii for $35 to get me through but want to make sure I will be able to access the virtual console and buy Harvest Moon or something.

It was as of the last time I tried, about 6 months ago.  I haven't heard anything about them shutting it down.
