2015-2016 NCAA FOOTBALL OFFSEASON

Because I love this shit, here's a list of every job opening this season and where they currently stand:

Georgia - strong rumors that Alabama DC Kirby Smart will be the choice here following the SEC championship game.

Hawaii - hired Nevada OC Nick Rolovish, former Hawaii QB under June Jones, also previously OC at Hawaii. Probably as good as they could get.

Illinois - promoted interim Bill Cubit to head coach on a 2-year contract. Head scratcher.

Iowa State - hired hot up-and-comer Matt Campbell from Toledo. Great hire for ISU, weird choice for Campbell.

Louisiana-Monroe

Maryland - the first team to fire their coach this season still doesn't have their man, as several big names come off the board. Michigan DC DJ Durkin is the name with the most steam behind it.

Memphis - looks to be moving quickly to hire Missouri DC Barry Odom, if Missouri doesn't hire him first.

Miami - Butch Davis and Greg Schiano are believed to have interviewed already. The sudden availability of alumnus Mark Richt probably shakes up the search.

Minnesota - promoted former DC and interim Tracy Claeys to head coach after he strong-armed the administration into hastily promoting him for the sake of "continuity;" promptly fired multiple coaches as soon as the season was over. May have a future in this head coaching thing.

Missouri - top 2 contenders seem to be current DC Barry Odom and Temple HC Matt Rhule.

North Texas

Rutgers

South Carolina - with Fuente and Smart seemingly headed elsewhere, and Tom Herman allegedly agreeing to a new deal at Houston, the Cocks seems to be striking out on top names.

Syracuse - Most interesting candidate right now is Ed Orgeron, who was openly expressed interest. Yes, I know where Syracuse is, but this would be worth it for the endless COACH O TAKES MANHATTAN jokes to be had.

Toledo

Tulane

UCF - strong rumors that they will hire Bowling Green HC Dino Babers following the MAC title game.

USC - promoted OC and interim HC Clay Helton in another head-scrathing decision by Pat Hayden. How does this man still have a job?

Virginia - of the current names associated with the job, Notre Dame OC Mike Sanford seems the most realistic and fits will with the profile of Virginia, coming from ND.

Virginia Tech - hired Justin Fuente, easily the top hire of the cycle so far.

#Auburn DC & ex #UF coach Will Muschamp is getting some consideration from #SouthCarolina for its HC vacancy, source tells @FoxSports.

Cubit took the job on one week's notice and got them to 5-7, which could see them bowling. Not surprised at all he'd get the gig permanently.

LSU's knuckleheadery cost them a top QB recruit as Feliepe Franks flipped his commitment to Florida. Stays in-conference which could be even more catastrophic if the kid lives up to his billing.

Well, it's less that they hired Cubit, and more that they only signed him for 2 years. That's crazy. He basically just signed up to be interim coach for another year or so. Which is probably not a bad deal if you're Cubit, but pretty terrible for the program.

They're basically just kicking the decision on who the real next coach is going to be down the road a little ways.

Until they have a president and AD.

Scott Frost to UCF.

UNT supposedly had a deal lined up with TCU co-OC Doug Meacham but that seemingly fell apart, or he is taking his time. More recently, the smoke is pointing to Seth Littrell from UNC. The Meacham news is interesting because word got leaked that UT is seriously looking at (and may have been talking to) the other TCU co-OC Sonny Cumbie to come in as the new QB coach and OC, so maybe TCU made a huge offer to keep Meacham?

Also some talk that Meacham is one of Kirby Smart's OC targets at UGA. Also heard that either Cumbie or Meacham would be targets for Alabama if Kiffin ends up leaving. One way or another, it's very likely TCU is losing both their hotshot OCs this offseason.

Frost to UCF is a werid one. Frost has no ties to Florida, and only 3 seasons of experience as an FBS coordinator, during two of which his job was calling plays for Marcus Mariota, who could make most OCs look good. I bet somebody at UCF is PISSED at whoever leaked the Dino Babers hire and messed that up.

The Minnesota thing is weird because Kill, Claeys, and Limegrover had been together for a long time. They were together at Saginaw Valley State, Emporia State, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois, and now at Minnesota.

Of course, maybe now they can get an actual quarterback. That would be pretty awesome.

I've also read some mentions of Meacham and Memphis. Considering the turnaround they had at TCU and with Boykin, not surprised they're super hot. They're also about to lose a ton of seniors on offense.

I know nothing about Frost, just saw it mentioned somewhere, and snide comments that he turned down Nebraska?
